Abstract

This research aims to develop mathematics learning media in the form of games. Apart from that, this research aims to determine the feasibility and find out whether the learning media being developed is appropriate and can improve students' understanding abilities in mathematics subjects. This type of research is development research with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The research subjects were class VII students at YP Sunan Dalem Gumeno Middle School. The research instruments used in this research were (1) Interview Guide (2) Validation Sheet (3) Student Response Questionnaire (4) Mathematical Understanding Ability Test Questions. The mathematics learning media in the form of games developed is expected to improve students' mathematical understanding abilities. The validation results from media experts and material experts respectively obtained an average of 4.4 and 4.2 with valid criteria. The validation results of the mathematical understanding ability test obtained an average score of 4.2 with valid criteria. The results of the student response questionnaire obtained an average practicality of 4.2 with practical criteria. The results of the mathematical understanding ability test were carried out using a t-test using the SPSS program and the results showed that the significant value was 0.000 < 0.05, meaning that students' mathematical understanding ability after using game learning media was better before using the game learning media, so it can be concluded that the learning media Games can improve students' mathematical understanding abilities and can be said to be effective. The results of this research show that learning media is said to be valid, practical, and effective. In other words, game-based mathematics learning media can improve students' mathematical understanding abilities.

Abstract

This research is descriptive using a qualitative approach, which has the aim of describing the errors that students have made when solving contextual problems. Error analysis was carried out using Newman's indicators and reviewed based on student learning styles. The research subjects of class VII MTs Miftahul Ulum were three students, the selection of subjects was based on filling out a learning style questionnaire. Data collection methods in this study were written tests, questionnaires, and interviews. Data analysis in this study is data reduction, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the study, it was found that (i) students with visual learning style showed signs of error in process skills and in writing the final answer (ii) students with auditory learning style showed signs of error in process skills indicators and writing the final answer (iii) students with kinesthetic learning style showed signs of error in understanding indicators, process skills and writing the final answer. The factors that cause students to make mistakes are that students usually make mistakes for two reasons, namely they have minimal knowledge of the material and they rarely practice contextual problems or other problems.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the difficulty of students in solving story problems in terms of cognitive style. Indicators of difficulty in the study are students' difficulties in using concepts, students' difficulties in using principles, and students' difficulties in solving verbal problems. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data collection techniques used were written tests and interview techniques. The results showed that field-dependent subjects were able to understand concepts and were able to use principles, field-dependent subjects tended not to be able to solve verbal problems and had difficulty not being able to understand what was known and not being able to understand the form of mathematical models.  While field-independent subjects can understand concepts and can use principles, field-independent subjects tend not to be able to solve verbal problems and have difficulty not being able to understand what is known in the problem

Abstract

Problem-solving ability is a fundamental skill. Problem-solving is an effort to find a way out of a difficulty to achieve a goal to be achieved. There are 4 stages in solving problems as follows: understanding the problem, planning a solution, implementing the plan, and checking back. This research method uses a qualitative approach. The goal is to explain the ability of open-ended problem-solving mathematics students in terms of cognitive style type Field Independent and Field Dependent. Selection of the subject of this study using cognitive style test instrument Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT). The results of this study showed that the FI subject was able to answer correctly without any doubt and was able to answer the question independently while the FD subject was able to answer the question there was doubt but answered correctly and when answering the question asked the researcher.

Abstract

Problem solving is about finding a solution to a problem, so learning mathematics involves solving problems that relate to everyday life. The method of research used is qualitative descriptive research aimed at describing and explaining the methods of solving problems of Pythagoras's theorem students, as seen from the analysis of student's ability to solve mathematical problems. Information obtained from the work or written answers (tests) that have been completed. In this study, 30 students participated in the 2022/2023 academic year in the eighth grade of Delitua Private High School. The highest percentage value was 98.04% for the indicator of problem understanding, while the lowest percentage was 33.34% for the re-examination indicator. Overall, the average percentage score was 69.51%, which is high. This means that the ability of the students of the eighth grade of Delitua Private High School to solve mathematical problems using the material of Pythagoras's theorem is very competent. The students' responses to the statement in the mathematical problem-solving test were effective because all the statements were answered positively by ≥ 90% of students

Abstract

This research aims to describe the development process and quality of web-assisted E-LKPD in differentiated learning based on learning styles with a problem-based learning model to improve junior high school students' mathematical communication skills in terms of the validity of the E-LKPD, practicality, and effectiveness. This research was conducted in class VII of SMP Negeri 14 Jambi City. The method used in this research is Research and Development using the ADDIE model. Where the results of this research come from the percentage of material validation of 91% in the "very valid" category, the percentage of design validation of 88% in the "very valid" category, the percentage of practicality by teachers of 96% in the "very practical" category, the percentage of practicality by students of 89 % categorized as "very practical", the percentage of effectiveness by students was 91.25% categorized as "very effective" and the calculation of the gain value in improving students' mathematical communication skills was 76% categorized as "quite effective".

Abstract

Since mastery of problem-solving techniques is one of the main objectives of studying mathematics, such techniques are very important in the field of mathematical education. With the help of the Pythagorean theorem, the problem-solving skills of eighth-grade students will be assessed. SM Muhammadiyah 01 Field, Class VIII-1 Integrated Facilities, is the location of this research. This research uses qualitative research methodology. The instruments used in this study are four and ten-question model questionnaires labeled Highly Agree (SS), Agreed (S), and Disagreement (TS). This research resulted in high categories whose presentation scores reached 57 to 60 were obtained by 2 students, a medium category where its presentation ratings reached 35 to 46 was achieved by 21 students, and a low category where the presentation value reached 2 compared to 31 was achieved by 5 students.

Abstract

Research to obtain information regarding increasing understanding of the concept of place value using Cards Line Up media in elementary schools. Using quantitative methods and a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design, involving two classes, namely the experimental class at SDN 1 Weru Lor and the control class at SDN 3 Weru Lor with a total of 30 students in each class. Data was collected using concept understanding tests in the form of descriptions, with analysis using gain analysis. The research results showed that there was a significant increase in students' conceptual understanding after being given treatment, as shown in the posttest results which were higher than the pretest results. This is confirmed by the N-Gain statistical test that there is a positive influence of Cards Line Up media on students' understanding with an increase of 0.47 which is classified as a moderate increase. With this, it can be summarized that the Cards Line Up media has proven to be able to increase students' understanding of the concept of place value material in elementary schools.

Abstract

The mathematics learning process can be carried out by using and utilizing social phenomena, culture, and other aspects. In the past and currently, mathematics has developed in culture and society, even integrating culture with mathematics. Therefore, it is necessary to involve existing phenomena to overcome various existing problems, including mathematical problems. Therefore, it is necessary to teach mathematics in schools by depicting the context of the origin of mathematical ideas by utilizing culture so that it becomes meaningful learning for students, in this case called ethnomathematics. This short article tries to examine Ethnomathematics Design. In Statistical Analysis Content (Numeracy Literacy Development Study). The method used in this research is ethnography with a qualitative approach. The research results show that the development of ethnomathematics design can go through the definition stage to the initial development stage. From this development stage, an ethnomathematics design in statistical analysis content was produced. The design of ethnomathematics in statistical analysis content is a must-see for the philosophical value of ethnomathematics in its development.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using Powerpoint media on the ability of fourth-grade students of SDN 2 Singocandi to solve mathematical problems based on Polya's theory. Based on the results of tests and interviews, it appears that student's ability to solve mathematical problems is still lacking. This research uses quantitative methods with a survey research type. The population in this study were fourth-grade students of SDN 2 Singocandi. The sample taken in this study was all students totaling 20 students. The sampling technique was carried out using a saturated sampling technique which was. Data collection techniques included written tests, interviews, and documentation. This research design is pre-test and post-test. The analysis technique used is the paired sample t-test analysis technique. The results showed that the use of PowerPoint learning media affected the skills of solving mathematical problems on flat material, which was categorized as (1) Students in the high category who can solve problems understand, plan, implement, and check answers by Polya's steps. (2) Students in the medium category can understand the problem, make a solution plan, and implement the plan, but do not check the answer. (3) Students in the low category were unable to solve the problem according to the steps of Polya's theory.
