Abstract

The study is based on the growing need for educational practices that not only develop twenty-first-century competencies but also preserve cultural values and local identities. This study aims to examine the integration of the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) approach and local wisdom in early childhood education through a library research method. This study employed a library research method with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected from various scholarly sources, including journal articles, books, conference proceedings, and policy documents related to STEAM education, local wisdom, and early childhood learning. The collected literature was analyzed using content analysis to identify key concepts, implementation strategies, benefits, and challenges associated with the integration of STEAM and local wisdom. The findings of this study indicate that STEAM learning fosters critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills through interdisciplinary activities and experiences. Meanwhile, local wisdom provides meaningful cultural contexts that strengthen children’s cultural identity, environmental awareness, and appreciation of community values. The integration of STEAM and local wisdom creates culturally responsive learning experiences that support holistic child development while fostering both global competencies and local cultural preservation. Therefore, this integrated approach can serve as an innovative and sustainable educational model for enhancing the quality of early childhood education in diverse cultural settings.

Abstract

Learning planning is a strategic foundation in the educational process because it allows teachers to organize objectives, materials, methods, media, and evaluation in a targeted manner. This article aims to reconstruct Arabic language learning planning through a synthesis of the systems approach and the humanistic approach. This study uses library research methods with a conceptual approach and descriptive-critical analysis. The results of the study indicate that the systems approach remains important as a structural foundation for Arabic language learning planning, but has limitations when used alone because it tends to be technical and administrative, and less sensitive to the individual needs of learners. Meanwhile, the humanistic approach contributes to placing learners at the center of learning, paying attention to affective and psychological aspects, and encouraging more adaptive, participatory, and meaningful learning. Based on this, this article offers a conceptual model for humanistic-system-based Arabic language learning planning, which includes analysis of student needs, formulation of integrative objectives, systematic and contextual organization of materials, selection of adaptive methods and media, implementation of participatory learning, and comprehensive and reflective evaluation. In conclusion, the reconstruction of humanistic-system-based Arabic language learning planning produces a more complete planning paradigm, namely remaining systematic but simultaneously oriented towards holistic student development.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of participatory management through the synergy between school committees and parents in accelerating the short surah memorization program at Banjar Public Elementary School, Kertek District, Wonosobo Regency, during the 2026/2027 academic year. The study employed a qualitative case study approach involving the principal, teachers, school committee members, parents, and students as research participants. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, and were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion-drawing techniques. The findings reveal that participatory management was effectively implemented through collaborative planning, shared decision-making, open communication, stakeholder involvement, and continuous monitoring and evaluation. The synergy between school committees and parents significantly contributed to the success of the memorization program by providing motivational support, facilitating learning resources, strengthening supervision, and creating a conducive learning environment both at school and at home. This collaboration enhanced students’ memorization achievement, learning discipline, religious awareness, and commitment to Qur’anic learning. The study concludes that participatory management supported by strong partnerships between school committees and parents is an effective strategy for improving the implementation of religious education programs and promoting holistic student development. The findings provide valuable insights for schools seeking to strengthen stakeholder participation in achieving educational goals.

Abstract

The proliferation of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools in education has prompted urgent questions about their impact on higher-order cognitive skills. In science education, where critical thinking and scientific reasoning are foundational, understanding how GenAI reshapes these competencies is essential. This study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following PRISMA 2020 guidelines to synthesize empirical evidence on the effects of GenAI on students' critical thinking skills in science learning contexts. A comprehensive search across Scopus, ERIC, and Google Scholar databases spanning 2020-2026 identified 25 eligible studies. Findings reveal a conditional dual impact: GenAI enhances critical thinking when integrated within structured inquiry and problem-based frameworks, but poses risks of cognitive over-reliance and surface-level processing when used without pedagogical scaffolding. Critical moderating factors include AI literacy, instructional design quality, teacher facilitation, and task structure. The novelty of this review lies in its exclusive focus on the intersection of GenAI, critical thinking, and science education. Implications for curriculum designers, science teachers, and policymakers in developing-country contexts are discussed
