Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of quality service of Oceanic Fishing Port on fishing operational fluency. Data were collected using questionnaires based on Likert scale 1-3 and direct observation. The data was collected by assessing the fishermen on quality service of UPTD, either through questionnaire and observation. The data were analyzed using Chi-Square test to examine the correlation of two nominal variables and how far the correlation between two variables of quality service for fishing operational fluency. The result showed that the p-value for the reliability variable was 0.036 0.05 at the level of α 5%, it means that the reliability variable gave the significant effect to the fishing operation. Four indicators of the reliability variables (supply of subsidized fuel for fishing in the fishing port, the optimization of services provided by the UPTD to fishermen, the supply of ice in the fishing port, and supply of water for the fishing operational in the fishing port) showed the satisfaction of respondent was at low level. While the results the variable responsiveness test indicated that these variables have no significant effect on the fishing operational fluency. It was shown from the result of the p-value of 0.609 0.05 at the level of α 5%, with the average of satisfaction indicators was at the middle category.

Abstract

Aquatic Tourism Park (ATP) of the Southeast Sulawesi Province has significant contribution to achieve the total targeted of 30 million of Marine Protected Areas (MPA) in Indonesia. The conservation area is located in 3 coastal districts of Konawe, South Konawe, and Kendari City Districts. The time-consuming process of legalizing the conservation area has driven the need to re-evaluate the ecological conditions from 2012 to 2020. The objective of this study is to this aims to determine the status, gaps and ecological feasibility of conservation areas in the Southeast Sulawesi region. One of the noticeable gaps is the change of ecological conditions in the reservation area. The gap could be identified by comparing ecological conditions before and after the area was reserved for a conservation area. Ecosystem suitability was measured by using ecological criteria, such as number of protected fish species, mangrove density, seagrass coverage, coral coverage, and naturalness. The score of suitability assessment was 31, which showed that the reserved location was suitable for a Marine Conservation Area. However, gap analysis results showed 10% decline in coral coverage and 17% decrease in seagrass coverage, while mangrove density decreased as much as 102 trees/ha during that period. Evaluation on the ecosystem condition was conducted by applying suitability analysis of the modified E-KKP3K dan Sambah et al. (2020) methods, resulting a status of suitable or conservation area allocation (score 31). Criteria used were chosen based on its contribution in facilitating important ecological processes and as ecosystem buffer system in the area. This study will give the implementation on MPA management optimalisation and it can be contributed on fisheries management. Keywords:Conservation areaFeasibility areaGapSoutheast Sulawesi

Abstract

Biotechnology is used to apply technology to the C/N ratio by stimulating the activities of heterotrophic microorganisms, which derive food from carbon and nitrogen substrates in a certain ratio. The goal of this research was to see how the optimal carbon-nitrogen ratio affected water quality and floc volume in white leg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) farming. This study took place in the UPT Integrated Laboratory Unkhair in Ternate City in July and August 2021. A fully randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications was used in this investigation. Different C/N ratios had an effect on ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, floc volume, and feed conversion ratio, according to the research. The water quality parameters are still suitable for white leg shrimp cultivation. In white leg shrimp culture, the addition of C-organic molasses (different C/N ratios) was able to reduce the concentrations of (NH3), (NO2), and (NO3), and also greatly increase the flock volume and streamline the feed conversion ratio.Keywords:C/N RatioVannameiWastewaterBiofloc

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystem is one of the unique ecosystems that has high productivity and it grows along the coast of Aceh Province, Indonesia. The mangrove vegetation in Aceh Tamiang District was decreasing due to human exploitation i.e. stems of mangrove vegetation utilized by local communities become charcoal and firewood. These activities have a negative impact on live and growth of mangrove vegetation. Therefore, the purposes of the study are to analyses the important value index (IVI), mangrove species diversity, and to analyses the correlation between substrate characteristics with mangrove density. The research stations determined using the purposive sampling method and each station has three plots as replication. There were 4 research stations located in Seruway, Bandahara, Banda Mulia, and Manyak Paye sub districts. The study reported 12 species of mangrove in the trees category, 9 species of saplings, and 8 species of seedlings. The 12 species of mangroves found were Avicennia lanata, A. marina, A. officinalis, Brugeira parviflora, B. sexangula, Ceriops decandra, C. tegal, Lumnitzera recomosa, Nypa fruticans, Rhizopora apiculata, R. stylosa, and Sonneratia alba. The R. apiculata was species commonly found in each sampling location and it had highest IVI for the tree, sapling and seedling categories with the value of 207.24, 300, and 200, respectively. The average of diversity index was 1.56 categorized in the medium category. Abstract

The scad (Decapterus sp.) is one species commonly caught using purse seine and landed at the Pusong Fish Landing Base, Lhokseumawe, Aceh. The fishermen at this site do not have accurate knowledge about the fishing season of the scad, which leads them to miss out on peak fish catching season and increases the ambiguity about the fish landing data. The goal of this research is to compute the trend of Catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE) for scad fisheries over the last five years (2013-2017) and to examine the fishing season trends of scad landed at Pusong fish landing base. This study took place at the Pusong Fish Landing Base in August 2020. The moving average approach was used to process catch data from 2013 to 2017. Primary and secondary data about scad production and number of fishing trips were used to compile the research findings. The results showed that the CPUE for purse seine catch landed at Pusong Fish Landing Base varies from year to year. The highest CPUE value was recorded in 2015 with 442,534 kg/trip, and the lowest was in 2013 with a value of 27,674 kg/trip. The fishing season index for Scad (Decapterus sp.) has a high rating, indicating that this fish species can be caught all year. Based on the fishing season identification criteria, the fishing season index value greater than 100% indicates the peak season. Results from this research indicate that the peak season for scad landed at Pusong Fish Landing Base occurs in July, August, September, October, and November, with their index values of 151%, 146%, 119%, 122%, and 126% respectively. A fishing season index score of less than 100% indicates low season, this was recorded for January, February, March, April, May, June, and December (48%, 97%, 57%, 90%, 62%, 86% and 97%).Keywords:ScadFishing Season IndexCPUE

Abstract

Addition of microalgae in the biofloc system may improve growth and survival of Nile tilapia. Also, culturing Nile tilapia in saline water biofloc system may be an adaptation for freshwater shortage. In this study, the growth and survival of Nile tilapia cultured in a low salinity biofloc system with added microalgae was investigated. Increasing salinity in the culture system was done by gradually adding sea water into acclimatization container (618 L, v) on weekly basis for 4 weeks until 9 psu salinity was reached. Tilapia were allowed to adapt to salinity change for one week and fed with commercial feed twice a day until satiation. The biofloc experiment was conducted with 3 microalgal density treatments (5, 15 and 25 104 cells. mL-1) in triplicates. Average initial weight of experimental fish was 4.82 0.76 g. Tilapia were reared for 40 days in aquaria (35 35 40 cm, l w h, 15 L, v) containing 8 individuals fish in each aquarium. The commercial pellets were delivered twice per day at 5% of tilapia biomass until satiation. T. chui was added to the tilapia culture every week. This study showed that the addition of microalgae did not affect the fish weight gain, specific growth rate and survival (p0.05). However, feed conversion ratio and culture productivity were better in tilapia supplied with weekly addition of T. chui at 15 104 cells mL-1 compared to other densities tested. Keywords:SalineBioflocMicroalgae

Abstract

Women's forest in the local language called Tonotwiyat is a private space for women. Women's forests are not only limited to controlling disasters and neutralizing air pollution but are like mothers who provide life for local communities. This article is a literature study by conducting text and discourse analysis on socio-cultural events whose subjects are library materials. The results of this study indicate that the construction of the rowing venue has contributed to the damage to the women's forest ecosystem in Jayapura City. The tradition of protecting women's forests as a source of local food and as a place for character education for women is now starting to be eroded as a result of environmental pollution and land conversion. Rehabilitation is carried out as an effort by the government to preserve the damage to the mangrove ecosystem that has been affected by development. As a recommendation In addition to carrying out rehabilitation and revegetation, in the future it is necessary to expand by planting mangrove seedlings by colonizing new areas or extensification. Including the importance of regulations governing the protection and management of women's forests based on local wisdom adopted by the local community. Keywords:Women's forestMangrovesDevelopmentRowing venue

Abstract

Mangrove forests in Aceh are significant because of their roles in ecological, socio-economic, and socio-cultural aspects. Mangrove restoration efforts must be based on adequate land assessment and regular evaluation of the viability of planted mangroves. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the bio-ecological characteristics of mangrove planting locations and evaluate land suitability in the restoration areas in Aceh Besar (Layeun Village) and Aceh Jaya (Babah Ie, Ujong Sudeun and Keude Unga Villages). This study was conducted in the YAGASU restoration area in Aceh Besar and Aceh Jaya Regencies in September 2022. The primary data consisted of the physicochemical characteristics of the environment, biodiversity, land suitability index, and plant survival rates after 3- 6 months planted. Data were analyzed using correlation, principal component analysis (PCA), cluster analysis (CA), descriptive statistics, and land suitability index. The result showed that the physical-chemical parameters of the environment are suitable for supporting the growth of mangroves and the livelihoods of various communities. In the study areas, the communities include 8 mangroves, 15 fish, 19 benthic, 11 zooplankton, and 22 phytoplankton species. Layeun, Ujong Sudeun, and Keude Unga Villages were found to have better land suitability than Babah Ie Village. However, an evaluation of the results of planting monitoring showed that Layeun has the highest survival rate compared to the other three villages. The results showed that pests, including buffalo and crustaceans, as well as sea waves, and the duration of the tides inundating the water are the main factors causing mangrove mortality. Keywords:Mangrove restorationSuitabilityBio-ecological
