Abstract

This study aims to describe the learning process of Gorontalo traditional music, focusing on the basic techniques of the Polopalo instrument, and analyze its implications for the cognitive development of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Tilong Kabila. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that learning Polopalo not only introduced students to local wisdom and cultural preservation but also had positive impacts on cognitive aspects, particularly in improving concentration, motor coordination, memory, and problem-solving skills. Abstract

One of the oral literature which is still used in Gorontalo customary event is Tuja'i Molo'opu. Oral literature is uttered at the ceremonial of officials reception in Gorontalo. As other traditions are changing. Tuja'i Molo'opu also along with the changes of the society. Therefore it needs to be held as the Foundation for preservation of the study of oral literature Tuja'i Molo'opu. This study aims to examines the performance of Molo'opu ceremonies. The theory used in this research is the theory of orality Albert Bates Lord and Ruth Finnegan. To apply this theory used Ethnographic aproaches. The ethnographic approach is used to explore data on performance as the cultural aspects of the community of Gorontalo. Data collected by documentation, recording, interview and observation. The results of this research show that aspects of orality in this tuja'i Molo'opu covering performance, which has several elements, namely: 1) ceremonial places and situations, 2) performers, 3) audiences and partisans (people involved in the ceremony), 4) media (facilities and infrastructure used both verbally and material), 5) customary attributes (which includes all the tools used in the traditional ceremony), 6) variations caused by the audience or other elements.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the digital game Free Fire on children’s socialization skills. Online games such as Free Fire are increasingly popular among children and adolescents; however, their impact on social aspects remains debatable. The research method employed was quantitative with a survey approach involving 100 elementary and junior high school students who actively play Free Fire. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews, then analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis and simple regression. The results indicate a significant influence between the intensity of playing Free Fire and children’s socialization skills. The higher the frequency of playing, the lower the level of face-to-face social interaction among children. Nevertheless, it was also found that in certain contexts, this game can serve as a medium for children to form online communities and friendships. This study concludes that Free Fire exerts a dual influence on children’s socialization skills, depending on the duration of play and the context of use. It is recommended that parents and educators guide children in managing their playtime to prevent disruption of their social development

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Anies Baswedan's rhetorical style in addressing educational issues during the 2024 presidential candidate debates and to compare it with other candidates. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with an Aristotelian rhetorical approach, focusing on the elements of ethos, pathos, and logos in Anies Baswedan's speeches. Data is collected through literature review, examining relevant journals, books, articles, other written sources related to the research topic. The findings indicate that Anies Baswedan utilizes a formal rhetorical style, emphasizing clear vision and mission statements, and builds credibility through his experience and knowledge in the field of education. However, his formal and academic communication style is sometimes perceived as less relatable by some audiences. In comparison, other candidates like Prabowo Subianto and Ganjar Pranowo exhibit distinct rhetorical styles. Prabowo is known for his relaxed and approachable speaking style, using simple and easily understandable language for the general public. Meanwhile, Ganjar Pranowo adopts a more populist approach, incorporating humor and anecdotes in his speeches. The combination of strengths and weaknesses in Anies Baswedan's rhetoric influences public perception of his commitment to education. His credibility and experience instill confidence in his potential to bring positive change. However, the lack of detailed explanations regarding program implementation may raise doubts about the effectiveness of the proposed plans. It is crucial for Anies to balance the delivery of vision and mission with concrete action plans to convince the public of his seriousness in improving the education sector, Anies Baswedan's rhetorical style in addressing educational issues has strengths in terms of credibility.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe Prabowo Subinato’s rhetoric in his 2024-2029 Presidential inauguration speech. The theory used to analyze is based on Aristotle’s Rhetoric theory which includes ethos, logos, and pathos. The method used in this research is qualitative description, by describing sentences that indicate the presence of ethos, logos, and pathos in Prabowo Subianto’s speech. The data source is a video of Prabowo Subianto’s presidential speech accessed through YouTube. The results showed that Prabowo Subianto’s speech reflected the application of Aristotle’s rhetorical theory through three main elements: ethos, logos, and pathos. In the ethos aspect, he emphasized the importance of integrity, morality, and leadership commitment to realize a clean and democratic government, reflecting the credibility and good character of the speaker. In terms of logos, Prabowo delivered rational arguments that invited the audience to think critically about the responsibility of leaders and the importance of collective efforts to overcome major problems such as poverty, showing rationality and structured logic. The pathos aspect is seen in the way he evokes the audience’s emotions, such as pride in Indonesia’s democracy and courage to face challenges, delivered through passionate and motivational words. By combining these three elements in a balanced way, Prabowo managed to establish credibility, provide strong arguments, and create a deep emotional connection with the audience, making his speech effective and inspiring.

Abstract

Affixation is one of the processes of attaching morphemes to a base form. This study aims to (1) describe the types of affixes in the Dondo language, Tialo dialect, in Moutong Subdistrict, Parigi Moutong Regency, and (2) explain the affixation process in the Dondo language, Tialo dialect, in the same region. This study used a qualititative descriptive method in Moutong Subdistrict, Parigi Moutong Regency. The data sources were informants from Lobu Village and Tuladenggi Pantai Village in Moutong Subdistrict, referring to 200 Swadesh vocabulary items. Data collection techniques included interviews, observation, elicititation (conservation), and recording. The results of this study indicate that (1) the types of affixes found in the Dondo language, Tialo dialect, include 17 prefixes (mo-, mon-, mom-, moku-, mong-, me-, meg-, men-, mem-, mengk-, no-, o-, po-, pom-, pon-, pe’- and pem-,) there infixes(-k-, -an-, and –o-), seven suffixes (-onyo, -a’a, -ane, -one, -ma’a, -mo, and -tutu), and one circumfix (no-mo). (2) The process of affixation whether through prefixation, infixation, suffixation, or circumfixation, results in thr formation of new words in the Dondo language, Tialo dialect. In conclusion, affixation in the Dondo language, Tialo dialect, leads to morphological changes in base words, resulting in derived words. This transformation is evident in the collected data, where the initial 200 Swadesh vocabulary items were reduced to 111 derived words.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the application of the Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) technique can improve students' reading skills in narrative texts. The study sampled 30 students from class IX-4 of SMPN 4 Gorontalo. To collect data, a multiple-choice test was used adapted from various fairy tale stories, including "Why Frogs and Mosquitoes are Enemies," "Unhelpful Friends," "The Hungry Mouse," "The Lion and the Mouse," "A Proud Tiger," and "A Cat and a Fox." The study employed a pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test. Results show that the mean score of the pre-test was 14.47, while the mean score of the post-test was 19.4. The hypothesis testing revealed that tcount ≥ tlist with a value of 18.84 2.048, indicating that the research hypothesis (H1) is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) technique can improve the reading skills of class IX-4 students at SMP N 4 Gorontalo.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai personal dan nilai pendidikan dalam legenda Kampung Payol oleh Samsuni. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik studi pustaka, teknik baca dan teknik catat. Data yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini adalah kutipan-kutipan yang menggambarkan nilai personal dan nilai pendidikan dalam legenda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai personal dan nilai pendidikan yang terdapat dalam legenda dapat menghasilkan pribadi yang mampu bekerjasama, empati, dapat berpikir kritis, kemampuan berimajinasi, kepercayaan adanya Tuhan, memiliki nilai hedonik, nilai artistik, nilai kultural, nilai etis dan nilai praktis.

Abstract

SMP Negeri 2 Wanggarasi merupakan salah satu sekolah yang terpilih sebagai satuan pendidikan penyelenggara program sekolah penggerak angkatan kedua yang mengimplementasikan kurikulum merdeka. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan memahami pengimplementasian kurikulum merdeka di SMP Negeri 2 Wanggarasi sebagai Sekolah Penggerak. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif melalui pendekatan fenomenologi.Subjek dalam penelitian ini kepala sekolah, guru dan tenaga kependidikan, siswa dan komite SMP Negeri 2 Wanggarasi. Fokus penelitian ini yakni apa yang dialami oleh subjek dan bagaimana memahami pengalamannya tersebut. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara yang mendalam terhadap subjek penelitian, observasi partisipan, dan penelusuran dokumen. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan menerapkan prosedur melalui pendekatan fenomenologi. Hasil penelitian yang yaitu pengimplementasian kurikulum merdeka di SMP Negeri 2 Wanggarasi sebagai sekolah penggerak diperoleh gambaran nyata tentang: 1. Alasan yang melatarbelakangi penerapan kurikulum merdeka; 2. Bentuk penerapan kurikulum merdeka; 3. Desain kurikulum merdeka di sekolah; 4. Kegiatan yang terlaksana terkait pengimplementasian kurikulum merdeka; 5. Keterlibatan guru dan tenaga kependidikan; 6. Respon dan bentuk keaktifan siswa; 7. Potensi yang dimiliki terkait pengimplementasian kurikulum merdeka; 8. Tantangan yang dihadapi; 9. Keterlibatan orangtua, komite sekolah, pengawas sekolah dan dinas pendidikan; 10.  Manfaat dan perubahan nyata setelah pengimplementasian kurikulum merdeka.

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah "Analisis Makna dan Gaya Bahasa dalam Puisi Aku Ingin Karya Sapardi Djoko Damono”. Tujuan penelitian adalah menganalisis makna dan gaya bahasa yang terkandung dalam puisi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif. Penelitian terhadap puisi “Aku Ingin” menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Kesimpulan dari penelitian puisi "Aku Ingin" menggunakan gaya bahasa atau majas personifikasi. Majas personifikasi adalah gaya metafora khusus karena mengacu pada benda mati seolah-olah berbicara, atau bertindak bagaikan manusia. Dan makna yang terkandung adalah bahwa seseorang mencintai kekasihnya dan membuktikan cintanya bukan dengan kata-kata, melainkan dengan pengorbanan. Karena cinta diukur dengan pengorbanan, bukan dengan kata-kata. Perasaan cinta tentunya milik mereka yang terus berdiri di samping kita dan mendukung kita. Puisi Sapardi Djoko Damono "Aku Ingin" ditulis pada tahun 1989 dengan tema cinta. Cinta sang penulis begitu sederhana, kata-katanya begitu sederhana, namun menciptakan karya seni yang begitu bermakna.
