Abstract

Waste is a global problem in various countries, including Indonesia. Based on SIPSN data (2023), Indonesia has a total waste generation of 34,599,396.49 tons/year, with 51.11% of waste coming from household activities. Mandiro is one of the villages in Bondowoso Regency that still has problems with household waste management. Waste is simply dumped in vacant lots and water bodies that are not supposed to be used as landfills. This triggers environmental pollution that can also have an impact on health. The purpose of this training and mentoring activity is to improve the skills and knowledge of ELANGGHU Environmental Cadres related to waste management with maggots so that ELANGGHU Environmental Cadres can actively participate in reducing household waste in Mandiro Village. In this activity, two methods were used, namely education through providing materials and direct demonstrations to further improve the understanding of ELANGGHU Environmental Cadres. From the results of the pre-test and post-test, it can be seen that there is an increase in the knowledge of ELANGGHU Environmental Cadres regarding waste processing using maggots by up to 100%.

Abstract

This community service program aims to strengthen the local identity of Aik Bukaq Village through the planning and construction of Catfish and Tilapia Monuments. The village is recognized as a center for freshwater fish farming, which serves not only as the primary economic resource but also embodies cultural values passed down through generations. The monument is envisioned as a visual symbol of this local wisdom, while also functioning as a tourist attraction supporting the sustainable development of the village. The monument's design was developed through a participatory approach, involving the local community in every stage of planning, from initial concept to final design. The statues of catfish and tilapia, as the monument’s central elements, represent two species essential to the village’s economy and reflect local values such as hard work, sustainability, and harmony with nature. In addition to serving as a village landmark, the monument includes educational facilities with information panels explaining the importance of fish farming and environmental preservation. This program aims to foster a sense of pride and ownership within the community toward the monument, while also strengthening the local identity, which is increasingly recognized at both regional and national levels. Furthermore, the program is expected to boost tourism, positively impacting the village’s economy and raising awareness of the importance of preserving cultural heritage. As a result, the Catfish and Tilapia Monuments will become a tangible representation of efforts to strengthen the local identity of Aik Bukaq Village, reflecting a collective commitment to sustainable cultural and environmental preservation.

Abstract

Abstract

Rambipuji Village is one of the villages in Rambipuji Sub-district, Jember Regency, with the potential for medicinal plants (TOGA) cultivated by the community in their home gardens. However, several issues hinder the cultivation process of TOGA among the residents, including the limited variety of TOGA plants, the potential of TOGA being uncharted, and the cultivation not being done optimally and sustainably. The SEMILIR program emerges as a solution through outreach and training activities to enhance residents' understanding of TOGA seedling and cultivation. The research method used includes material presentation sessions, TOGA seedling practices, and concludes with a post-test to measure the target group’s understanding. The results of this program show a significant increase in understanding of TOGA seedling and cultivation among 22 participants, or 99.09% of the total participants. This activity not only provided new knowledge but also practical skills that can improve family health and nutrition quality. The program is essential to be sustained in the future, as it has the potential to raise public awareness about health.

Abstract

Rambipuji Village is a village in Rambipuji District, Jember Regency, which has the potential for family medicinal plants (TOGA). However, based on the survey conducted, the potential of TOGA in Rambipuji Village has not been optimized, both in terms of cultivation and utilization. To address these problems, the Ormawa BEM Faculty of Pharmacy PPK Team built a TOGA conservation area in the form of a TOGA House and TOGA Garden. The research method used in this community service activity is the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, which prioritizes the utilization of assets and potential that exist within and are owned by the community in Rambipuji Village. The construction of the TOGA House and TOGA Garden was carried out in July 2024. The result of this program is the establishment of a conservation area in the form of a TOGA House and TOGA Garden in Rambipuji Village. These two conservation areas have become TOGA cultivation centers that can later be managed by the community. It is hoped that, with the existence of this conservation area, the potential of TOGA in Rambipuji can be further optimized.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to map the diversity of family medicinal plants (TOGA) in Rambipuji Village, Rambipuji District, Jember Regency, East Java. TOGA is an important component in the lives of Indonesian people as an affordable and easily accessible alternative to traditional medicine. Nonetheless, in Rambipuji Village, the potential of TOGA has not been optimally utilized, and information regarding its geographical distribution is still limited. Therefore, accurate mapping is needed to support the utilization and preservation of TOGA. The research method involved three main stages: preparation, implementation, and map-making. In the preparation stage, the research team consulted with village officials to acquire permission and support. The implementation stage involved collecting coordinate point data of various medicinal plant species in the three main hamlets, namely Gudang Karang, Krajan, and Curah Ancar, utilizing the GPS Map Camera application. This data was later analyzed and imported into the QGIS application for the creation of an interactive map. The resulting map shows that there are 126 coordinate points in Gudang Karang Hamlet, 41 points in Krajan Hamlet, and 32 points in Curah Ancar Hamlet, with a total of 48 different medicinal plant species. The resulting TOGA diversity map provides a clear visual picture of the distribution of medicinal plants in Rambipuji Village, whereby it is expected to become a learning tool for the community and support the preservation and sustainable use of TOGA. This mapping is designed to improve the welfare of the community through a more targeted and coordinated utilization of medicinal plants.
