Abstract

Community service activities in the form of Planning for the Taman Pendidikan Alquran (TPA) An-Nur Study Center, aim to provide TPA supporting facility planning services by making drawings of the study center plan and cost budget plan for the implementation of its construction. The target audience in this community service activity is the manager of the TPA An-Nur in Lambada Peukan Village. The stage of data collection for planning begins with an interview on the needs of facilities and observation of the introduction of existing conditions at the planning site. The interview method is used to obtain information on the condition of existing facilities and the needs of facilities needed for the future. Furthermore, the data collected is processed into concepts and plan drawings. Meanwhile, in the final stage, a cost budget plan is made for the implementation of the planned facility construction. The benefits obtained from this community service activity are the production of a drawing document of the plan of the TPA An-Nur Study Center and a budget plan for its construction costs, making it easier for managers to follow up on the construction stage of the TPA An-Nur facility.

Abstract

In tourism development, the majority of building materials used are modern materials. Even many local people are not familiar with the typical building materials of Central Aceh. Roofs made of serule leaves are traditional materials in Central Aceh (Ferah Yosantia et al., n.d.). The serule plant has flowers and leaves that are similar to Etlingera elatior, the Zingiberaceae family. Serule leaves grow abundantly around the edge of Lake Laut Tawar, Bintang District which continues eastward for 20 km to Serule Village. So this community service developed the manufacture of serule leaf roofs through mentoring and training for the people of Genuruen Village. This service activity was carried out in Genuren Village, Aceh Tengah applying several stages, namely: preparation stage, socialization, and implementation of activities and evaluation. Each stage is carefully planned so that the activity runs according to expectations. There are several parties involved in this activity. The results of this training will be used as a roof covering material for Umah Pitu Ruang, as a continuation of the unfinished UPR Redevelopment project. The goal is to maintain and revive the tradition of traditional craftsmanship. In addition, the final product of this serule soup will also be used in the renovation of gazebos as public facilities in Genuren Village. From the training activities on making traditional roofs using serule leaves, the community gained knowledge and skills to make serule soup. Thus, the community in Genuren Village can preserve the serule plant which is now rare, utilize local resources effectively, and improve their economic welfare.

Abstract

Groundwater is water that sourced from rainwater, river water and others which seeps into the ground and accumulates in a layer called an aquifer. Estimation of the distribution and identification of aquifer geometry is carried out to assist the people of Cot Madhi Village in an effort to design the depth of drilling to obtain water that will be used for their basic and supporting needs. In this measurement, the 1D resistivity geoelectric method is used to determine the resistivity value changes of the rock layer which serves to identify the type of aquifer and the depth of the aquifer for efficient drilling of well activities. The measurement uses Supersting instruments with Wenner-Schlumberger cable configuration. The results showed subsurface resistivity values in the measurement area between 3.4 - 112.1 m. The penetration depth in this measurement is up to 165 meters deep. The resistivity model profile indicates a very economical water layer (aquifer) with a resistivity of 27.3 m located at a depth of 54-84 meters with a thickness of 30 meters. This research found a potential aquifer layer as a source of clean water.

Abstract

Community empowerment through eco-print training by utilizing local plants aims to improve the skills and knowledge of the community in processing natural materials into value-added products. The training focused on the eco-print technique, which is a natural printing method that uses the potential leaves and local plants to create unique designs on fabrics. By utilizing local resources, participants not only learn new skills, but are also expected to develop sustainable creative enterprises with cultural relevance. The program involves active participation from the community, allowing them to share experiences and knowledge by conducted hands-on workshops on the eco-print technique, as well as build business networks. The results of the training showed an increase in participants' abilities in eco-print techniques and understanding of the importance of environmental sustainability. Through this initiative, the community is expected to support the increase their income by facilitated collaboration and business network development among participants for long-term growth, preserve local plants, and contribute to cultural and environmental preservation.

Abstract

Wild boars pose a significant threat to cassava farmers in the Jantho Baru area, Aceh Besar district, as they can reduce agricultural productivity. The region's location in hilly terrain near a protected forest makes this challenge unavoidable. An initial assessment with farmer groups (partners) identified the need for a monitoring and protection system to manage wild boar infestations in cassava farms. The partner's land, situated 42 km from the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Syiah Kuala, spans 5 hectares in a hilly area adjacent to the protected forest.To address this issue, an IoT-based technology solution is proposed for monitoring and safeguarding cassava farms. This system includes video cameras that allow farmers to remotely monitor their land via smartphones. Additionally, security measures such as electric fences and speaker outputs, controlled through an Android-based mobile application, are implemented. The system is powered by renewable solar energy through the use of solar panels. The application of this technology is expected to reduce crop losses caused by wild boars, ultimately improving farm productivity.

Abstract

Daun kari (Murraya koenigii (L.) Spreng) merupakan tanaman asli Asia Selatan yang terkenal di berbagai masakan karena rasa dan aromanya. Di Indonesia, Aceh merupakan daerah yang umum menggunakan kari dalam masakannya, namun sejauh ini penggunaanya sebatas sebagai bumbu masakan. Melalui kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat berbasis Gampong Binaan (PKM- BGB), kegiatan ini bertujuan memperkenalkan pemanfaatan dan pelatihan pembuatan produk komersial dari daun kari menjadi mie dan keripik daun kari. Mitra yang terlibat sebagai penerima manfaat adalah perempuan Desa Ie Masen Ulee Kareng (IMUK) Banda Aceh. Kegiatan ini terdiri atas beberapa tahapan yaitu edukasi pemanfaatan daun kari, pelatihan produksi, pelatihan keamanan dan kehalalan produk, introduksi fasilitas produksi serta evaluasi hasil kegiatan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa mitra telah memperoleh pengetahuan mengenai pemanfaatan daun kari, keamanan dan kehalalan produk. Mitra telah dilatih membuat mie dan keripik dan telah memperoleh sejumlah fasilitas produksi. Secara keseluruhan kegiatan telah berlangsung dengan baik. Perlu dilakukan pendampingan lanjutan untuk memastikan keberlanjutan dari program ini.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur tingkat pemahaman masyarakat Kecamatan Mesjid Raya, Aceh Besar, tentang peran mangrove dalam menjaga stabilitas geologi pantai dan dampaknya terhadap lingkungan pesisir. Sosialisasi dilakukan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan warga mengenai fungsi mangrove dalam mencegah abrasi, erosi, dan intrusi air laut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah survei kuesioner yang dibagikan kepada masyarakat setelah sosialisasi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat mengenai pentingnya mangrove dalam menjaga stabilitas pantai. Sebelum sosialisasi, sebagian besar warga belum sepenuhnya memahami hubungan antara mangrove dan dinamika geologi pantai. Namun, setelah kegiatan sosialisasi, mayoritas responden menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman yang signifikan. Mereka menyadari bahwa mangrove berfungsi sebagai penghalang alami yang melindungi pantai dari kerusakan akibat gelombang laut dan erosi. Sosialisasi juga berhasil meningkatkan kesediaan warga untuk terlibat dalam upaya pelestarian mangrove, dengan banyak responden yang menyatakan minat untuk berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan rehabilitasi mangrove di masa mendatang. Penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya program edukasi lingkungan sebagai strategi efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat tentang pelestarian ekosistem pesisir. Dengan partisipasi aktif masyarakat, keberlanjutan lingkungan pesisir dapat dijaga, serta dampak negatif dari kerusakan ekosistem dapat diminimalkan. Ke depan, diperlukan upaya berkelanjutan untuk melibatkan masyarakat dalam kegiatan konservasi mangrove guna melindungi wilayah pesisir dari ancaman abrasi dan perubahan lingkungan

Abstract

Penggunaan energi listrik semakin meningkat. Genset dapat digunakan apabila pasokan listrik terganggu. Akan tetapi, genset ini membutuhkan bahan bakar minyak yang banyak jika dijalankan dalam jangka waktu yang lama. Penggunaan bahan bakar minyak atau bahan bakar lainnya seperti batu bara tidak dapat dilakukan tanpa adanya perkiraan penghematan, karena sumbernya terbatas dan semakin menipis. Untuk mengantisipasi menipisnya sumber daya bahan bakar alam, maka dilakukan penghematan dan pencarian bahan bakar alternatif yang sumbernya dapat diperbarui seperti tenaga surya, angin, air, dan gelombang laut serta biofuel. Sumber-sumber energi terbarukan tersebut dapat dikelola untuk menghasilkan energi listrik dengan merancang teknologi tepat guna sebagai pembangkit listrik seperti pembangkit listrik tenaga angin, pembangkit listrik tenaga surya, dan pembangkit listrik tenaga air. Edukasi dilakukan kepada masyarakat sekitar kampus USK tentang penghematan penggunaan energi listrik serta pemanfaatan dan pengenalan beberapa sumber energi terbarukan dan pengenalan beberapa pembangkit listrik yang menggunakan energi terbarukan. Masyarakat diberikan edukasi tentang jenis, fungsi, cara kerja dan perawatan pembangkit listrik energi terbarukan. Dalam pelatihan tersebut masyarakat diberikan penjelasan secara teoritis, kemudian diperlihatkan pembangkit listrik energi terbarukan di lokasi pelatihan, lalu dipandu dengan menunjukkan cara mengoperasikan pembangkit listrik tersebut.

Abstract

Gampong Baro, subdistrict of Mesjid Raya, Aceh Besar was strongly hit by the Indian ocean earthquake and tsunami in 2004. This is mainly due to its location which is situated near the shoreline. Moreover, many villagers of the Gampong Baro lost their lives during that geological hazard. It is well known that earthquake and tsunami may potentially return again in the future, and may cause another great misery. Our earlier, current study shows that many villagers of Gampong Baro are not familiar with the earthquake and tsunami hazards, and they have very little understanding of these geological phenomenon. Therefore, in order to help mitigate this geological hazard, we decided to organize a training about geological hazards mitigation procedures for the villagers of Gampong Baro, Aceh Besar. There are two objectives of this community service, which are: (1) to improve geological knowledge of the villagers of Gampong Baro, Aceh Besar; and (2) to conduct training about geological hazards mitigation procedures. Qualitative analysis, including focus group discussion, interviews, questionnaire, and surveys was carried out during this activity. Our findings show that villagers of Gampong Baro, Aceh Besar are eager to learn about geological knowledge, and have strong commitment to better understand many geological hazard mitigation procedures. They were very happy that we provided this training because they considered it as an important training, considering the potential of many geological hazards that may hit their village.

Abstract

The ideas of civic empowerment have transformed the discourse on sustainable suburban development, particularly through the active involvement of young people and the use of digital participatory media. This study, conducted in Manglayang, Bandung, employs an observational method using participatory action research to explore pathways toward the final evolutionary stage of sustainable development, focusing on rural agriculture and social, legal, and welfare citizenship. The research identifies key typologies of youth engagement in sustainable development, including social empowerment, entrepreneurship, and millennial agricultural movements, all facilitated by digital participatory media platforms. It also highlights a redefined notion of youth citizenship, emphasizing membership and participation in both civil and economic spheres through voluntary and profit-oriented activities. The findings reveal that this active, empowered form of citizenship, supported by digital participatory media, is a critical driver of modernization and sustainable economic development in Manglayang, Bandung.
