Abstract

This research aims to determine the problems of social injustice experienced by crossdressers—in the form of discrimination and stigma or stereotypes—in the novel Troubled Blood by J.K. Rowling, who uses the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. This research was conducted using qualitative descriptive methods. Meanwhile, the theories used are several theories related to gender, such as gender theory itself, queer theory, and crossdressing theory. Apart from that, identity and social justice theories are also used to analyze acts of social injustice related to the identity of crossdressers in society. The book Gender Trouble by Judith Butler is also a supporting reference regarding social views that shape gender identity, thereby causing limitations for non-binary groups. The results of this research show that the character Dennis Creed in the novel Troubled Blood by Robert Galbraith represents the social injustice received by crossdressers, as well as the real impact for crossdressers and other non-binary groups from the depiction of crossdressers as criminals in several novels.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the language development of a 1-year-7-month-old child named Ary, with a focus on phonological and semantic aspects. The research was conducted through a three-month observation period, during which interactions between Ary and his surroundings, particularly his mother, were meticulously documented. The findings indicate that, in the phonological aspect, Ary has demonstrated the ability to produce various words, although there are pronunciation errors such as with the letters "L" and "R" (puyang for ennen, kokok for rokok). These errors are typical and reflect the articulation development process at his age. In the semantic aspect, the child has begun to demonstrate an understanding and use of words with more complex meanings, such as api for "hot" and amen for "prayer."The study also found that communication strategies such as motherese, recasting, echoing, and expanding play a crucial role in supporting the child's language development. These strategies provide linguistic stimulation that helps the child enrich his vocabulary, improve his pronunciation, and build simple sentence structures. The study's findings underscore the pivotal role of social interaction, particularly that of parents, in facilitating children's language development. These findings resonate with the theories propounded by Vygotsky and Brunner, which accentuate the significance of environmental support and the sociocultural context in attaining optimal language development.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the application of lexical equivalence in the translation of song lyrics “Hanya Rindu” by Andmesh Kamaleng into “Just Missing You” by Emma Heesters. Using a qualitative approach, this study analyzes how the original meaning and nuance of the lyrics are preserved through the theory of formal and dynamic equivalence proposed by Nida and Taber. The results of this study show that there are 15 data found, where 2 data or 13.33% are formal equivalence and 13 data or 86.67% are dynamic equivalence. From the results of this analysis, the researcher concludes that the dynamic equivalence approach is more dominant than formal equivalence in this translation, this helps English-speaking listeners feel the meaning and nuances of longing even though there are some parts that create ambiguity. This research emphasizes the importance of lexical equivalence so that the translation is not only accurate, but also able to touch the feelings of English-speaking listeners.

Abstract

The main purpose of this article attempts to explore theoritical framework of the impact of extrovert, introvert, and ambivert on the accuracy of syntax in narrative writing. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, the present study find that the ambiverted students have a balance trait of personality (introvert and extrovert). The ambiverted students have a high concentration in doing writing task such as narrative writing. This is because they are able to communicate with themselves through reflection after involving in social interaction. This trait is different with introverted because ambiverted students have rich of knowledge because they acquire the knowledge through interaction with others in communication and have ability to go in deeper in reading task and reflection. This lead the ambivert students tend to do writing with with rich of vocabularies, they can put in a good sentences pattern (accuracy of syntax) and they have enough background of knowledge so they can do narrative writing easily and construct them in a good sentence (syntax).

Abstract

This article analyses the translation strategies of the film text in the second part of the film “PERUNDUNGAN” entitled “Jamuan Terakhir”. The research aims at identifying gaps in translation that may affect the audience's understanding of the emotional and narrative context of the film. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected from dialogue transcripts and film texts, which were then analyzed based on Gottlieb's theory of eleven translation strategies. The results showed that transfer translation strategy dominates with 51 data (79.69%), followed by paraphrase with 8 data (12.5%), and the rest use Imitation with 1 datum (1.56%), addition 1 datum (1.56%), Condensation 1 datum (1.56%) while Taming 2 data (3.12%). The findings highlight that the use of inappropriate strategies can reduce dramatic intensity and disguise important messages, especially in the context of sensitive themes such as sexual violence and psychological trauma. Therefore, this study recommends the application of more appropriate strategies to improve the quality of audiovisual translation, especially in subtitles that relate to the context of bullying.
