Abstract

This study aimed to examine the direct and indirect effects of arm muscle strength, hand–eye coordination, and concentration on underhand passing performance in junior volleyball athletes. A quantitative approach with path analysis was applied involving 30 male athletes from a school volleyball team using total sampling. Arm muscle strength was measured using the push-up test, hand–eye coordination using the wall toss test, concentration using the concentration grid test, and passing performance using a standardized underhand passing test. The results showed that arm muscle strength (β = 0.548), hand–eye coordination (β = 0.376), and concentration (β = 0.177) had significant direct effects on passing performance (p < 0.05). Indirect effects through concentration were also identified, although relatively small. The model explained 90.4% of the variance in passing performance. These findings indicate that underhand passing is influenced by physical, motor, and cognitive factors, highlighting the importance of integrated training approaches in volleyball development.

Abstract

This research is driven by students' limited ability to analyze short stories, due to the dominance of conventional methods and the limited use of learning media. The purpose of this research is to test the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning model, supported by interactive media (Wordwall and Prezi), in improving students' short story analysis skills. This study uses a mixed-methods approach with an embedded design, combining quantitative data from tests with qualitative data from observations and teacher field notes. The research subjects were 42 ninth-grade students from SMP Negeri 1 Tomilito, divided into experimental and control groups. The quantitative analysis showed a significant improvement in the experimental group, with a mean gain score (M = 22.19), which was much higher than in the control group (10.23 points). Qualitative findings reveal that integrating interactive media can visualize abstract literary concepts, enhance focus, and stimulate student enthusiasm through gamification, despite minor technical challenges at the outset of implementation. The implications of this research affirm that the integration of technology serves as essential scaffolding in literature learning, and provide recommendations for teachers to adopt this model as an innovative solution to enhance students' higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

The U.S.–China trade war has generated significant global economic spillovers, yet empirical evidence on its impact on financial stability in third-party emerging economies remains limited. This study examines the effects of tariff escalation, bilateral trade volume, foreign direct investment (FDI), and exchange rate volatility on Indonesia’s financial stability during 2018–2025. Using an explanatory quantitative design, the study employs annual secondary time-series data from official national and international sources and applies multiple regression analysis to test the proposed relationships. The results show that tariff escalation has a statistically significant negative effect on Indonesia’s financial stability, mainly through reduced trade volume and weaker investment flows. Conversely, trade volume and FDI have significant positive effects, indicating their role in strengthening economic resilience. Exchange rate volatility is statistically significant but does not consistently destabilize the financial system, suggesting effective policy responses. These findings provide empirical evidence on how global trade conflicts are transmitted to emerging economies and offer policy insights for enhancing financial resilience amid persistent global uncertainty.

Abstract

The imperative to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation is paramount for sustainable development, especially in emerging economies. This study investigated the integrated determinants of environmental quality in Indonesia, focusing on the roles of economic structure, social factors, and institutional governance. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining a two-way fixed effects panel regression and a Panel Vector Autoregression model on provincial data (2013–2023) with expert interviews. The analysis provides evidence consistent with an Environmental Kuznets Curve relationship and indicates that institutional quality plays a central conditioning role in shaping this trajectory. The shadow economy exerted a significant negative pressure, while human development showed a positive association. Crucially, the results indicate a bidirectional dynamic relationship between economic growth and environmental quality. The findings suggest that stronger local governance is associated with lower environmental costs of development and that improvements in environmental quality may support longer-term economic resilience. The study concludes that integrated policies strengthening institutions, formalizing the economy, and investing in human capital are critical for sustainable development in Indonesia and similar contexts.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between industrial work practice experience, career guidance, and vocational interest and students’ work readiness at SMK Negeri 1 Sutera. Work readiness was operationalized as a multidimensional construct including technical competence, work attitude, and adaptability. A quantitative correlational design was employed with a sample of 130 students selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected through validated questionnaires adapted from previous studies, with acceptable validity (r > 0.30) and reliability (Cronbach’s alpha > 0.70). Data were analyzed using multiple regression after meeting assumptions of normality, linearity, and multicollinearity. The results show that vocational interest has the strongest association with work readiness (β = 0.606, p < 0.001), followed by industrial work practice (β = 0.418, p < 0.001) and career guidance (β = 0.363, p < 0.01). Simultaneously, the three variables explain 31.4% of the variance in work readiness. These findings suggest that both experiential learning and intrinsic motivation are important factors, although other variables beyond this model also contribute to students’ work readiness.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the limitations of the study of low carbon education (LCE) in elementary schools that have not in-depth studied the process of interpretation and its integration with the value of caring for the environment. This research aims to explore how LCE is interpreted, implemented, and internalized in elementary school learning. The research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-interpretive design. The subjects consisted of 100 students and 20 teachers from 10 elementary schools in Kupang City who were selected purposively. Data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, and questionnaires as support. The analysis is carried out through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing by triangulating sources and methods to maintain credibility. The results show that LCE is interpreted through the integration of contextual learning, behavioral habituation, and sustainability-oriented school culture. The practice of low-carbon behavior in students is influenced by learning experiences, teacher examples, and the school environment. Teachers interpret LCE as an interdisciplinary approach that integrates knowledge, values, and actions. This research contributes to the strengthening of character-based LCE conceptual frameworks in elementary schools and provides practical implications for the development of contextual learning that supports pro-environmental behaviors.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of STEM-based science learning in improving elementary students’ critical thinking skills while addressing limitations in prior research designs. A quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design was employed to better capture learning gains. The participants were 30 fifth-grade students in Gorontalo City selected purposively based on academic characteristics. STEM instruction was implemented over four sessions using the 5E model. Data were collected through a validated and reliable critical thinking test, product assessment rubrics, and observation sheets. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, paired-sample t-tests, effect size calculation, and Pearson correlation tests. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ critical thinking scores after the intervention (p < 0.001) with a moderate effect size. Positive correlations were found among test scores, product performance, and instructional implementation. However, the findings are limited by the small sample size and short intervention duration. Overall, STEM-based learning demonstrates potential in fostering critical thinking skills in elementary science learning contexts.

Abstract

The rapid adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the construction industry requires vocational civil engineering graduates to develop competencies beyond technical modeling skills, including interdisciplinary coordination and collaborative project workflows. However, BIM instruction in vocational higher education remains predominantly software-oriented and lacks structured integration of authentic industry practices within formal coursework. This study aimed to develop and validate a semester-integrated simulation-based learning model embedded in a compulsory BIM course. Using a Research and Development approach based on the ADDIE framework, the study involved competency gap analysis, model design, expert validation, and classroom implementation. Five experts—two BIM academics, one instructional design specialist, and two industry practitioners—evaluated the model, resulting in an overall mean feasibility score of 4.48 (SD = 0.18), categorized as Highly Valid. The model was implemented over one semester with 32 fourth-semester students. CLO-aligned performance assessment showed average scores of 82.6 in modeling accuracy, 79.4 in coordination quality, 84.1 in clash detection effectiveness, and 86.3 in teamwork, while 81% of students reported improved understanding of interdisciplinary BIM workflows. The findings demonstrate that structured simulation supports industry-aligned competency development in vocational BIM education.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the PROFIT (Problem Orientation, Reflection, Organization, Facilitation, Interaction, Transformation) syntax, developed from the Authentic Learning Experiences model with Financial Literacy content (ALE-LF), in vocational writing instruction. The ALE-LF model supports real-life, experience-based learning relevant to vocational students, particularly in connecting writing skills with financial contexts. Using a Research and Development (R&D) approach, the study involved preliminary research, prototype development, and assessment phases with 32 eleventh-grade students and two Indonesian language teachers at SMK Sinar Parahyangan. Financial literacy was integrated through observation report writing based on simple financial projects, with teachers acting as facilitators and reflective partners. The model was validated by vocational education academics and practitioners. Challenges included teachers’ adaptation to project-based approaches and time limitations. The PROFIT syntax was most effective during the Organization, Interaction, and Transformation stages, improving writing structure, idea cohesion, and reflective expression. The model is pedagogically feasible, though findings are limited to similar vocational contexts.

Abstract

This study examined the changes in technical skills of 15 PPLP sepak takraw athletes over a three-month structured training period, focusing on ball juggling, service, smash, and setting. Using a one-group repeated measures design, athletes’ performances were assessed under standardized conditions in March and June. Results showed significant improvement in ball juggling (mean increase = 43.6 points, F = 61.62, p < .001, η² = 0.81) and smash (mean increase = 5.2 points, F = 9.73, p < .05, η² = 0.66), indicating effective adaptation of coordination and offensive skills. In contrast, service and setting declined significantly, with setting showing the largest decrease (mean = −57 points, F = 29.92, p < .01, η² = 0.91), suggesting insufficient emphasis on precision and tactical drills. Findings highlight the need for balanced training programs integrating coordination, strength, accuracy, and tactical practice. Limitations include small and unequal sample sizes for some skills, and the absence of a control group. Future studies should incorporate control groups and longer-term monitoring to better inform evidence-based training strategies.
