Abstract

This study explores the role of transformational leadership in supporting the success of the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) at SMAN 1 Bagan Sinembah, Rokan Hilir Regency. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document study involving school leaders, curriculum staff, quality assurance personnel, teachers, and alumni. The findings show that the principal's transformational leadership was manifested through inspirational motivation, individualized consideration, and intellectual stimulation. Strategic practices included strengthening a shared vision, longitudinal analysis of student achievement, early class-package planning, layered PDSS verification, holiday tutoring, and data-based study-program rationalization. SNBP graduation increased from 11 students in 2018/2019 to 61 students in 2021/2022 and remained the highest at the regency level despite policy changes. The study concludes that transformational leadership can act as a catalyst for collective self-efficacy and school competitiveness when supported by systematic data management and collaborative teamwork.

Abstract

This classroom action research investigated the effectiveness of the Active Learning Role Reversal Question strategy in improving critical thinking skills among fourth-grade students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri (MIN) 1 Bungo within Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS) learning on the topic of states of matter and their transformations. The study was grounded in constructivist and critical pedagogical theory, emphasizing dialogical inquiry, reflective interaction, and student-centered knowledge construction. The research employed the Kemmis and McTaggart spiral Classroom Action Research model involving planning, action, observation, and reflection across two instructional cycles. Data were collected through critical thinking tests, classroom observations, field documentation, and reflective analysis. Quantitative findings revealed a substantial increase in students’ critical thinking achievement from 42.59% in Cycle I to 82.54% in Cycle II, indicating a 39.95% improvement. Qualitative observations additionally demonstrated significant transformation in students’ analytical participation, scientific argumentation, evaluative reasoning, and intellectual confidence. The findings confirmed that the Role Reversal Question strategy effectively transformed passive teacher-centered learning into a participatory and critically oriented scientific learning environment capable of stimulating higher-order thinking and epistemological autonomy among elementary learners.

Abstract

This study examined how Learning Community (Komunitas Belajar/KomBel) culture at SMAN 1 Bagan Sinembah contributed to accelerating differentiated deep learning. The study was motivated by the PLC Lite phenomenon, in which learning community activities were conducted formally but had not yet produced meaningful professional collaboration among teachers. A qualitative approach with a single embedded case study design was employed. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured in-depth interviews, and document analysis involving teachers, the KomBel coordinator, and the principal selected purposively. Data were analyzed using Miles, Huberman, and Saldana's interactive thematic model. The findings show that KomBel functions as a trust-based professional learning ecosystem through reflective collaboration, student data utilization, and co-creation of differentiated teaching materials. Differentiated instruction produced multidimensional effects on students, especially affective gains such as self-confidence and intrinsic motivation before cognitive improvement. The sustainability of KomBel requires both systemic institutional support and an authentic collaborative culture.

Abstract

This study analyzed digital collaborative leadership in strengthening vocational-school quality at SMKN 1 Rangkasbitung. The main problem was the persistence of administrative supervision, fragmented teacher-performance data, and limited real-time visibility of classroom learning and internship activities. A qualitative case-study design was used through document analysis, digital-practice observation, and semi-structured interviews with nine purposively selected informants: the principal, vice principals, information-technology team, teachers, and students. The findings showed that ESEMKA BESTARI and TEWAK functioned not merely as administrative applications but as governance instruments for reorganizing supervision, discipline, and data-based decision making. Transformative leadership built shared urgency for measurable quality improvement; innovative leadership institutionalized digital workflows; and collaborative leadership expanded accountability by positioning teachers and students as data producers. The study concluded that digital leadership becomes effective when technology adoption is accompanied by cultural reconstruction, ethical data governance, teacher capacity building, and continuous evaluation of platform usefulness.
