Abstract

The preschool years (ages 3–5) are a critical period for school readiness, marked by significant improvements in fine motor skills that serve as the foundation for writing and daily activities. Fine motor impairments can cause difficulties in writing, cutting, buttoning clothes, and poor hand-eye coordination, which may affect a child's independence, academic performance, and behavior. Stimulation through play therapy and early detection using Denver II screening are essential to prevent developmental delays. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of Evidence Based Practice Nursing (EBPN) play therapy with plasticine in improving fine motor development in preschool children with fine motor disorders. A case study design was used with three preschool-aged children who had fine motor deficits based on Denver II screening. The plasticine play therapy intervention was given four times a week for 60 minutes per session. Evaluation was conducted using pretest and posttest Denver II fine motor sector after the fourth day of intervention. The results showed that all three respondents experienced improved fine motor skills. Denver II screening results in the fine motor sector shifted from the "suspect" category to "normal." In conclusion, plasticine play therapy is effective in enhancing fine motor skills of preschool children. This intervention can be applied by nurses to stimulate child growth and development and can be taught to parents as independent stimulation at home.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the major noncommunicable diseases and a significant global health problem due to its increasing prevalence and its risk of causing cardiovascular disease, stroke, kidney failure, and premature death. Blood pressure control can be achieved through pharmacological and nonpharmacological therapies, one of which is Isometric Handgrip Exercise (IHE), a static contraction exercise using a handgrip device that may improve vascular function and reduce blood pressure. This study aimed to implement IHE to reduce blood pressure in patients with hypertension. A case study design using an Evidence-Based Nursing Practice (EBNP) approach was conducted involving three patients with hypertension. IHE was administered once daily for three consecutive days, with each session lasting 14 minutes. Blood pressure was measured before and after the intervention using a sphygmomanometer. The results showed a mean reduction in systolic blood pressure of 10.67 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of 6.67 mmHg. Patients also reported feeling more relaxed and experiencing reduced hand stiffness. The implementation of IHE may help lower blood pressure and can be used as a simple, safe, and easily applicable nonpharmacological nursing intervention.

Abstract

Auditory hallucinations are common positive symptoms in patients with schizophrenia, characterized by sensory perceptions occurring without external stimuli. This nursing case study aimed to document and analyze the application of Al-Qur’an murottal audio therapy (Surah Ar-Rahman) in reducing hallucination scores among patients with auditory hallucinations. A descriptive case study design was used involving six respondents diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia at Yayasan Bagus Mandiri Insani Palembang. The intervention consisted of listening to murottal Surah Ar-Rahman through an MP3 player and earphones for 15 minutes once daily for three consecutive days, from 25 to 27 June 2026. Hallucination levels were assessed using the Auditory Hallucinations Rating Scale (AHRS) before and after each therapy session. Following the three-day intervention, five of the six respondents demonstrated meaningful reductions in total AHRS scores. Improvements were particularly observed in the ability to control voices, as well as reduced loudness, duration, negative content, and pressure of the voices. Patients also reported feeling calmer and more relaxed. Therefore, Al-Qur’an murottal audio therapy (Surah Ar-Rahman) may be considered a complementary nursing intervention to help reduce auditory hallucination symptoms in patients with schizophrenia.

Abstract

Background: Uncaria gambir (gambir) is an Indonesian medicinal plant rich in catechins, procyanidins, tannins, and indole alkaloids. Its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, angiogenic, and extracellular-matrix-modulating activities have prompted interest in topical dermatology, although the evidence has not been critically integrated. Objective: To synthesize direct gambir evidence relevant to skin disease, distinguish it from broader catechin-class extrapolation, and define priorities for clinical translation. Methods: A structured narrative search of PubMed/MEDLINE, Google Scholar, Crossref-linked publisher records, and reference lists was conducted through 29 July 2026. Dermatology-related gambir studies were organized by indication and appraised according to chemical characterization, model relevance, dose-response assessment, controls, and human evidence. Findings: The evidence remains predominantly preclinical and heterogeneous. The most coherent signal concerns keloid biology, with linked computational, fibroblast, and ex vivo findings involving TGF-β1, AKT1, PDGF-related signaling, collagen, cytoglobin, proliferation, and migration. Wound findings are mixed, psoriasis evidence is limited to early formulation and animal studies, and acne, pigmentation, photoprotection, and photoaging data are mainly laboratory based. Implication: Gambir is a promising development candidate, but clinical use is not justified without botanical authentication, marker-based standardization, dermal safety testing, delivery studies, and phased human trials.

Abstract

Preventing workplace accidents in construction projects relies heavily on the level of worker discipline and compliance regarding the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Despite established Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, worker non-compliance remains a common issue in the field, posing a significant challenge for safety management. This study aims to analyze in depth the relationship between factors such as knowledge, attitude, supervision, and PPE availability and the compliance with PPE usage in the work area. Using a quantitative cross-sectional design, 80 respondents were selected via accidental sampling from a total workforce of 355 at PT Huathai Constructions Indonesia. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using a staged approach (univariate, bivariate, and multivariate). Bivariate analysis revealed that all independent variables—knowledge, attitude, supervision, and PPE availability were significantly associated with compliance (p < 0.05). Multivariate analysis identified PPE availability as the strongest predictor (p = 0.007; OR = 25.492). The study concludes that ensuring the availability of safety equipment by the company is the primary factor in improving worker compliance with OHS standards.

Abstract

Postoperative pain is a major problem experienced by breast cancer patients because it can hinder recovery, reduce mobility, and affect quality of life. The Benson relaxation technique is a non-pharmacological intervention that may reduce pain intensity by inducing a relaxation response through deep breathing, concentration on specific words or phrases, and acceptance. This study aimed to determine the effect of applying the Benson relaxation technique on pain intensity in postoperative breast cancer patients at Dr. Moewardi Hospital, Surakarta. The study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The population consisted of 35 respondents selected using consecutive sampling based on predetermined inclusion criteria. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), and data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that the mean pain intensity decreased from 6.03 before the intervention to 4.20 after the intervention. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test produced Z = −5.283 and p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of the Benson relaxation technique on postoperative pain intensity. Therefore, the Benson relaxation technique is effective in reducing pain intensity and can be used as an adjunct non-pharmacological therapy in postoperative pain management.

Abstract

A health information system that supports the improvement of service quality through digital patient data management is known as Electronic Medical Records (EMDR). The success of EMR implementation can be seen from the level of user satisfaction. Mardi Lestari General Hospital, Sragen, has implemented EMR in various service units, but user evaluation has never been conducted. This study aims to analyze EMR user satisfaction based on the dimensions of content, accuracy, format, ease of use, and timeliness using the End User Computing Satisfaction (EUCS) method. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method. Data were obtained through observation, semi-structured interviews, and source triangulation. Research informants were EMR users in outpatient, inpatient, and emergency units selected by purposive sampling. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, triangulation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that users were generally satisfied with the use of EMR. The available information was assessed as appropriate to service needs, accurate, easy to understand, and supports work efficiency. The system was also able to provide information quickly to support patient care. However, several obstacles were still found, such as features that have not been optimally integrated, a fairly crowded display, and network disruptions that affect access speed. It can be concluded that the implementation of RME at RSU Mardi Lestari Sragen has provided satisfaction to users. However, system development is still needed, especially in feature integration, display improvements, and network quality improvements to support more optimal services.
