Abstract

 Language is a tool used to communicate, oral communication involves speakers and speech partners. A speaker is someone who speaks while a speaker is an interlocutor. In pragmatics, speech between speakers and speech partners is known as the term speech act. There are three types of speech acts, namely locution, collusion and collusion. The purpose of this study was to determine and describe illocutionary speech acts in a play entitled Malam Jahanam by students of Indonesian Language and Literature Education, University of Muhammadiyah Pringsewu. The study obtained eight data with details of seven assertive illocutionary speech acts and one commissive speech act.

Abstract

One of the oral literatures which is still used in Gorontalo custom event is Tuja'i Molo'opu. Oral literature is uttered at the ceremonial of official's reception in Gorontalo. As other traditions are changing, Tuja'i Molo'opu also along with the changes of the society. Therefore, it needs to be held as the Foundation for preservation of the study of oral literature Tuja'i Molo'opu. Thus, the ceremony Tuja'i Molo'opu this is not the complement of Molo'opu ceremony, but contain a moral, and ethical, and history of his supporters. The theory used in this research is the theory of orality Albert Bates Lord and Ruth Finnegan. To apply this theory is used Ethnographic aproach to explore data on composition and transmission, as the cultural aspects of the community of Gorontalo. Aspects of orality in this tuja'i Molo'opu covering composition. Composition is composing of oral literature, starting from: (1) the composition of the characters, (2) development techniques, (3) and repetition of the scene. In addition, transmission or starting inheritance from: (1) the transmission of natural processes, (2) a transmission process through training, (3) studing of acting, and (3) learning to talk.

Abstract

Novel adalah suatu bentuk sastra naratif yang panjang, biasanya ditulis dalam bentuk prosa. Ini adalah sebuah karya fiksi yang mencakup pengembangan karakter, alur cerita, dan tema yang kompleks. Berbeda dengan karya sastra pendek seperti cerpen, novel memberikan ruang yang lebih luas bagi pengembangan karakter dan plot.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang didasari karena kurang populernya analisis novel menggunakan metode analisis psikologi sastra. Dan hal ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan sumber novel yang berjudul “pulang” karya Leila S. Chudori. Novel "Pulang" adalah sebuah novel karya Leila S. Chudori yang pertama kali diterbitkan pada tahun 2012. Leila S. Chudori adalah seorang penulis dan wartawan asal Indonesia. Novel ini merupakan karya sastra yang menggambarkan periode sejarah Indonesia dari tahun 1965 hingga 1998, khususnya mengenai peristiwa G30S/PKI dan mengungkapkan para aktivis politik.Analisis psikologi sastra adalah pendekatan yang mencoba memahami karakter, motivasi, dan perasaan karakter dalam karya sastra menggunakan konsep dan teori psikologi. Analisis ini membuka jendela ke dalam aspek psikologis manusia melalui lensa karakter dan alur cerita dalam sebuah karya sastra.

Abstract

Dewasa ini, manusia seringkali merasa kurang dan tidak percaya diri dalam menjalani kehidupan. Sering merasa tertinggal dan sulit untuk menggapai sesuatu yang diinginkan. Setidaknya, individu seperti ini perlu mendapat pencerahan atau pegangan dalam mengarungi kehidupan yang berkualitas. Untuk mendapat pegangan tersebut, buku menjadi salah satu upaya dalam menemukan setiap jawaban yang dibutuhkan. Dua buku di atas dipilih penulis sebab mengupas banyak hal tentang self improvement. Self improvement adalah adalah segala bentuk usaha yang dilakukan secara sadar oleh seseorang dalam meningkatkan taraf hidup yang lebih baik dari sebelumnya. Penulis menggunakan metode deskripsi kualitatif untuk menjabarkan nilai-nilai pengembangan diri yang ada dalam kedua buku. Tinjauan ini dimaksudkan untuk menggambarkan kepada individu bahwa ada banyak hal sederhana yang dapat dilakukan agar lebih semangat dalam mengarungi kehidupan. Hasil penelitian ditemukan lima nilai self improvement, di antaranya, jadilah orang yang dapat bersikap lebih sabar, jadilah orang yang selalu percaya diri dan optimis, jadilah orang yang mampu bersikap realistis, sikap tidak mudah menyerah, serta sikap semangat belajar dan selalu berpikir positif.

Abstract

Paradigma pendidikan seni di era digital berkembang pesat, menghadirkan peluang dan tantangan baru bagi pendidik dan mahasiswa. Dengan memanfaatkan teknologi sambil melestarikan praktik seni tradisional, pendidik dapat menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang kaya dan dinamis yang membekali siswa dengan keterampilan dan pengetahuan yang dibutuhkan untuk berkembang di dunia yang semakin digital. Penting bagi para pemangku kepentingan dalam komunitas seni untuk beradaptasi dengan perubahan ini dan memanfaatkan potensi teknologi untuk meningkatkan ekspresi artistik dan kreativitas. Dalam menavigasi perubahan paradigma dalam pendidikan seni, penting untuk mencapai keseimbangan antara praktik seni tradisional dan alat digital inovatif. Dengan mengintegrasikan kedua pendekatan tersebut, pendidik dapat menciptakan lingkungan belajar dinamis yang menumbuhkan kreativitas, pemikiran kritis, dan kemahiran teknis.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendefinisikan dan menjelaskan hubungan antara karya sastra dan budaya. Tujuannya  untuk mengkaji kebermanfaatan novel Negri 5 Menara karya Ahmad Fuadi  sebagai karya sastra yang relevan secara budaya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memperjelas bagaimana pembaca memahami dan memaknai karya sastra yang dianalisis menggunakan antropologi sastra. Metode yang digunakan untuk menganalisis penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah kata dan frasa yang berkaitan dengan budaya pesantren yang muncul dalam novel Negri 5 Menara. Teknik pengolahan data yang digunakan dan dilakukan terdiri dari pembacaan cermat, identifikasi, klasifikasi, deskripsi, dan analisis terhadap data yang diteliti dalam konteks penelitian antropologi sastra. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara karya sastra  novel Negri 5 Menara karya Ahmad Fuadi dengan nilai-nilai budaya pesantren. Budaya pesantren yang dianalisis dalam novel  meliputi sistem pendidikan 24 jam, pendalaman ilmu agama Islam, asrama, ketaatan, kesalehan, kemandirian, dan kedisiplinan. Unsur-unsur budaya pesantren seperti kesederhanaan, toleransi, percaya diri, rendah hati, berani, bersatu, jujur, istikama, kebersamaan, dan kebersihan juga terdapat dalam novel berlatar belakang pesantren.

Abstract

The problems studied in this research are: (a) how is the Flores NTT language used by the People of Modo 1 village in Buol Regency? (b) What are the strategies for preserving the Flores NTT language for the people of Modo 1 village in Buol Regency? (c) what factors influence the maintenance of the Flores NTT language by the people of Modo 1 village in Buol Regency? This research aims to describe the use of the Flores NTT language by the people of Modo 1 village in Buol Regency in the domains of family, social, parties, organizations, bureaucracy, and school, to describe the factors influencing language preservation and the strategies for preserving the Flores NTT language by the people of Modo 1 village in Buol Regency. The theories used were Speaking (Hymes), factors influencing language maintenance (Downes), and strategies for language maintenance (Pateda).This research was conducted in Modo 1 village, BuolRegency. The method used was a descriptive qualitative method. The data were the Flores NTT language used by the people of Modo 1 village in Buol Regency. The data collection techniques included elicitation, participant observation, and structured and unstructured interviews. The data analysis techniques involved transcribing, translating, sorting, analyzing the data, concluding, and writing the research report.The research results revealed that the use of the Flores NTT language by the people of Modo 1 village in Buol Regency is predominantly in the domains of family and social interactions, whereas in the domains of parties, organizations, bureaucracy, and school, Indonesian is predominantly used. The factors influencing the preservation of the Flores NTT language by the people of Modo 1 village in Buol Regency included: family factors, social interaction factors, communication intensity factors, activity factors, education factors, and desire or aspiration factors. The strategies for preserving the Flores NTT language by the people of Modo 1 village in Buol Regency included: parents familiarizing and teaching the Flores NTT language to their children, the community using the Flores NTT language in daily communication, traditional leaders using the Flores NTT language in various traditional activities, the government supporting cultural activities that use regional languages, and integrating lessons related to regional languages into the local content curriculum in schools. Thus, it can be concluded that the Preservation of the Flores NTT Language by the People of Modo 1 Village in Buol Regency is still sustained despite being dominated by the Indonesian language.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the types of meaning found in the lyrics of Adele’s song from the album 21, based on the theory proposed by Geoffrey Leech. Employing a qualitative method, the study analyzed selected song lyric to uncover various types of meaning conveyed through Adale’s expressive and poetic language. The analysis focuses on Leech’s seven types of meaning: conceptual, connotative, social, affective, reflected, collocative, and thematic. The data were taken from six song in the album, with a total of 17 data points analyzed. The results show that conceptual meaning is the most frequently found, appearing in 7 data points, while collocative meaning appears the least, with only 2 data found. This indicated that context plays an important role in hos song lyrics are interpreted. Through this study, it is expected that readers can gain insight into how meaning in song lyrics can be analyzed from a linguistic, particularly semantic perspective.

Abstract

Most of previous research promotes Problem Based Learning to assist the students’  reading comprehension. It is need meta analysis research to review and to identify synthesise systematically on the effect of PBL towards the students’ reading comprehension. Therefore, the aim of this reseach is to  combine results quantitatively from various similar independent studies to increase statistical power, provide a more precise estimate of the effect size, and resolve controversies stemming from conflicting research findings. This research used meta analysis quantitative with dicotomy data. Indeed, This is virtual and dekstop research that gain the data from journal and proceeding in google scholar, proceeding and Repository by using  PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses)  It was obtain 18 articles that reported the effect of PBL towards the students’ reading comprehention. But only 4 articles were included study and 14 articles were excluded study because of some criterian of this research. Total of partisipants are 226. Then the four articles were analyzed with quantitatif analysis to gain Fixed and Random effect size on Odds Rasio, Risk Rasio and Risk Difference by using RevMan (Review Manager) aplication to get Cochrane Reviews Standard and data syntesis on Forest Flot and Funnel Plot. Effect Estimate on Odds Ratio (M-H, Fixed, 95% CI) = 3.65 [1.94, 6.85, Heterogeneity I2=0%, P=0,45. Effect Estimate on Odds Ratio (M-H, Random, 95% CI) = 3.57 [1.88, 6.79], Heterogeneity I2=0%, P=0,45. Effect Estimate on Risk Ratio (M-H, Fixed, 95% CI) = 1.53 [1.24, 1.88], Heterogeneity I2=65%, P=0,04. Effect Estimate on Risk Ratio (M-H, Random, 95% CI) = 1.51 [1.04, 2.19], Heterogeneity I2=65%, P=0,04. Effect Estimate on Risk Differenciate (M-H, Fixed, 95% CI) = 0.25 [0.14, 0.36], Heterogeneity I2=65%, P=0,04.. Effect Estimate on Risk Differenciate (M-HRandom, 95% CI) = 0.24 [0.13, 0.36], Heterogeneity I2=14%, P=0,32. Based on Forest and Funnel Plot, it shown Problem Based Learning has significant effect towards the students’ reading comprehension.

Abstract

This article explores the important role of the positivism and post-positivism paradigms in the development of research methods and approaches in the field of applied linguistics. Positivism emphasizes objective measurements, empirical data, and quantitative methods, such as word frequency analysis and language standard tests. In contrast, post-positivism, which developed as a reaction to positivism, recognized the limitations of absolute objectivity and introduced more flexible and contextual approaches, such as critical discourse analysis and ethnography in language learning. Through this study, the author shows that although these two paradigms are different, they can be combined to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of language phenomena. This collaboration allows researchers to explore the meaning of language in a broader socio-cultural context, while maintaining an objective aspect of measurement. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the development of a more holistic research methodology in applied linguistics.
