The phenomenon of Islamic preachers (da’i) emerging on social media reflects the diversity of da’wah styles and approaches, yet studies on the typology of digital preachers remain limited. This study aims to identify and classify the typology of da’i on social media based on da’wah content, media used, and audience segmentation. Using a qualitative descriptive method, this research employs content analysis of selected da’i's accounts across various social media platforms. The findings reveal three typological dimensions: 1) based on content, da’i are classified as textual or contextual; 2) based on media, as conventional or modern-digital; and 3) based on audience, as general or segmented. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of digital da’wah dynamics. It provides a practical framework for researchers and practitioners to develop more relevant and effective da’wah strategies in the social media era.

Research on digital da'wah has tended to be descriptive and has not examined much about how narratives of happiness are discursively framed. This study aims to analyze the framing of narratives of happiness in Dr. Fahruddin Faiz's digital lectures on the Ngaji Filsafat YouTube channel using William A. Gamson's framing theory. This study uses a qualitative discourse analysis approach with data in the form of transcripts of lectures on the theme of happiness collected through documentation, observation, and reflective field notes. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions according to Miles and Huberman. The results show that narratives of happiness are constructed through framing devices in the form of metaphors, key phrases, illustrative examples, and visual imagery supported by spiritual-existential reasoning patterns. Happiness is positioned as a process of self-management and ongoing spiritual orientation. Implicatively, these findings emphasize the role of digital da'wah as a psycho-religious framework in building the psychological resilience of audiences in the contemporary digital space.

The development of digital technology has transformed Islamic da’wah practices and strategies globally. Although digital da’wah has become integral to socio-religious life, scientific studies mapping global trends remain limited, particularly those based on quantitative data from reputable sources like Scopus. This study analyzes global trends in digital da’wah research using a bibliometric approach, drawing on 170 journal articles published between 2013 and 2025 and indexed in Scopus. The bibliometric method evaluates publication patterns, prolific authors, international collaborations, topic evolution, and keyword networks. Results show a sharp increase in publications since 2019, peaking in 2024. Topics such as Islam, social media, and digital religion dominate as motor themes, while Islamic education and digital literacy show potential as future trends. Indonesia contributes the most publications, though international collaboration remains limited. This study's novelty lies in the comprehensive global mapping of digital da’wah trends using Scopus bibliometric data, an approach that has rarely been used before. The main contribution is to present a conceptual framework that connects the digital era, da’wah media, and Islamic social transformation, and to provide insights to help academics and practitioners design more adaptive, data-driven da’wah strategies in the digital age.

This study addresses the gap in digital communication education that often emphasizes technical skills while neglecting ethical formation and the growing importance of visual representation in digital environments. It examines how digital communication learning can be designed as an ethical and prophetic practice through a scaffolding-based service learning approach grounded in the principle of Ahsanu Qaulan. Using a qualitative pedagogical case study, the research was conducted in an Anthropology and Brand Management course at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, involving 140 students and 15 SMEs. Data were collected through observations, reflections, interviews, and digital artifacts. The findings show that staged scaffolding shifts students understanding from technical production to context-sensitive, honest, and visually responsible communication. Students internalized Ahsanu Qaulan in language, message claims, and visual representation. This study concludes that value-based scaffolding service learning effectively integrates ethical sensitivity, visual literacy, and professional competence in digital communication. The findings imply that digital communication courses should embed ethical checkpoints, staged feedback, and community-based digital projects into the curriculum, enabling students not only to produce persuasive digital content but also to practice accountable, culturally sensitive, and socially responsible communication for real community partners.

Research on journalists’ role perception in Islamic journalism remains limited, particularly in contexts where Sharia is formally implemented. This study examines journalists’ role perceptions in reporting Sharia in Aceh, the only province in Indonesia that implements Sharia. A qualitative approach was employed through semi-structured interviews with eleven journalists in Aceh. The findings show that journalists perceive their roles as educators explaining Sharia regulations, advocates of Sharia-related initiatives, and watchdogs monitoring implementation. Membership in the Journalists’ Caucus for Concerns of Sharia (Kaukus Wartawan Peduli Syariat Islam, KWPSI) encourages a more explicit articulation of advocacy roles, while non-KWPSI journalists express similar orientations more indirectly. The socio-cultural context of Aceh further shapes these perceptions beyond organizational boundaries, explaining the presence of pro-Sharia orientations among non-KWPSI journalists. The findings suggest that journalism in contexts like Aceh should be understood through both professional norms and socio-religious values, with implications for Islamic journalism education and practice.
