Abstract

This service is motivated by the problems faced by family planning teachers at Cluster 7 Kindergarten, Kasihan Bantul District, Yogyakarta regarding: 1). Teachers still lack understanding of the implementation of a scientific approach in learning in schools. 2). Teachers in implementing scientific learning such as observing, asking, collecting, associating and communicating information in class activities are still confused/don't understand the whole thing. This service aims to provide training and assistance in the application of scientific learning and environmental management to facilitate independent learning for early childhood. The method in this research uses: lectures, questions and answers, and supervisory actions carried out over 2 cycles. There are four stages in service activities and each cycle consists of: planning, implementation, observation and evaluation (reflection). The results of the training implementation show that PAUD teachers at KB TK Gugus 7, Kasihan Bantul District, Yogyakarta, have improved in implementing scientific learning and environmental arrangements to facilitate independent learning for early childhood children after participating in training and mentoring activities.

Abstract

The purpose of this service activity is to provide assistance to the community, especially the Tagulandang village community who experienced the mountain eruption disaster with the inte-gration of creative activities in the Japanese art of Ikebana. Ikébana (生花) is the art of flower arrangement that utilizes various types of flowers, grasses and plants with the aim of enjoying their beauty. The results of this service activity have a good impact on the community, especially for (1) restoring their mental health, the art of Ikebana is not just arranging flowers but this art is able to relax and refresh the brain and balance the needs of the body. (2) Fostering resilience and spirit so that they feel that their burden is lessened and they can continue their lives with re-newed vigor.

Abstract

Mount Ruang, located in Sitaro district, North Sulawesi, erupted again on March 30, 2024. The impact of disasters is not only physical, so social-psychological aspects are now beginning to receive attention in overall disaster management. Volcanic eruptions produce harmful effects on the environment, climate, and health of exposed people, and are associated with a decline in social and economic conditions. The objectives of this service activity are to provide assistance to the community in the form of play activities as a trauma healing method for children after the eruption of Mount Ruang in Sitaro Regency, and how this approach can be effectively implemented in the context of local communities. Through this activity, children can express their feelings, rebuild their confidence, and reduce the anxiety they experience. In addition, support from parents and the community is needed to create a safe and supportive environment for children's recovery. By understanding the psychological impact of disasters and involving all parties in the recovery process, we can help children to not only recover from trauma, but also grow into stronger and more resilient individuals. Therefore, it is important to continue developing trauma healing programs that involve play activities and active participation from parents and communities.

Abstract

The aim of Community Service (PKM) carried out by the PKM Team is to provide entrepreneurship training through business creativity from beads to students. This activity is in collaboration with Rizqun Minallah (RizMina), which is a community empowerment community in the field of skills and crafts. The training participants were 67 students. The training begins with a presentation of material on entrepreneurship, bead weaving, practice and product marketing. Results achieved: overall this activity obtained good and satisfying results. The training participants looked enthusiastic to see their work in various forms, this was because the PKM Team gave the participants freedom, to adapt them to their individual tastes and creativity. Products produced: bracelets, key chains, necklaces, prayer beads, brooches etc. It is hoped that the results of skills training activities will inspire participants to become entrepreneurs and successfully market them.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era has transformed social media from a communication tool into a strategic medium for cultural promotion. However, many youths still use social media passively without understanding its potential to strengthen local culture and tourism. This issue became the basis for implementing a community service program at SMP Negeri 44 Bandar Lampung, aiming to improve students’ digital literacy and skills in using social media as a platform for promoting local culture through digital branding training. The activity applied a participatory training method through workshops, group discussions, and mentoring. The results showed that students’ abilities in creating creative content such as videos, posters, and cultural narratives increased significantly. These works were published on the school’s social media account as part of local culture promotion efforts. This program successfully fostered cultural awareness and creativity among students, serving as a model for youth empowerment through digital-based cultural preservation.

Abstract

The rapid growth of social media in the digital era has created both opportunities and challenges for Generation Z, particularly regarding mental health and religious literacy. As active digital users, youth are vulnerable to identity crises, social pressure, and exposure to unverified religious content. This community service program aimed to strengthen religious literacy and promote creative da’wah skills among youth to foster positive engagement in digital spaces. The activity employed a participatory-based learning approach consisting of educational webinars, creative da’wah workshops, digital religious literacy training, mentoring, and content publication. The program involved 35 youth participants from school-based Islamic communities in Lampung. The results showed an improvement in participants’ understanding of digital religious literacy, creative content-making skills, and awareness of mental health through spiritual perspectives. The program also succeeded in forming a sustainable digital da’wah youth community and producing a replicable training module. These findings indicate that creative da’wah training effectively empowers Gen Z to become digital change agents capable of promoting healthy, religious, and inspiring social media ecosystems.

Abstract

The implementation of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a crucial strategy for higher education institutions to enhance educational accessibility for practitioners and experienced individuals. This community service activity was initiated by the Quality Assurance Instritute (LPM) of Universitas Cokroaminoto of Yogyakarta (UCY) with the aim of socializing RPL policies and strenghthening the institution’s internal governance. The methods employed included Focus Group Discussions (FGD), workshops for developing assessment instruments and cross-unit coordination involving faculty leaders, study programs, and the stude affairs/admission department. The results indicate a significant increase in leadership understanding regarding the urgency of RPL. Furthermore, the activity successfully established an efficient registration workflow between admission department and study programs, as well as formulated objective portofolio assessment instruments aligned with quality standards. The resulting sustainability strategies include the digitalization of recognition documents and the strengthening of assessor legality through Rector’s Decress. The conclusion of this activity is UCY’s systemic readiness to implement an accountable and quality-orientes RPL pathway.

Abstract

This community service initiative was motivated by the high frequency of gadget use among vocational high school students, which has led to a decline in study discipline, self-control, academic responsibility, and digital ethics. This issue is not only related to technology but also concerns the character development of students in the digital age. The focus of this service activity is to guide students in managing their gadget use through a digital self-management approach at SMK Sasmita Jaya 2 Pamulang. The objectives of this activity are to enhance students’ understanding of healthy gadget use, foster more productive gadget usage habits, and strengthen students’ discipline and sense of responsibility. The methods used include participatory and educational approaches, as well as guidance through four stages: initial assessment, digital literacy education, digital self-management practice, and monitoring and reflection on behavioral changes. Data was collected through observation, simple questionnaires, reflection journals, and group discussions, and was then analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods. The results of the program indicate positive initial behavioral changes, marked by increased student awareness regarding the need to limit gadget use, reduced use for non-academic activities, improved focus on learning, and a growing sense of responsibility in completing assignments. Additionally, students began to demonstrate better digital communication etiquette and initial ability to manage technological distractions. Thus, this PKM activity is effective in building a foundation of positive digital character among vocational high school students through systematic and sustained mentoring.

Abstract

This community service program was motivated by the low level of students’ time management skills in balancing academic and extracurricular activities, particularly in Islamic boarding school environments characterized by structured schedules and limited access to digital technology. The focus of this program was digital-based time management assistance adapted to the contextual conditions of the pesantren. The objective of this activity was to improve students’ understanding and skills in managing time effectively and systematically. The method employed a participatory approach with educational and contextual strategies, including lectures, discussions, reflections, manual simulations, and demonstrations. The program was implemented through three main stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using a descriptive qualitative approach. The results indicate that students experienced an improvement in their understanding of time management concepts, demonstrated the ability to create more structured daily schedules, and developed greater awareness in setting activity priorities. In addition, students gained conceptual knowledge of how digital tools can support time management, despite not directly using digital devices. Therefore, this program contributes to fostering students’ self-regulated learning, discipline, and ability to balance academic and extracurricular activities in the pesantren environment.

Abstract

Rapid digital transformation has brought significant changes to the way people communicate. Over the past two decades, this transformation has drastically altered communication patterns, with social media becoming the primary medium for sharing information, building social interactions, and expressing opinions publicly (Afif et al., 2024). Platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok enable communication across geographical and cultural boundaries, creating a fast, open, and massive communication space (Mujahiddin & Harahap, 2017). Based on this context, a Community Service Program (PKM) was conducted at Pondok Pesantren Al-Kaffah under the theme “Digital Footprint Matters: Communication Education for a Technology-Literate Generation among Junior High School Students at Pondok Pesantren Al-Kaffah.” The purpose of this program is to train students’ critical thinking skills in addressing and solving digital-related issues among adolescents. The method used in this socialization activity is participatory, educative, and applicative. Through this approach, students are not only expected to understand the material theoretically but also to apply it in their daily lives. Through active collaboration between university students, teachers, boarding school mentors, and students, this program is expected to provide not only short-term benefits in the form of improved digital literacy but also to foster a sustainable positive digital culture within the Pondok Pesantren Al-Kaffah environment.
