Abstract

This study examines the use of Dutch legal terms in the Indonesian legal system and their impact on judicial practice. The research is based on the continued application of colonial regulations that preserve Dutch terminology in the Criminal Code, Civil Code, procedural law, and court decisions. A qualitative approach was applied through document analysis of legislation, legal literature, and judicial rulings. The analysis focuses on identifying types of Dutch terms, translation patterns, and shifts in meaning. The findings reveal inconsistent translation practices that lead to divergent interpretations among legal practitioners. This situation affects the assessment of criminal elements, evidentiary processes, and public understanding of legal proceedings. The study highlights the need for standardization of legal language and the development of a national legal glossary to strengthen legal certainty and improve access to justice.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Indonesian language in enhancing the sales competitiveness and promotional effectiveness of the Home Cookies and Snack MSME. The research focuses on the forms of Indonesian language use in promotional activities and its contribution to consumer attractiveness and increased product sales. A qualitative approach was employed, with the research conducted at the Home Cookies and Snack MSME located on Jalan 23 Januari, Ipilo Subdistrict. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the business owner as the main informant, as well as employees as supporting informants who were directly engaged in promotional and customer service activities. The findings indicate that the use of communicative, polite, and persuasive Indonesian language plays a significant role in conveying product information, building consumer trust, and creating emotional closeness that encourages purchase intention and repeat buying. Indonesian language functions not only as a medium for delivering promotional messages but also as a means of shaping business image and identity. However, the use of promotional language remains largely spontaneous and has not been systematically designed as a long-term marketing strategy. This study concludes that optimizing the planned and consistent use of the Indonesian language can serve as an effective strategy to improve MSME sales competitiveness.

Abstract

Indonesian is the official language of the country which has an important role in supporting economic processes, particularly in the tourism sector. This study aims to identify the role of the Indonesian language in interactions between managers and visitors at Shava Beach Resort, located in Kabila District, Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo. The research employed a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that Indonesian functions not only as a means of communication but also as a medium for learning as well as an effective and communicative promotional tool. The use of Indonesian in conveying information and providing services enhances the quality of tourists' experiences and strengthens the brand image of the tourist destination. Therefore, the Indonesian language plays an important role in the development of the tourism economic process in this region.

Abstract

Konsep tata kelola pemerintahan yang baik sebagian besar telah dibingkai sebagai model normatif yang menekankan transparansi, akuntabilitas, partisipasi, dan supremasi hukum. Namun, orientasi normatif tersebut seringkali terbukti tidak cukup untuk menjelaskan variasi yang terus-menerus dalam hasil kebijakan di antara pemerintah daerah yang beroperasi di bawah prinsip tata kelola yang serupa. Artikel ini mengajukan rekonseptualisasi teoretis tentang tata kelola pemerintahan yang baik dengan memposisikannya sebagai bentuk meta-tata kelola kapasitas pemerintahan di mana negara menyusun, mengoordinasikan, dan mengarahkan interaksi di antara berbagai aktor publik dan non-publik dalam jaringan kebijakan. Dengan mengacu pada teori meta-tata kelola dan literatur tentang tata kelola jaringan, studi ini berpendapat bahwa efektivitas tata kelola pemerintahan yang baik kurang bergantung pada kepatuhan formal terhadap prinsip-prinsip normatif daripada pada kapasitas negara untuk mengatur jaringan tata kelola. Berdasarkan analisis kualitatif berbasis kasus terhadap praktik tata kelola lokal, temuan menunjukkan bahwa transparansi dan akuntabilitas saja tidak cukup tanpa koordinasi yang efektif, otoritas relasional, dan mekanisme pengarahan kelembagaan. Artikel ini berkontribusi pada teori tata kelola dengan menggeser fokus analitis tata kelola yang baik dari kepatuhan prinsip ke orkestrasi jaringan, menawarkan kerangka kerja yang lebih peka terhadap konteks dan kuat secara analitis untuk memahami efektivitas tata kelola dalam pengaturan tata kelola terdesentralisasi.

Abstract

The use of simple Indonesian in public health education is an important strategy for improving the effectiveness of health information delivery. This study aims to analyze the implementation of health education in community health centers, the use of simple Indonesian, community response and comprehension levels, and its impact on participation and health behavior. Health education is carried out regularly through various activities with the support of visual and print media. The results of the analysis show that the use of simple, clear, and easy-to-understand language improves community understanding, encourages active participation, and helps the acceptance of messages related to disease prevention and clean and healthy living behaviors. Although there are obstacles in the form of regional language differences, adjustments in the delivery methods by health workers can overcome these obstacles. Thus, the use of simple Indonesian plays an important role in supporting the success of public health education.

Abstract

This study discusses the use of effective sentence structure in the text of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and its influence on the understanding of norms. The study was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach through a documentary study of several articles of the 1945 Constitution that have long and complex sentence structures. The analysis focused on syntactic elements and sentence effectiveness based on the principles of clarity, unity of meaning, and language efficiency. The result of the study indicates that sentences that are structured simply and clearly are easier to understand than compound sentences that are layered and long, although they still contain complete normative meaning. Effective sentence structure helps reduce norm ambiguity, increases legal certainty, and makes it easier for the public, academics, and students to understand the contents of the 1945 Constitution. Therefore, improving the quality of sentence structure in the text of the 1945 Constitution is important so that norms can be understood more clearly and are accessible to all levels of society.

Abstract

Indonesian is the official language of the country and plays a crucial role in conveying environmental health information and education in public spaces, particularly at tourist destinations. This study aims to identify the role of Indonesian in facilitating environmental health education for tourists and the community at Olohuta Beach Tourism, Kabila Bone District, Bone Bolango Regency. The research method used was descriptive with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that Indonesian was used on health warning boards and in direct communication between managers, vendors, and visitors. The use of clear, polite, and easy-to-understand Indonesian language increased visitors' understanding and awareness of the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness and health. Thus, Indonesian plays a strategic role as a medium for environmental health education in supporting public health efforts at the Olohuta Beach tourist destination.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of standard Indonesian language usage in the drafting of indictments at the Gorontalo High Prosecutor’s Office, particularly in relation to clarity of meaning, structural accuracy, and the effectiveness of legal communication. The research employs a qualitative-descriptive method, with data collected through document analysis of selected indictments, interviews with prosecutors responsible for drafting the indictments, and observation of the indictment preparation process. Data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing to identify patterns of language use and their implications for the quality of legal documents. The findings indicate that the use of standard Indonesian plays a crucial role in ensuring legal certainty, preventing ambiguity, and strengthening juridical argumentation in indictments.

Abstract

This study analyzes the aesthetics of karawo motifs, a distinctive Gorontalo embroidery art, from the perspective of Indonesian Language, focusing on patterns, meanings, and visual language. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed through observation, interviews with artisans from Karawo Naga Mas in Mongolato Village, Telaga Jaya Subdistrict, and documentation to reveal the consistency of traditional patterns like the flower bud motif that adapts to modern trends, cultural symbolism such as beauty and fertility, and visual elements of lines, shapes, colors, and repetitions forming Gorontalo's identity. The findings indicate that karawo's aesthetics integrate innovative patterns, symbolic meanings, and visual language as a medium for cultural communication supporting local heritage preservation.​

Abstract

Linguistic politeness plays a crucial role in building social interactions, particularly in tourist areas that bring together local communities and tourists from diverse cultural backgrounds. The whale shark tourism area in Botu Barani Village is one such space where intense interactions occur. This article aims to examine the forms of linguistic politeness displayed by local residents and visitors, as well as the factors that influence them. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method through observation of social interactions and a literature review. The results indicate that the people of Botu Barani Village generally employ polite, friendly, and persuasive speech as part of their tourism services. Meanwhile, most visitors also demonstrate polite language, although some instances of language use are not in line with local norms. Overall, linguistic politeness has been shown to contribute significantly to creating a safe, comfortable, and harmonious tourism atmosphere.
