Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of science learning on the problem-solving abilities of early childhood students. The research was conducted at PAUD Cahaya Generasi Bangsa in Pontianak, where preliminary observations indicated that approximately 50% of children required assistance when engaging in problem-solving activities during science lessons, such as the volcano experiment. This finding highlights the need for a more structured and engaging science learning approach to support cognitive development in young learners. The study employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design, involving a sample of 25 children. Data collection techniques included observation, problem-solving tests, and documentation of children’s activities. The data were analyzed using the Paired Sample T-Test to determine the significance of changes in problem-solving abilities before and after the implementation of science-based learning interventions. The results revealed a significant improvement in children's problem-solving skills after participating in science learning activities, indicated by a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.001, which is less than the significance threshold of 0.05. The average score increased substantially from 4.8 in the pretest to 13.36 in the posttest. Based on these findings, it is recommended that science learning be consistently integrated into early childhood education curricula to foster critical thinking, creativity, and independent problem-solving in young children.

Abstract

This study explores the role of moral literacy in developing the religious character of children aged 5–6 years at Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal (ABA) Kindergarten in Pangkalan Kerinci. Using a qualitative approach, the research involved 9 participants: 1 principal, 3 teachers, and 5 parents. Data collection was conducted through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results show that moral literacy significantly contributes to shaping children's religious character through several literacy activities, including Duha prayer practice, infak and almsgiving, etiquette in daily behavior, respectful communication, helping others, and murajaah—the memorization and review of short surahs and hadiths. These practices are integrated into the school’s curriculum, which follows the ISMUBA framework (Al-Islam, Kemuhammadiyahan, and Arabic). Through routine implementation, these moral literacy programs instill values such as piety, discipline, compassion, and respect in young children. The findings indicate that children are becoming increasingly familiar with religious practices, demonstrating improved behavior and spiritual awareness. Overall, the study concludes that moral literacy serves as a foundational tool in early childhood education for fostering religious values. When consistently applied, these activities effectively support the formation of a strong religious character in children, aligning with the educational goals of Islamic-based early childhood institutions.

Abstract

The experience of art in panting plays a significant role in fostering children’s creativity, as it involves deep exploration, imagination, and self-expression. The panting process allows children to express their ideas and emotions visually, thereby aiding the development of creative thinking skills. This study aims to illustrate how the experience of panting can serve as an effective means to stimulate children's creativity from an early age. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observations and interviews with children engaged in panting activities, as well as through examining their artwork. The results indicate that the experience of panting provides children with space to try new techniques, create color combinations, and produce unique forms according to their imagination. Additionally, this activity helps children enhance their problem-solving skills, as they often encounter challenges such as panting objects they have never seen or creating stories based on their artwork. In the panting process, the role of companions, such as parents or teachers, is highly significant in encouraging children to keep exploring and feel confident in their creations. Panting activities also prove to improve focus, patience, and pride in the finished work, all of which contribute to children’s overall personality development. In conclusion, the experience of panting is not merely a recreational activity but also a vital medium for nurturing children’s creativity. By providing a supportive environment that encourages exploration, children can develop their creative potential to the fullest, which will be beneficial in their future lives.
