Abstract

This study investigates the participation of children in the "Competent Camp" program, which aims to enhance their listening skills through play activities within the Silokidir Forest. A qualitative methodology is employed, with an emphasis on case studies conducted across various educational institutions. Data were collected using participatory qualitative methods, with participants actively engaging in play activities designed to improve their listening skills. The findings indicate that interactive and dynamic play activities contribute to enhanced listening abilities among participants. For instance, participants demonstrated improved listening skills, evidenced by faster and more accurate responses during simulated tasks. This study underscores the effectiveness of outdoor experiences as a tool for skill enhancement, particularly in improving listening abilities among diverse student groups.

Abstract

The Smart Village program aims to enhance community welfare through the application of technology and innovation. In Curahdami village, low literacy and competency levels, particularly among ex-ODGJ (people with mental disorders), are due to low productivity and insufficient skill development support. Social stigma, lack of motivation, and minimal family attention exacerbate this situation, while social disparities limit access to essential services. To address these issues, an empowerment program for ex-ODGJ was designed through the "Rumah Kreasi Budaya Desa," a center for developing creative products based on local wisdom. The program seeks to enhance artistic skills and market creative products to support the growth of the creative industry and create new jobs. This research employs a participatory-action approach, engaging the community in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the program. Data collection methods included participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of activities. From June to August 2024, the program targeted 40 beneficiaries, including 35 ex-ODGJ from several villages and some individuals with disabilities. Of these, 62.5% showed significant improvement in artistic skills, while 37.5% demonstrated increased interest in creative activities. Nevertheless, challenges such as limited resources, low community capacity, and insufficient policy support persist. Therefore, it is crucial to improve human resource capacity, develop strategic partnerships, and strengthen stakeholder support to ensure the program's success

Abstract

Stunting, a developmental disorder in children caused by chronic malnutrition and recurrent infections, characterized by below-standard height, remains a critical issue for Indonesia. In Mayang Village, one of the communities supported by the University of Jember, 2.46% of the population experiences stunting. To address this issue, the PPK Ormawa Team of BEM FKG UNEJ developed a stunting prevention program utilizing catfish farming as a source of nutritionally balanced supplementary food, named GENTING (Mayang Village Movement Against Stunting). This initiative involves empowering integrated health post (posyandu) cadres through training in catfish cultivation and the processing of nutritionally balanced supplementary foods. The program outcomes include the production of supplementary food to meet the nutritional needs of toddlers in Mayang Village and the enhancement of knowledge and skills among posyandu cadres in stunting prevention

Abstract

The beading handicraft training at Abadi Aisyiyah Orphanage in Parepare City was initiated due to the children's monotonous daily routines and limited facilities for developing their creative skills. This activity aimed to provide the children with new experiences, enhance their fine motor skills, creativity, and self-confidence. A total of 30 children from the Abadi Aisyiyah Orphanage in Parepare City participated in this activity. The training was conducted over three days, with the first day focused on demonstrating the making of bracelets and rings, followed by a creative session where the children could make crafts according to their imagination. The second day continued with demonstrations of making phone straps and keychains, followed by similar creative activities. Data collected showed a significant increase in the children's fine motor skills and self-confidence after the training. On the third day, the products were marketed, and the event was concluded. Following the training, there was a 25% increase in creativity, a 40% improvement in fine motor skills, and a 5% boost in self-confidence. Additionally, the sales of the handicraft products made by the children not only enhanced their marketing skills but also yielded a 100% profit. The profits were used to purchase beading tools and materials, ensuring the sustainability of this creative activity in the future. This activity underscores the importance of providing creative facilities for children's development in orphanages and demonstrates the positive impact of engaging in creative activities on skill development and self-confidence.

Abstract

Introducing Pancasila from an early age is crucial to fostering a sense of love for the homeland, starting with education at the primary school level. This socialization activity was conducted by university students at SDN Suci 5, located in Desa Suci, Kecamatan Panti, Kabupaten Jember, due to many students lacking an understanding of the importance of learning Pancasila. The goal of this socialization is to help students internalize and apply the values of Pancasila in their daily lives, considering that Pancasila is the foundation of Indonesia, a multicultural nation characterized by diverse ethnicities, races, religions, and cultures. This diversity is reflected in Pancasila's motto, "Bhineka Tunggal Ika," which means "Unity in Diversity." As the nation's foundation, Pancasila should guide the behavior of every citizen. Instilling Pancasila values from an early age is expected to strengthen Indonesia's resilience in facing various challenges. Therefore, implementing Pancasila in daily life is essential to showcase a dignified and culturally rich national identity

Abstract

Petiyintunggal Village, located on the western border of Gresik Regency, is predominantly inhabited by farmers and livestock breeders. Cattle raising is a common side activity among the residents. The livestock farming in Petiyintunggal Village is managed traditionally, focusing primarily on the sale of fattened livestock for daily needs, without addressing the environmental impact of accumulated cow dung. To address these issues, the UNISDA 2024 Thematic Real Work Lecture team conducted counseling and training on processing cow dung into beneficial products, specifically liquid organic fertilizer. This training was held in Petiyintunggal Village, Dukun District, Gresik Regency, coordinated with local farmer groups and youth organizations (Karang Taruna). The primary objective was to enhance the community's capacity to produce liquid organic fertilizer as an alternative to chemical fertilizers, utilizing cow dung waste for sustainable farming practices. The training outcomes demonstrated a significant increase in participants' knowledge and skills, approximately 80%, in processing cow dung into liquid organic fertilizer, along with positive feedback and high enthusiasm from the participants.
