Abstract

Traffic accidents are traumatic events that cause not only physical injuries but also significant psychological impacts, especially among university students. This study aims to describe the forms of acute trauma experienced by students of the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra after experiencing traffic accidents, as well as to examine the impact of acute trauma on students’ psychological, academic, and social conditions. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through in-depth interviews with two students who had experienced traffic accidents. The findings indicate that the acute trauma experienced by students is more dominant in psychological aspects than physical injuries. The symptoms include excessive fear and anxiety, sleep disturbances, recurring traumatic memories, difficulty concentrating, and heightened vigilance when being on the road. Acute trauma affects academic life through decreased concentration and class attendance for some participants, and social life through temporary social withdrawal or, conversely, increased support from family and friends. In coping with trauma, students employ adaptive coping strategies such as social support, spiritual approaches, engaging in positive activities, and gradual emotional regulation. This study highlights the importance of paying attention to students’ mental health after traffic accidents and the need for trauma counseling and support services within the university environment.

Abstract

Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) is a policy from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) that provides students with the flexibility to study outside their study programs or home campuses. The policy aims to enhance competence, prepare graduates for the workforce, and develop self-potential through various programs, while fostering students' interests and motivation in learning. Since it is a relatively new policy, research regarding its implementation and impact is still highly needed. This study aims to: (1) Explore the perceptions of Medical Record students regarding the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka Program in English learning at the Medical Record Department of STIKES Bhakti Husada Mulia Madiun, (2) Explore the motivation of Medical Record students in English learning to participate in the Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka Program at the Medical Record Department of STIKES Bhakti Husada Mulia Madiun. The sample of this study consisted of 35 Medical Record students at STIKES Bhakti Husada Mulia Madiun who participated in the MBKM program. Data were collected using questionnaires and interviews. The results indicated several factors influencing students to participate in the MBKM program, which include: (1) Intrinsic Factors: Improvement of soft skills and hard skills, (2) Extrinsic Factors: Career prospects (obtaining a job), praise, and recognition/awards. Medical Record students at STIKES Bhakti Husada Mulia Madiun have participated in the MBKM program, which has been successfully implemented and proven highly beneficial. Through the MBKM Program, students receive learning support, including valuable experience, better personal growth, improved English proficiency, optimal learning, and significant advancement. The ability of the MBKM Program to motivate students can have a positive impact on their future career growth and academic success.

Abstract

Pronunciation errors remain a persistent challenge for learners of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in this case students of Tourism Department, particularly in words with complex syllable structures, consonant clusters, and morphological endings. This study investigates the frequency and types of pronunciation errors, including phonetic deviations, produced by 22 EFL learners when pronouncing the words messages, colleagues, lunches, and stretch. Using a quantitative descriptive design, participants’ spoken productions were recorded, transcribed using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), and analyzed. Findings indicate that errors were most frequent in words with consonant clusters and plural morphemes, reflecting first-language phonological transfer and orthographic interference. Pedagogical implications for targeted pronunciation instruction and technology-assisted learning are discussed.

Abstract

Poverty remains a structural challenge in Brebes Regency despite improvements in several socio-economic indicators, while empirical evidence on the roles of education and unemployment in shaping poverty at the local level remains mixed. This study aims to examine the effects of average years of schooling and the open unemployment rate on poverty levels in Brebes Regency during the 2014–2024 period. Using a quantitative approach, this study employs multiple linear regression analysis based on time-series data obtained from official publications of Statistics Indonesia. The results indicate that average years of schooling have a significant and negative effect on poverty levels, suggesting that improvements in educational attainment contribute to poverty reduction, whereas the open unemployment rate does not show a statistically significant effect despite exhibiting a positive relationship. Simultaneously, both variables explain a substantial proportion of the variation in poverty levels over the study period, highlighting the more consistent role of education compared to unemployment in explaining poverty dynamics in Brebes Regency. The study concludes that poverty alleviation policies should prioritize improving access to and the quality of education, particularly at the primary and secondary levels, while policy implications and future research directions emphasize the need to incorporate informal employment and other structural factors to achieve a more comprehensive understanding of poverty.

Abstract

This study aims to develop interactive web-based learning media using Google Slides for Grade X Informatics at MA Al Fattahiyyah. The research addresses students’ low interest and understanding of Informatics, largely due to unengaging teaching methods and limited use of visual and interactive media. To meet the demands of 21st-century education, technology integration in learning is essential to improve both effectiveness and student engagement. The study employs the DDDE (Decide, Design, Develop, Evaluate) development model, which involves four core stages. The final product presents the topic “Social Impact of Informatics” in a structured, visual, and interactive format via Google Slides. It features animations, quizzes, intuitive navigation, and collaborative elements that are accessible on multiple devices. Validation results show the media is highly feasible for classroom use, achieving scores of 88.9% from media experts, 92.72% from material experts, and 85.33% and 83.44% from small and large group trials. These findings indicate that the media effectively improves students’ comprehension and learning motivation. In conclusion, this Google Slide-based media provides an innovative and practical solution to enhance Informatics learning in senior high school settings.
