Abstract

Coil-on-plug (COP) ignition faults can involve the coil, connector, harness, and electronic control unit (ECU), yet a single workshop case cannot establish the initiating component or transient chronology. This evidence-classified diagnostic case examined one Daihatsu Xenia 1.0 Non-VVT-i with an EJ-DE three-cylinder gasoline engine presenting vibration, misfire, reported loss of power, and reported increased fuel consumption. The available field record documented visual inspection, multimeter observations of supply and ignition trigger/feedback (IGT/IGF) lines, coil substitution, guarded substitution with a known-good ECU, on-board diagnostics II (OBD-II) scanning, internal ECU and connector inspection, corrective repair, and preliminary workshop verification. The multimeter did not detect comparable IGT/IGF indications on cylinders 2 and 3; replacing the suspected coils did not resolve the symptoms; and the donor ECU displayed diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0300, P0352, P0353, and P0171. Degraded female connector contacts and visible damage along the original ECU ignition-driver path were subsequently observed. Repair of the documented defects was followed by restored continuity and stable operation during an unspecified workshop observation period. The evidence supports system-level diagnosis of an interconnected coil-connector-ECU fault, but not a proven cascade from coil switching to ECU damage. The principal contribution is a transparent reporting framework that separates direct observation, diagnostically supported interpretation, and unmeasured mechanism. The case also provides a safety-conscious diagnostic sequence for workshop and proposed vocational-learning use.

Abstract

Angkot, a route-based urban paratransit or public minibus service, remains an important component of daily mobility in Manado City. However, its predominantly supply-based operating pattern does not systematically adjust vehicle deployment to hourly passenger demand, which can produce low occupancy during off-peak periods and insufficient capacity during demand peaks. This study integrates machine-learning-based hourly passenger-demand prediction with an integer-constrained fleet-sizing model for the Paal Dua-Pasar 45 route. Direct observations were collected for 21 days, from 25 May to 14 June 2026, through an on-board survey of one angkot and a separate vehicle-headway survey; 1,538 passenger boardings were directly recorded. Random Forest and XGBoost were compared using a chronological 80:20 holdout and Leave-One-Day-Out Cross-Validation (LODO). Random Forest remained the better-performing model after tuning (LODO R² = 0.462; MAE = 0.76) compared with XGBoost (R² = 0.421; MAE = 0.83). The selected predictions were transformed from vehicle-level boardings to estimated corridor demand using observed hourly vehicle frequency and were then entered into the fleet-sizing model. The model-derived corridor demand averaged 57 passengers per hour, and the resulting fleet requirement averaged six vehicles, ranging from five to nine vehicles. Because corridor demand was inferred from one directly surveyed vehicle and predictive performance was moderate, these fleet values should be interpreted as route-specific planning estimates rather than externally validated operating prescriptions. The study demonstrates a practical framework for linking demand prediction with adaptive fleet allocation while highlighting the need for multi-vehicle validation and uncertainty-aware deployment.

Abstract

Working university students may experience academic–work role conflict when study requirements and paid employment compete for limited time and energy. This bounded qualitative case study examined the stressors experienced by student employees, the coping responses they used, and the contribution of social and organizational resources. The case comprised two university students (KN and RA) employed in a service-sector coffee shop in Semarang, Indonesia, and the workplace owner (OW) as a supporting informant. Data were generated through interviews, observation, and documentation and analyzed through an interactive process of data condensation, display, and conclusion verification. Five interrelated stressor clusters were identified: schedule and time conflict, academic demands, dual-role fatigue, family expectations, and self-imposed pressure concerning study completion. The students used problem-focused coping through prioritization and solution seeking and emotion-focused coping through rest, emotional regulation, interpersonal disclosure, and spiritual practice. Support seeking was distinguished from received support; peer encouragement and employer-provided schedule flexibility functioned as external protective resources. The case suggests that adaptation is shaped by interactions among stress appraisal, coping behavior, and contextual resources. Higher-education counseling should therefore combine individual coping development with early overload identification, flexible academic advising, peer support, and context-sensitive coordination with employers. Comparative, longitudinal, and mixed-method research is needed to test the transferability of this case-derived framework.

Abstract

Rural palm sugar producers increasingly combine traditional processing with photovoltaic systems, but production, quality, cost, and solar-use records often remain fragmented. This study designed and field-demonstrated a low-cost web-based administration system for Kelompok Tani Talaut Jaya in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Following design science research, the study analyzed the group's paper forms, developed a Google Sheets and Google Apps Script prototype, demonstrated the artifact across several production cycles, and revised it through field observation and informal user feedback. The group leader and several producers used the system through four functional roles: operator, quality control, leadership, and administrator. The artifact integrates five modules: raw-material receiving, daily production, output quality, production-cost calculation, and solar-energy-use logging. Functional verification covered role-based access, transaction recording, automated calculation of Harga Pokok Produksi (HPP), and monthly PDF report generation. The evaluation was descriptive; exact user numbers, transaction volumes, task-completion times, error rates, and standardized acceptance scores were not formally recorded. The verified final forms contain six, six, six, five, and six data-entry fields, respectively. Only the production-cost module retained a documented initial count of ten fields, so the study does not claim a measured reduction across all modules. The solar-energy module documents utilization conditions but does not quantify energy savings or causal production effects. The findings support feasibility in one partner setting and require multi-site validation using formal usability, accuracy, time, and metered-energy measures.
