Abstract

Background: In Indonesia, the increasing number of patients who require Speech Therapy treatment is inversely proportional to the number of Speech Therapists. in some health facilities that have Speech Therapy services there is a buildup of patients which causes Speech Therapists to treat more than 6 (six) patients per day. This can make Speech Therapists vulnerable to voice problems. Variations of voice problems that arise include throat discomfort, vocal fatigue, and hoarseness. Objectives: To determine the relationship between the duration of clinical service hours and symptoms of voice problems in Speech Therapists in Kabupaten Sleman Yogyakarta. Methods: This research is a type of quantitative research and correlation study research design with cross sectional data collection. The data collection technique in this study used a total sampling technique of 60 respondents. The data collected will be analyzed statistically using the Spearman Rank Correlation test. Results: The results of the analysis test show that the sig value of 0.001 is smaller than 0.05 (0.001<0.05) so that there is a relationship between the duration of clinical service hours and symptoms of voice problems in Speech Therapists in Kabupaten Sleman Yogyakarta. In addition, there is a coefficient of 0.409 indicating that the variable duration of clinical service hours and symptoms of voice problems have a significant positive correlation. Conclusion: Based on the results of the data analysis, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the duration of clinical service hours and symptoms of voice problems in Speech Therapists in Kabupaten Sleman Yogyakarta. This shows that the higher the duration of clinical service hours, the higher the symptoms of voice problems. Keywords: Duration of Clinical Service Hours, Voice Problems, Speech Therapist

Abstract

Background: Cardiovascular fitness is a crucial aspect of student health, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to reduced physical activity. One proven method to enhance cardiovascular fitness is High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). However, there are differing opinions regarding the minimal HIIT dosage required to improve VO2 max. Objectives: This study aims to compare the effects of performing HIIT once a week versus twice a week on increasing VO2 max in students. Methods: This study employed a two-group pre-test and post-test design with a sample of 30 students who were randomly assigned into two groups. The first group performed HIIT once per week, while the second group performed HIIT twice per week for three consecutive weeks. VO2 max was measured before and after the intervention using the Beep Test. Results: The findings revealed that both groups experienced an increase in VO2 max after the intervention. In the once-per-week HIIT group, the average VO2 max increased from 32.60 ± 1.54 mL/kg/min to 32.75 ± 1.58 mL/kg/min, but the increase was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). In contrast, the twice-per-week HIIT group showed a more significant increase, from 31.58 ± 0.75 mL/kg/min to 32.16 ± 0.84 mL/kg/min (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Performing HIIT twice a week is more effective in improving VO2 max than performing it once a week.   Keywords: High-Intensity Interval Training, VO2 max, cardiovascular fitness, students.

Abstract

Background: There was code mixing and code changes in the movie. The main point of this piece might be tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, or later. Objectives: The main goal of this work is so find and study the different kinds of code mixing and code flipping that occur when characters talk. The goal of this study is to find the different kinds of code mixing and code swapping and the factors that affect how they are used. Methods: The qualitative method used in this study lets the researchers look at the data in great detail and figure how out social and cultural factors affect how people use words. The way used to collect data for this study is to listen and take notes. Results: Researchers watch the movie and pay close attention to the dialogue. They write down cases of code switching and code mixing. The results of the study show that code mixing can occur both inside and outside of a company. This is because of how different languages work together. Additionally, there are types of internal and external code swapping that demonstrate how characters adapt to various communication contexts. These results offer a more comprehensive understanding of the intrigue of language use in films and how it mirrors prevailing social reality. Conclusion: This study shows how several factors can influence code switching and code mixing in movies. Some of these are the presence of a third speaker, limited vocabulary, the background of the speakers, the conversation partners, and the topics being discussed. In this movie, we can see the use of various languages, such as Indonesian, Javanese, Turkish, and English, all of which play a role in creating code switching and code mixing. Abstract

Background: Pragmatic ability is a crucial component of social communication, encompassing the understanding of context, nonverbal cues, and conversational rules. Individuals with disorders such as Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) often experience difficulties in this area. Conventional speech therapy typically emphasizes structural aspects of language and has not fully addressed pragmatic needs. Pragmatic interventions, such as the Pragmatic Intervention Programme (PICP), have proven effective, particularly when involving active participation from both children and their parents. Objectives: This review aims to evaluate the role of pragmatic ability in speech therapy based on literature from the past five years, to support more contextual and comprehensive practices. Methods: Five peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2024 were systematically analyzed using the PRISMA approach. Results: The findings indicate that collaborative and context-based pragmatic interventions have a positive impact on children's social communication skills. Conclusion: These results highlight the need for a more inclusive and interdisciplinary approach to speech therapy, emphasizing parental involvement and the use of technology as a complement to traditional interventions.
