Abstract

Language is an important communication tool in daily interactions. Language in communication must be used as well as possible. The success of using language in the process of communication is not only by choosing good diction, but also needs to be aligned with the context of communication (pragmatics). Cooperative principles is one of the principles of communication in pragmatics. Grice's cooperativeprinciple in term of creating an effective communication is categorized into four principles, namely: (1) the principle of quantity; (2) the principle of quality; (3) the principle of relevance; and (4) the principle of implementation. The purpose of this study is to describe the fulfillment of Grice's cooperative principle in the conversation of the Chinese animation film xiong xiong le yuan 3. The research method used is qualitative descriptive. The results of the study shows that there is fulfillment of Grice's cooperative principle in the animation film xiong xiong le yuan 3. Fulfillment is carried out by applying Grice's cooperative principle in every communication made by speakers and speech partners. The application of the principle of good cooperation in an animated film can also produce a good impact in conveying the messages contained in an animated film to the audience.

Abstract

The phenomenon of code switching and code mixing has become commonplace in everyday life. Code switching is a situation where someone uses different language changes in communicating. Meanwhile, code mixing is a situation where someone mixes two or more languages ​​in communicating. The purpose of this study is to describe the form of code switching and code mixing contained in the song Letting Go. The method used is qualitative by collecting data and the results are presented descriptively. This study uses a sociolinguistic study approach. The results of the research show that there is a form of code switching and code mixing in the song. The form of code switching contained in the lyrics of the song Letting Go is in the form of intersentential switching. This form of code switching occurs between clauses or sentence boundaries, where language switching occurs at sentence boundaries in different languages, namely from Mandarin to English or vice versa. Then, the form of code mixing contained in this study is in the form of inserting elements in the form of repetition of words.

Abstract

Online Distance Learning (online PJJ) at the Jakarta State University Mandarin Language Education Study Program (PSPBM UNJ) was initiated by "compulsion" due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but in its journey, online PJJ was seen as a program worth developing. Online PJJ is seen as an option to overcome space and time limitations. Therefore PSPBM UNJ intends to carry out activities for the Development of Chinese Language Online PJJ Models. This activity is the initiation of the Mandarin Language PJJ Daring Program development activity. In order to guarantee the quality of an activity or program, an evaluation activity is absolutely necessary. The word Evaluation comes from the English evaluation which contains the basic word value "value". The word value or value in evaluation terms is related to the belief that something is good or bad, right or wrong, strong or weak, sufficient or not enough, and so on. As the first stage of the Mandarin Language Online PJJ Model Development activity, in 2021 PSPBM UNJ has carried out evaluation activities on the implementation of online PJJ during the Covid-19 pandemic. This activity is carried out through student thesis research activities. Research activities are focused on evaluating the implementation of online PJJ linguistics courses which cover 4 language skills, namely listening, speaking, reading, and writing, as well as Mandarin knowledge courses, namely Grammar. Each study includes research on the conditions of student motivation, the obstacles faced by students, and online learning media used in learning activities. The results of this research are contained in fifteen thesis research reports of PSPBM UNJ students. This article discusses the overall results of this research.

Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 telah membuat dunia pendidikan berpacu mengubah diri. Pada masa pandemi, pelaksanaan pembelajaran di Indonesia berganti menjadi pembelajaran jarak jauh dalam jaringan (PJJ daring) termasuk pada jenjang SMA. Pada pelaksanaan PJJ daring, berbagai aplikasi berbasis internet digunakan untuk menunjang pembelajaran, termasuk pembelajaran mata pelajaran Bahasa Mandarin. Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan pemanfaatan aplikasi digital pada pembelajaran mata pelajaran Bahasa Mandarin di SMA yang berlokasi di Jakarta, yaitu SMAN 11, SMAN 19, dan SMAN 64 Jakarta. Aplikasi digital digunakan untuk melaksanakan keterampilan komperhensif bahasa Mandarin. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa teknik observasi dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini memaparkan bahwa terdapat aplikasi yang paling banyak digunakan di ketiga SMA tersebut. Hasil observasi menunjukkan, terdapat tiga aplikasi yang digunakan pada pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin, yaitu (1) Aplikasi Zoom digunakan di SMAN 11 Jakarta; (2) Aplikasi Google Classroom digunakan di SMAN 19 Jakarta, (3) Aplikasi Spotify digunakan di SMAN 64 Jakarta. Hasil penelitian ini bermanfaat untuk menambah wawasan terkait pemanfaatan aplikasi digital sebagai media pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin selama PJJ daring. Selain itu dapat menjadi salah satu referensi pengajar dalam mengembangkan variasi media pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin.

Abstract

In order to stop the spread and transmission of Covid-19, the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republic Indonesia has changed the learning system in Indonesia from face-to-face to distance learning, one of which is online distance learning. The implementation of online distance learning has limitations that affect the enthusiasm and motivation to learn. This study is conducted to describe student learning motivation, with a focus on the intrinsic motivation of students of the Department of Chinese Language Education State University of Jakarta (PSPBM UNJ) in online distance learning Basic Writing Courses. The data collection technique in this study adopted a Likert scale survey method and distributed by Google Form Intrinsic motivation theory in this study is based on Fitriyani's theory which is developed into 7 indicators, those are concentration, curiosity, enthusiasm, independence, readiness, never give up, and self-confidence. Respondents are 46 students who took Basic Writing Courses level 1 to 4 at PSPBM UNJ.. The results of the study show: (1) students can concentrate during lesson in class; (2) students have a curiosity about the material that will be delivered during lesson in class; (3) students have enthusiasm when attending class; (4) students have a sense of independence in learning; (5) students are better prepared mentally, compared to prepared physically; (6) students have persistent attitude in learning to write in Chinese; and (7) students have self-confidence during lesson in class.

Abstract

Learning Mandarin has been made easier by taking advantage of current technological developments, because there are many ways on how we can learn Mandarin by using a communication tool, in which almost all citizens in the world use a device called a mobile phone. So only with the internet and cellphone capital can we start learning language. Therefore, there are lots of applications that can make it easier to learn Mandarin without having to leave the house, one of the applications that will be discussed is the Chinese Conversation application. With this research helping students learn conversational Mandarin, it also explains the importance of conversation in learning Mandarin. In the research mmethod carried out steps such as research design, and data collection techniques with questionnaires to students. And the results of the study are that by using the Chinese Conversation application students can be made easier with the advantages that exist in the application features, and make students interested because there are fun words and pictures in learning Mandarin.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the Chinese cultural values ​​contained in the animated film Wish Dragon by Chris Appelhans. Wish Dragon (希望龙) is a 2021 animated film that tells about the friendship between dragon and human named Long and Din. This research is used the theory of sociology of literature and the theory of cultural values. The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. The data in this study are in the form of conversations spoken by each character that contains Chinese cultural values. The data source in this research is the animated film Wish Dragon released in 2021 by Chris Appelhans with the main character Jackie Chan. Data collection techniques used in this study are listening and note-taking techniques. The researcher analyzes Chinese cultural values ​​through Confucianism and Taoism approaches. This Chinese cultural value is found in conversations between the main characters, namely Din, Long and Lina. Researchers found that there were 6 data on Chinese cultural values ​​in the Wish Dragon movie. Among them are divided into 3 cultural values ​​in Confucianism, namely the principle of Xiao (respect), the philosophy of humanism, and the concept of Yi (benevolence). 3 Taoism cultural values ​​which include Yin and Yang in food, doing good (te) and Yin and Yang in chi.

Abstract

The Chinese language has developed rapidly in recent years, especially after the launch of the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Chinese language proficiency test. The HSK Standardization Exam intended for foreign students consists of basic levels namely HSK 1 and HSK 2, intermediate levels namely HSK 3 and HSK 4, and high levels namely HSK 5 and HSk 6. HSK 3 which is classified as an intermediate level is the starting point for learning difficulties for foreign students in where the use of pronunciation aids began to be phased out. This study focuses on analyzing the needs of developing interactive multimedia using the Lectora Inspire application to increase the proficiency of students who have been studying for the HSK 3 exam. The ability and fluency of teachers in the use of multimedia equipment and multimedia-based learning processes is a strong foundation in future product development. The results showed that the use of interactive multimedia can help students understand HSK 3 learning and increase student motivation in learning. Students stated that the existence of interactive multimedia made the learning process more interesting and easier. This underlies the development of interactive multimedia-based HSK learning materials.

Abstract

In today's era of globalization, there has been an explosion of information throughout the world. The implication of the information explosion phenomenon is the increasing demand for qualified translators. Before translating, a translator must know the theories about translation, especially regarding the type of equivalence of translation, thereby the translation is more accurate and deviations in translation can be avoided. One of the aspects of these is the type of equivalence in translation. This research aims to find out the number of formal equivalences, dynamic equivalences, and deviations in the results of translations of Mandarin informative texts by PSPBM UNJ students class of 2015. Starting from the word level equivalence, above the word level equivalence and grammatical equivalence. This research also describes various findings related to the types of translation equivalences that exist in the translations. The data in this research is limited to words, phrases, clauses, and sentences translated by PSPBM UNJ students towards one of the texts given in the Mandarin-Indonesian Translation course. This research use content analysis method. The results of the analysis show that equivalence of translation at the word levelreaches 81.8%; at the level above the word level reaches 75% and for grammatical equivalence reaches 47.2%. Based on the findings of this research, the authors found that although the results of the 2015 class of PSPBM UNJ students' translations were mostly equivalent, there are still deviations in conveying information into target language. The results of this research can be used to broaden the reader's insight related to translation theory, especially regarding equivalence in translation.

Abstract

Foreign language learning is inseparable from translation activities. Translation activities are carried out in the Mandarin skills course at Jakarta University Mandarin Education Study Program. In order to translate from the source language (SL) to target language (TL) and produce an equivalent translation, apart from the need for proper techniques and methods, it is also necessary for translators to understand the type of text and the type of meaning. The aim of this study is to describe the equivalence of translation of 1 selected text translated by 10 students of 6th semester PSPBM UNJ, using the theory of equivalence of traslation by Baker. This study is limited to classifying equivalence based on type, and has not yet done furhter analysis on wether the equivalence is classified as formal, dynamic, and equivalene in term of context. The result showed that 49% of the translations include equivalence at word level, 19% equivalence above word level, 19% grammatical equivalence, 13 % pragmatic equivalence, and 6% textual equivalence.
