Abstract

An edge irregular total k-labeling of a simple graph  is a labeling that assigns positive integers to its vertices and edges such that the weight of every edge, defined as the sum of the labels of the edge and its two incident vertices, is distinct. The smallest integer  that allows such a labeling is called the total edge irregularity strength, denoted by  In this paper, we study the total edge irregularity strength of the corona product of a ladder graph and a null graph , denoted by  By applying constructive labeling and analyzing the resulting edge weights, we show that all edges can be assigned distinct weights. From Theorem 1, it is obtained that . This result contributes to the development of graph labeling theory and can be extended to larger ladder graphs for further applications, including cryptography and network security.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop and test the effectiveness of a Realistic Mathematics learning model based on Mandailing culture with a Deep - Learning approach in improving the logical thinking skills of high school students. This approach aims to build a deep and meaningful understanding of concepts through the integration of local cultural contexts that are close to students' lives. The methodology used is the development research method with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The analysis stage involves literature studies and field observations to identify students' needs and relevant Mandailing cultural potential. The design and development stage produces learning tools in the form of lesson plans, student worksheets, and learning media that have been validated by material experts and cultural experts. Implementation was carried out through a quasi-experiment in two classes (experimental and control) with a logical thinking test instrument as the main measuring tool. Evaluation was carried out formatively and summatively to determine the effectiveness of learning. The results showed that students who participated in Realistic Mathematics learning based on Mandailing culture with a Deep Learning approach experienced a significant increase in logical thinking skills compared to the control group. In addition, students showed enthusiasm and active involvement because the learning was linked to the culture they were familiar with. The conclusion of this study is that mathematics learning that integrates local culture with an immersive learning approach is effective in improving students' logical thinking skills. This model also strengthens cultural identity while developing higher-order thinking skills. Recommendations are directed to teachers, curriculum developers, and educational policymakers to consider a contextual learning approach based on local culture as a strategy to improve the quality of learning processes and outcomes, particularly in developing students' logical and cognitive thinking skills.

Abstract

The The ability to understand concepts is the ability to understand and account for an idea as well as the ability to think logically, critically, creatively and innovatively. The research objective of this study is to look at the profile of the ability to understand concepts through PjBL learning in terms of students' learning styles in understanding mathematical concepts in class VIII-A statistics material at MTs Al-Mahrus Mabar. The method used in the research is descriptive qualitative research. The research location is Jalan RPH LINK.IV Mabar Hilir Medan and the research time was carried out in the 2023/2024 academic year. The research subjects were 6 students from 22 students, where the researcher chose 2 students each with visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles based on the student learning style questionnaire that had been given. The researcher's data collection method used four techniques, namely observation, interviews, questionnaires and concept understanding ability tests. Data analysis is carried out by reducing data, presenting it, and drawing conclusions. The research results show that students with kinesthetic learning styles understand mathematical concepts better than students with visual and auditory learning styles. Students with a kinesthetic learning style are able to understand three of the four indicators of conceptual understanding, while students with a visual style, the same as students with an auditory learning style, are only able to understand two of the four indicators of conceptual understanding.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze junior high school students' conceptual understanding in solving problems on three-dimensional with flat surfaces based on the revised Bloom's Taxonomy. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method with 6 seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Glagah , selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments consisted of essay tests and semi-structured interview guidelines referring to the six cognitive levels of Bloom's Taxonomy (C1–C6) and validated by experts. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with methodological triangulation to ensure the validity of the findings. The results showed that 13% of students were in the high category, 73% in the medium category, and 13% in the low category. High-category students mastered all conceptual understanding indicators, while medium- and low-category students experienced difficulties at the analyzing (C4), evaluating (C5), and creating (C6) levels. These findings indicate the need for learning strategies that enhance higher-order thinking skills through contextual problem-solving, the use of visual media, and problem-based learning.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how contextualized combinatorics tasks set within a cinema-themed worksheet support undergraduate students’ transition from concrete enumeration strategies to formal combinatorial reasoning through a qualitative case study design. Participants engaged with four scaffolded tasks that first had them list seating arrangements for three friends and subsequently required them to explain the principles governing ordered versus unordered selections, while their written responses and verbal protocols were analyzed using thematic coding of representational approaches and justification quality. Findings reveal that embedding tasks in a familiar narrative and providing multimodal supports such as tables and color-coded diagrams helped students explicitly identify variables, assumptions, and logical steps, enabling them to construct factorial-based arguments without reliance on rote computation. Although all participants ultimately derived correct combinatorial solutions, the depth and clarity of their proofs varied in relation to individual verbal reasoning skills, and common misconceptions were effectively addressed when scenarios contrasted ordered and unordered cases. This single-paragraph abstract highlights that progressively reducing concrete scaffolds within real-world contexts enhances both engagement and conceptual understanding in discrete mathematics, suggesting that culturally relevant narratives and adaptive supports merit further investigation in larger-scale, mixed-methods studies.
