Abstract

Schools require integrated approaches that enable adolescents to practice personal, social, and decision-making competencies rather than merely receive health information. This study examined how activities in an Indonesian Youth Information and Counseling Center (Pusat Informasi dan Konseling Remaja, PIK-R) were perceived to foster junior secondary students’ life skills and identified conditions supporting or constraining implementation. A descriptive qualitative case study was conducted at SMP Negeri 7 Kota Serang from October 2025 to January 2026. Data were generated through participant observation, in-depth interviews with eight informants—one PIK-R supervisor, one trainer, and six student members—and analysis of photographs, videos, organizational records, and program documents. Data were reduced, displayed, compared across sources, and interpreted through source and technique triangulation. Five interconnected activities—leadership training, self-management, life-skills training, peer educator preparation, and peer counselor preparation—were associated with six domains: physical and mental self-care, self-awareness and expression, cooperation, self-protection and assertiveness, logical decision-making, and goal planning. Adequate facilities, trained personnel, school funding, peer support, and collaboration with the population and family-development agency enabled implementation. Schedule conflicts and limited student interest restricted continuity and reach. PIK-R can function as a school-based positive youth-development setting when learning is practice-oriented, peer roles are supervised, and institutional support is sustained. Multi-site and longitudinal research should examine non-participants, program dosage, and changes measured with validated life-skills instruments.

Abstract

Digital access does not automatically create academic value when evaluative skills, connectivity, assessment, and attention are uneven. This study examined how institutional policy, curriculum integration, student digital practices, and implementation constraints shaped the perceived learning value of digital literacy in Grade XI at SMA Negeri 1 Amurang, Indonesia. Because the available record did not include raw transcripts, participant counts, fieldwork dates, or numerical achievement data, the article is presented as a documentary qualitative case synthesis rather than a reanalysis of primary data. The synthesis draws on the study report's summaries of interviews with students, teachers, and school leaders, classroom and laboratory observations, curricula, lesson plans, academic records, and student digital products. Reported evidence indicates that ethical-use policies, teacher development, broad in-school access, and a recurring 30-minute literacy period supported implementation. Cross-subject content creation and use of Google services, AI tools, and Canva were perceived to strengthen conceptual clarification, collaboration, and assignment quality. These benefits were constrained by unequal home access, unstable networks, distraction, and inconsistent assessment criteria. No causal effect on grades was estimated. The study offers a provisional institutional-curricular implementation heuristic in which policy and infrastructure enable opportunities, curriculum and pedagogy convert them into purposeful practice, and assessment, ethics, self-regulation, family support, and access conditions shape perceived academic value. Future multi-site research should test these relationships with performance-based digital-literacy measures and longitudinal achievement indicators.

Abstract

Teacher-centred instruction can restrict opportunities for secondary students to explain, apply, and collaboratively refine knowledge. This study compared immediate cognitive posttest achievement between two intact Grade 10 classes at SMA Negeri 1 Tompaso, Indonesia: one class received a broadly defined active-learning condition and one received conventional instruction. A quantitative non-equivalent control-group design involved 60 students, with 30 students in each class. The source record states that pretests were administered and that the achievement test underwent item-validity and internal-consistency checks; however, baseline statistics, psychometric coefficients, the academic subject, intervention duration, teacher allocation, and implementation-fidelity evidence were unavailable. Posttest scores were analysed using descriptive statistics and a two-tailed independent-samples t test after reported normality and homogeneity checks. The active-learning class obtained a higher mean (M = 83.56, SD = 3.69) than the conventional class (M = 72.40, SD = 4.49), t(58) = 9.906, p < .001, mean difference = 11.16, 95% CI [8.90, 13.41], Hedges’ g = 2.68. The result documents a large site-specific posttest association but cannot separate instructional condition from baseline class differences or other class-level influences. The study therefore offers promising contextual evidence rather than a population-wide causal estimate. Future research should use multiple classes per condition, baseline-adjusted analyses, replicable intervention protocols, validated measures, fidelity checks, and delayed assessments of retention and transfer.

Abstract

Efficient and sustainable irrigation requires an integrated approach to water management, energy supply, and remote supervision. This study aimed to design an Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring and control system for a paddy-field irrigation pump using a web platform and a solar photovoltaic power source. A Research and Development approach was applied through literature review, functional requirement analysis, hardware and software architecture design, control-logic development, interface design, and database modelling. The proposed system uses an ESP32 microcontroller, an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor for water-level measurement, a PZEM004T module for voltage, current, power, and energy monitoring, a relay-driven pump actuator, a local LCD, and a photovoltaic energy chain consisting of a solar panel, charge controller, battery, and inverter. The resulting design supports real-time monitoring, automatic operation based on minimum and maximum water-level thresholds, manual web-based control, historical data storage, and protection against critically low water levels and excessive pump power. The architecture also separates sensing, processing, communication, actuation, energy, application, and data-management layers, thereby improving maintainability and future scalability. The design provides a coherent basis for a more flexible and environmentally responsible irrigation system; however, field implementation and performance testing are still required to evaluate sensor accuracy, communication stability, energy efficiency, and long-term reliability.

Abstract

The rapid development of transportation infrastructure requires bridge designs that are safe, efficient, and economical. Steel truss bridges are widely used for medium- to long-span applications due to their high strength-to-weight ratio. This study aims to analyze and compare the structural performance of Warren Truss, Pratt Truss, and Howe Truss steel bridges with a 60 m span and to determine the most optimal truss configuration based on structural performance parameters. The main contribution of this study is the integration of truss-type comparison with two seismic loading scenarios, namely locally derived seismic parameters developed from site-specific seismic hazard and soil condition data, and seismic parameters specified in SNI 2833:2016. A quantitative approach was employed through numerical structural analysis using MIDAS Civil software based on the Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) method. Each bridge model was analyzed using identical geometric, material, and loading conditions. Structural performance was evaluated based on the Demand Capacity Ratio (DCR), maximum deflection, structural weight, and support reactions. Two seismic scenarios were considered, namely local seismic parameters generated using EZ-FRISK and seismic parameters based on SNI 2833:2016. The results indicate that all truss configurations satisfy the structural safety requirements with DCR values not exceeding 1.0. The Warren Truss exhibits the best overall performance, with maximum DCR values of 0.989 under local seismic loading and 0.970 under SNI seismic loading, a maximum deflection of 66.14 mm, and the lightest structural weight of 3000.8 kN. The Pratt Truss and Howe Truss have structural weights approximately 2.31% and 7.94% greater than that of the Warren Truss, respectively. The analysis further reveals that the locally derived seismic parameters generate higher internal forces, DCR values, and support reactions than those obtained from SNI 2833:2016, although their influence on structural deflection is relatively insignificant. Based on the evaluation of DCR, deflection, structural weight, and support reactions, the Warren Truss is identified as the most optimal configuration for a 60 m span steel truss bridge. This truss type provides the best balance of structural safety, stiffness, stability, and material efficiency. The findings of this study may serve as a reference for selecting steel truss configurations and highlight the importance of incorporating site-specific seismic characteristics into bridge design.

Abstract

Early mathematics often appears in routines and play, but the pedagogical processes by which teachers make these experiences mathematically explicit remain underdescribed, particularly across contrasting resource contexts. This qualitative multi-site case study examined how teachers in one urban kindergarten in Makassar City and one rural kindergarten in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, integrated mathematical activities into the daily experiences of children aged 5–6 years. Five adult informants—three teachers and two principals—participated; children were observed as classroom participants, but individual learning outcomes were not measured. Data from non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews, photographs, videos, field notes, and lesson documents were analyzed through inductive first-cycle coding followed by framework-guided mapping to six Realistic Mathematics Education principles and Bishop’s six mathematical activities. Across the two cases, reported practices were analytically consistent with reality, activity, levels, intertwinement, interactivity, and guidance. Counting, measuring, locating, designing, playing, and explaining were identified in routine classroom activity. The urban site relied more on structured media and teacher-directed routines, whereas the rural site drew more on natural materials, movement, and environmental exploration. These patterns suggest—without establishing causality or learning effectiveness—that different resource ecologies can support comparable forms of contextual mathematical mediation. The study contributes a non-causal analytic framework linking contextual resources, teacher mediation, and visible mathematical activity. Transferability is limited by the two-site design, incomplete child-level reporting, and the absence of measured learning gains. Future research should use larger samples, detailed video coding, multiple analysts, and longitudinal or design-based methods.

Abstract

This study examines how principal leadership supports the development of teachers' digital competence in a resource-constrained faith-based junior high school in Nabire, Papua. A descriptive qualitative case-study design was used to investigate the leadership process within one school. The principal served as the primary participant, while teacher informants provided supporting perspectives. Data were generated through semi-structured interviews and direct school-based observations and analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings identify six interrelated practices: role modelling and motivation, participatory digital-program planning, annual training and peer mentoring, technology-focused supervision, incremental resource mobilization, and adaptive responses to internet and device constraints. Participant accounts and observations indicated increased use of presentations and instructional videos and greater student engagement during some technology-supported lessons. The study did not directly measure achievement gains or establish causal effects. The case suggests that digital leadership in resource-constrained schools operates as an adaptive support cycle combining professional learning, distributed peer expertise, supervision, and infrastructure improvisation. The findings are transferable primarily to schools with comparable organizational and infrastructural conditions.

Abstract

Rainfed agriculture is highly vulnerable to rainfall variability and limited irrigation infrastructure, resulting in unstable agricultural production, particularly during prolonged dry periods. This study aimed to develop a detailed engineering design for an integrated solar-powered irrigation system equipped with Internet of Things monitoring for rainfed farmland in Kembang Sari Village. The study employed a research-and-development approach focusing on electrical-load analysis, photovoltaic and battery sizing, pump and reservoir configuration, hydraulic-system design, and sensor-based monitoring architecture. The proposed system integrates photovoltaic modules, a solar charge controller, lithium iron phosphate batteries, an inverter, a 1.5-hp irrigation pump, a water reservoir, and sensors for soil moisture, water level, flow rate, battery condition, and pump status. The results showed a total connected load of 1,156 W and a daily energy requirement of approximately 6,019 Wh. Considering an overall system efficiency of 80% and five peak-sun hours per day, the required generation capacity was estimated at 7,523.75 Wh/day. The recommended configuration consists of seven 250-Wp photovoltaic modules with a total capacity of 1.75 kWp, a minimum 50-A charge controller, a 6-kW inverter, and two 48-V 100-Ah lithium iron phosphate batteries. The hydraulic subsystem uses a pump with an estimated 12-m head and a 36-m³ reservoir to support a target water supply of approximately 36 m³/day. The integrated monitoring system enables remote supervision, automatic protection, and data-informed irrigation management. The design provides a technically coherent basis for prototype construction, although field validation is required to assess actual solar generation, pump performance, water adequacy, sensor reliability, maintenance requirements, and economic feasibility.

Abstract

Livestock feed production in small- and medium-scale farming still relies heavily on manual control and limited energy monitoring, resulting in operational inefficiency, higher production costs, and difficulty in tracking real-time electricity consumption. This study aimed to design a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)-based monitoring and control system for a livestock feed production machine integrated with a solar photovoltaic power system. The research employed a Research and Development approach, involving problem identification, literature review, descriptive field analysis, hardware and software design, PLC ladder diagram development, and Human Machine Interface dashboard design. The proposed system integrates key SCADA components, including PLC, HMI, sensors, power meter, communication modules, and photovoltaic energy support. The design results show that the system can monitor electrical parameters such as voltage, current, power, energy consumption, and frequency in real time. The HMI dashboard enables operators to access data through tables, graphs, historical records, control menus, and alarm threshold settings. The study concludes that integrating SCADA with solar-powered livestock feed production technology can improve monitoring accuracy, operational efficiency, system safety, and energy sustainability. This research contributes to the development of smart farming technology by offering a conceptual model for automated, renewable-energy-based production systems. Future studies should focus on prototype implementation, field testing, cost-benefit analysis, and performance evaluation under different livestock production conditions.

Abstract

Mapanget District is a peri-urban growth area of Manado City where residential development has altered the composition and configuration of land use. This study reanalyzes a consistent 2014, 2019, and 2024 land-use series and uses landscape metrics to distinguish patch proliferation from spatial consolidation. Google Earth imagery was interpreted visually, digitized on screen, processed in ArcMap 10.8, and converted to raster for FRAGSTATS 4.2 analysis. The 2026 map is reported only as a separate descriptive snapshot because its class legend is not equivalent to the 2014-2024 classification. Between 2014 and 2024, residential land increased by 172.82 ha, while plantation and wasteland decreased by 154.80 ha and 37.42 ha, respectively. At the landscape level, Number of Patches increased from 1,152 to 1,530, Patch Density from 21.63 to 28.70 patches per 100 ha, Edge Density from 102.38 to 119.33 m/ha, and Shannon's Diversity Index from 1.22 to 1.27. Residential patches increased from 489 to 747; however, the slight decline after 2019 and the rise in residential Largest Patch Index from 1.44% to 3.29% indicate partial coalescence alongside continued outward expansion. The 2026 snapshot records 1,199.26 ha of settlement and 2,699.91 ha of plantation, but these values are not used to infer a continuous trend. The findings support compact, infrastructure-connected growth and stronger protection of remaining non-built-up land. Interpretation is limited by the absence of an independent accuracy assessment, a harmonized 2026 legend, and a class-to-class transition matrix.
