Abstract

The research question in this research is how effective classroom learning is using asynchronous learning with the purpose to determine the effectiveness of learning in class by observing students' ability to accept and understand a material with asynchronous method. The research method in this research uses a qualitative descriptive methodology. Descriptive qualitative research method is a non-experimental research method that is relatively easy. This research method is used to describe qualitative data obtained related to the state of the subject of a population. The participants in this study are English education students Muhammadiyah University in Makassar. Purposive sampling is use by the researcher at this time. The result of the research reveal that , it can be said that online learning is effective because of the data obtained by many existing courses. using asynchronous learning methods in learning, namely by using Google Classroom as a learning application that is often used because it has many features that greatly support the effectiveness of learning and some student opinions from interviews regarding the effectiveness of online asynchronous learning.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to find out the students’ perception of the use of Google meet application in English learning at eleventh grade students of MA Guppi Samata Gowa. The researcher used quantitative descriptive research. The sample of this research was eleventh grade students of MA Guppi Samata Gowa which consist of 20 students. The sample was taken by using questioner with Google form. Based on the findings, it was found that students gave positive perception on the use of Google meet in teaching English, the positive response came from their experience in learning process. The result of the research indicated that based on the Likert’s score analysis there were 12 (85,7%) out of the students was categorized positive perception in which score classification is 42-70, beside that there were 2 students (14,3%) had neutral perception and none of students have negative perception. It was categorized that Google meet used in teaching English effective to apply, it helps the learning teaching process in the class. The recommendation for the future research to conduct a research related to the using of Google meet in teaching and learning procces such as kahoot, as the advance of tecnology keep increasing time by time.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are: (1) To know students’ perception toward the use of video-recorded speaking assignment in speaking subject. (2) To find out students’ challenges the use of video-recorded speaking assignment in speaking subject. This research is categorized as quantitative research with took two period of time for the data collection by using questionnaire. The total sample are 46 students used by Purposive Sampling technique. The result of analyze of questionnaire consist of two indicators. Based on the result of this research showed that in table 4.1 the mean 3.29 with Std .49 in level very high (strongly positive), in table 4.2 the mean 2.5 with Std .79 in level Low (Negative). And for the students’ challenges showed that the highest percentage in adequate gadget quality factor with 52,2% or 24 students followed by preparation in conducting material factor with 41,3% or 19 students, and video size to upload factor with 39,1% or 18 students, and the lowest percentage is insufficient knowledge in editing video with 4,3% or 2 students. As a result, the students’ Perception toward the use of video-recorded speaking assignment at Sixth Semester English Education Department of Muhammadiyah University of Makassar categorized was Positive/strongly agree and the dominant challenges factor was inadequate gadget quality

Abstract

This research aims to know the students’ perception of e-learning in studying English and to find out the students’ problems in e-learning during the Covid-19 pandemic at the Eighth Grade of SMP Islam Athirah 1 Makassar. The design of this research is Descriptive Quantitative. The population of the research was the Eighth Grade students of SMP Islam Athirah 1 Makassar which consist of 30 samples. The technique was Random Sampling Technique and the data were collected by the questionnaire. The researcher used Likert Scale and descriptive analysis to analyze the data. The result of this study shows that the students perception of e-learning in studying English during Covid-19 pandemic have positive respond, most of students was agree with the benefits of e-learning. While the students’ problems faced was the level of concentration and seriousness of their learning decreased during online learning. The internet access is not stable and device facilities, such as smartphone and laptop do not support in accessing e-learning. The students were also difficult to understand the material provided by the teacher and have difficulty doing individual assignments and group assignments that have to work on together by online. The last problems were the students easily experience stress during e-learning. Based on the result, it could be concluded that students enjoyed the benefits of e-learning, but the sudden adoption of online learning and lack of preparation, raises several problems.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the students’ interest in using an app called Duolingo as their speaking learning media at eighth grade of SMPN 1 Galesong Utara in Academic Year 2021/2022. The sample of this research used 30 students from eight grade and the sample was taking by using Random Sampling technique. The approach of this study is Descriptive Qualitative. The instrument that use to collect the data was questionnaire with five option likert. Based on the findings, the researcher said that the students in SMPN 1 Galesong utara are “interested” to use Duolingo as their learning media. This can be proved by the students questionnaire result, that showed magnificent score, with classification “interested” (2.51 – 5.00), and the average score that the students’ got was 3.9. Therefore, the conclusion of the research is the students’ in SMPN 1 Galesong Utara are interested in using Duolingo as their media in learning speaking

Abstract

The research aims to find out the application of Wind Blows Game to develop students’ vocabulary at the eighth grade in MTs Ma’arif Bolaromang. This research was conducted in a pre-experimental using a quantitative approach. To collect the data from the students, the researcher was use test (vocabulary test). The sample was selected by using total sampling because the researcher took one class at the eighth grade in MTs Ma’arif Bolaromang. The sample in this research was 20 students. The research found that there was a significant difference between students' pre-test and post-test scores. The students' mean score before treatment was 47.75, but it improved to 78.75 after applying Wind Blows Game. While the students' mean score in the term of verb before treatment was 52, it improved to 76 after treatment. It's the same with the students' mean score in the term of noun, which was 43.5 before treatment and 81.5 after applied Wind Blows Game. Furthermore, t-test analysis showed that t-test value was bigger than t-table, indicating that students' vocabulary totally (12.03>1.729), verb (6.99>1.729), and noun (10.57>1.729) were all higher than t-table. As a result, the Null Hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the Alternative Hypothesis (H1) was accepted as the research hypothesis. It shows that Wind Blows Game was successful in developing students' verb and noun vocabulary

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the effect of E-book Reader application on students’ reading comprehension at the second grade of SMAN 16 Gowa. The researcher applied descriptive qualitative research design. The subject of this research was 25 students. The result of this research showed that there were five positive effects by used E-book Reader application were E-book Reader application makes the students read more effectively, E-book Reader application makes easier for students to identify reading structures and main idea, E-book Reader application make students easier to read by using the features available, E-book Reader application makes students enthusiastic in reading and the last by using E-book Reader application the students save time and place.
