Abstract

Bullying remains a serious issue in educational institutions, including Islamic boarding schools, due to its negative impact on students’ psychological, social, and spiritual development. Although pesantren are known for their strong emphasis on religious and moral values, bullying still occurs in various forms verbal, physical, and psychological. This indicates a gap between value education and its practical application in daily life. This study aims to analyze the strategies implemented by Muhammadiyah Boarding School (MBS) Klaten in addressing bullying among students. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the causes of bullying include internal factors, such as students’ introverted or aggressive traits, and external factors like a culture of seniority.   MBS Klaten has adopted several preventive strategies, including confidential reporting mechanisms, education about the dangers of bullying, close supervision by dormitory supervisors (musyrif), and counseling services. These strategies have proven effective in creating a safe, inclusive environment that supports students’ character development. The implications of this study highlight the need for faith-based educational institutions to develop a comprehensive and systemic approach to bullying prevention beyond moral instruction alone. Strengthening collaboration among caregivers, teachers, and counselors is essential to build a responsive detection and intervention system. Additionally, promoting a culture of empathy, compassion, and care should be integrated into all aspects of student life as part of sustainable character education.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the communication strategies employed in Islamic religious guidance for the elderly at the Wredha Budhi Dharma Nursing Home in Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta. A qualitative descriptive approach was used, with data collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that religious guidance is delivered in a structured manner, taking into account the physical and psychological conditions of the elderly. The communication strategies implemented by Islamic religious counselors include the use of simple language, persuasive and educational delivery techniques, and personalized approaches tailored to each individual's characteristics. Additionally, guidance activities are conducted regularly through lectures, discussions, and worship practice. The effectiveness of these communication strategies is reflected in the increased participation of the elderly in religious activities, as well as the development of inner peace and spiritual connection. This study recommends further training in communication for religious counselors to enhance the emotional and spiritual impact of the guidance provided. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of adapting communication strategies to the unique needs of the elderly, considering their physical, psychological, and spiritual conditions. It suggests that religious counselors should undergo specialized training to effectively engage with this demographic, ensuring that their guidance is not only religiously relevant but also emotionally and mentally supportive. The personalized approach to guidance, utilizing simple language, engaging techniques, and regular activities, contributes to creating a spiritually enriching environment. Additionally, the study highlights the need for religious institutions and elderly care homes to incorporate these strategies into their standard practices, potentially through the development of formal training programs for counselors and the use of modern communication tools. Furthermore, this research opens the door for future studies to explore the long-term effects of religious guidance on the emotional and spiritual well-being of the elderly, and the potential role of digital tools in making such guidance more accessible to those in institutional care settings.

Abstract

The use of gadgets among students is increasing with technological advancements. This study aims to analyze students' gadget usage habits at MAN 1 Surakarta, the factors influencing their usage, and the school's and parents' supervision efforts. The findings show that students frequently use gadgets outside of class hours, such as during breaks, before teachers enter the classroom, and after lessons are completed. However, students remain disciplined during teaching and learning activities due to strict rules. If a student uses a gadget during lessons, the device is confiscated and the parents are called to the school. School policy also influences Gadget use, where only regular class students are allowed to bring gadgets. In contrast, PK and Boarding School students are only permitted to bring laptops for learning purposes. The factors influencing this habit are divided into external factors, such as the school environment, peer influence, and parental supervision, and internal factors, such as motivation, the need for entertainment, and student discipline. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that students fall into the category of mild addiction, as they do not use gadgets excessively and still comply with school rules. Therefore, consistent supervision from teachers and parents is crucial to guide students in using gadgets wisely to balance education, worship, and other activities. This research highlights the importance of collaboration between teachers especially Akidah Akhlak teachers and parents, along with counselling staff, in fostering student digital awareness. Additionally, schools are encouraged to develop adaptive and educational gadget usage policies so that technology can be utilized for learning and strengthening students' religious character.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to understand students' experiences with the audiovisual-based Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Sragen. Educational media plays an important role in the learning process as it can attract students' attention and increase their participation. In this era of rapidly advancing technology, students are encouraged to be creative and innovative in choosing the right teaching methods and media to improve their learning outcomes. The findings of this study show that the use of audiovisual materials in PAI learning helps create an engaging and interactive learning environment. Unlike conventional methods that tend to be monotonous, students who consistently attend classes using this media are more focused and have better comprehension. Additionally, the use of PowerPoint presentations and videos provided by the instructor helps students understand the material. However, there are still certain challenges in the use of educational media, such as limited time for learning, difficulty in finding the right media models, and costs. Therefore, it is important for students to understand the lesson plan (RPP) and choose the appropriate media so that the learning process can run smoothly and effectively. In summary, this study highlights the importance of using audiovisual materials in PAI instruction to improve student motivation and learning outcomes and offers recommendations to students on how to better utilize media in the teaching process. This study provides important implications for the development of curricula and teaching methods in schools. The use of audiovisual media in PAI learning can be an effective alternative to increase student engagement, especially in creating a more interactive and enjoyable learning experience. Therefore, it is essential for teachers to further develop their ability to effectively utilize technology media, as well as to provide training for students to maximize the use of such media. Furthermore, schools need to consider allocating a larger budget for providing adequate learning media and allowing time for preparing materials that align with the curriculum.

Abstract

This study is driven by the urgency to strengthen students' character through the implementation of the Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5), as mandated by the Kurikulum Merdeka. However, its implementation at the primary school level particularly in resource-limited settings such as SD Negeri 3 Bucu Jepara faces various complex challenges. The aim of this study is to evaluate the execution of P5, identify the encountered obstacles, and formulate adaptive and contextual improvement strategies. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data validity was ensured using source and technique triangulation, and the analysis followed the interactive model by Miles and Huberman. The findings reveal that while P5 has created space for meaningful contextual learning, its implementation remains suboptimal. The main barriers include limited parental involvement, insufficient teacher competence in designing project-based learning, and a lack of supporting infrastructure. Additionally, technical and social constraints such as students’ financial limitations, ineffective group dynamics, and resistance from some parents toward activities requiring additional contributions were also identified. To address these issues, several strategic recommendations are proposed: intensifying parental engagement, enhancing teacher competence through practical training, utilizing local potentials as alternative learning resources, and conducting reflective evaluations involving all stakeholders. Through a collaborative and context-based approach, P5 implementation holds strong potential as a foundation for internalizing the noble values of Pancasila within students. This research highlights the need to address challenges in implementing P5, especially in schools with limited resources. The findings suggest that increasing parental involvement, improving teacher training, and utilizing local resources can improve P5’s effectiveness. Additionally, the study calls for policy support to strengthen infrastructure and materials. Overall, this research contributes to the discussion on improving the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka in areas with socio-economic challenges.
