Abstract

The village of Pasaka is located in the Sabbangparu subdistrict of the Wajo District. The community's average level of knowledge regarding the law remains relatively low, particularly among parents and adults in relation to child protection legislation. Indeed, there are some who are entirely uninformed on this matter. The enactment of Law No. 35/2014 on child protection represents a significant amendment to the preceding legislation, namely Law No. 23/2002. The objective of this new legislation is to reinforce the legal protection of children's rights within the Indonesian legal framework. The revised legislation introduces enhanced penalties for those convicted of crimes against children, while also reaffirming the pivotal roles of parents, the government and civil society in safeguarding the rights of the child. The law places an emphasis on the fulfilment of children's fundamental rights, including the right to life, development and participation. It is anticipated that this will result in the creation of a secure and favourable environment for children. By providing guidance on child protection legislation, the community will be better equipped to enhance their awareness, foster greater openness and sensitivity, and take action in instances of child abuse.

Abstract

Early marriage represents a significant challenge in the village of Pammana, with elevated rates of early marriage frequently attributed to social and economic pressures, coupled with a dearth of comprehension regarding the adverse consequences of early marriage. This article examines the efficacy of an educational approach that emphasises the importance of reproductive health and understanding of related legislation in preventing early marriage. The socialisation activities conducted at MTS Satap Nurul Ulum Pammana employed discussion and question-and-answer methods that facilitated active student participation in understanding the risks associated with early marriage and the importance of pursuing continued education. The results of the socialisation demonstrated an enhanced awareness among the students regarding the consequences of early marriage, as well as a heightened motivation to pursue higher education. It is imperative that continued education and strict law enforcement be implemented in order to reduce the number of early marriages in the future.

Abstract

The incidence of early marriages in Mallusesalo Village is rising year on year. This issue has a significant impact on the quality of children, families, family harmony, and divorce. The prevalence of early marriages in the Wajo District has increased markedly in recent years. In 2023, the rate for males was 3.16%, while for females it was 3.45%. These figures represent a significant rise from the 1,041 recorded events in the preceding year. The underlying cause is also attributable to local cultural factors, which are shaped by the social system and the tradition of early marriage that is perpetuated within families. The consequences of early marriage include children dropping out of school, the loss of their reproductive rights due to early pregnancy and childbirth, and an increased risk of low birth weight (LBW), which can lead to stunting. Despite the enactment of Law No. 16 of 2019, which establishes the minimum age for marriage at 19 years for both men and women, early marriage remains prevalent. It is therefore important to facilitate socialisation with the aim of increasing public awareness of the impact of early marriage. This will help to reduce the increasing divorce rate, problematic female reproductive health, the number of stunted children caused by teenage mothers and domestic violence.

Abstract

The issue of disputed land, in which the question of ownership is contested, is a significant challenge in Indonesia. This is also frequently the case in Sompe Village, Wajo Regency, regardless of whether the matter has been settled through arbitration, mediation, or court proceedings. Nevertheless, numerous instances of ongoing disputes persist within the community. Such issues may be caused by a number of factors, including a lack of clarity surrounding the certification process, deficiencies in administrative procedures, inconsistencies in land boundaries, the dissemination of misinformation or incomplete data, regional expansion, a disproportionate demand for land relative to its availability, and conflicts of interest. In response to this situation, the local government of Wajo Regency has initiated the Boundary Marking Movement (Gemapatas), a programme of the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning of the Indonesian National Land Agency. This initiative aims to reinforce the legal basis for land ownership. In order to assist the government in reducing the number of disputes within the community, it is necessary to provide legal counsel on agrarian issues. This will increase understanding and provide the community with a greater understanding of land law, particularly in Sompe Village.

Abstract

The issue of traffic safety represents a significant concern in a number of contexts, including among students. The objective of the traffic order socialisation programme is to enhance the awareness and knowledge of junior high school students in Lagosi regarding the significance of orderly behaviour on the road. The socialisation programme comprised a series of activities, including the presentation of materials on traffic signs, basic traffic rules, and the adverse consequences of violating traffic regulations. Furthermore, simulations and interactive discussions were conducted with the objective of reinforcing students' comprehension of the scenarios they frequently encounter on a daily basis while traversing the roadways. It is anticipated that this pedagogical strategy will facilitate not only an understanding of traffic regulations, but also their practical application in the students' daily lives, whether as pedestrians, cyclists, or passengers. The results of this activity demonstrated a notable enhancement in students' comprehension of the significance of road safety, accompanied by a more favourable shift in attitude towards the practice of orderly traffic conduct. It is therefore anticipated that this socialisation programme will serve as an initial step in the moulding of a younger generation that is more disciplined and aware of traffic safety.

Abstract

The occurrence of land disputes can be attributed to the fact that land occupies a pivotal position in this regard, whereby it can serve to demonstrate the independence and sovereignty of its owner. It is not always necessary to resolve disputes through the judicial process. At the present time, a new form of dispute resolution has emerged, namely Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). One such method is mediation, whereby the mediator does not take a partisan stance on the issues under discussion. Mediation encourages the open communication of problems and interests between the parties involved. It is therefore necessary to socialise the resolution of land disputes in Patila Village through both litigation and non-litigation. This should encourage the parties to realise that disputes are not fights that must be won but resolved. The aim is to help the parties reach common ground and to facilitate the procedures for resolving land disputes through mediation. This will involve a complaint by the parties to the dispute to the Land Office and a process of reviewing, final negotiation and an agreement set out in a written agreement. However, if the parties are unable to reach an agreement, they have the right to submit the dispute to the court.
