Abstract

The development of digital technology and access to e-commerce has strengthened the consumer culture and flex culture lifestyle among urban Muslim women in Cibinong and Ciawi Districts, Bogor Regency, which can be seen in the tendency to buy non-primary goods, go into debt to support their lifestyle, and show off luxury on social media. This condition weakens the internalization of tarbiyah values and family ecology, and threatens the realization of a sakinah, mawaddah, warahmah family. This service aims to: (1) map the conditions of consumer culture and flex culture among Muslim women members of the taklim assembly, (2) formulate and implement mentoring strategies based on tarbiyah values and family ecology, and (3) assess the impact on the resilience of Muslim women's families. The program uses a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach with the main partners of the Ma'hadussholawah taklim assembly, Basama, and the Al-Qur'an Park Teachers Association (IGTA). The activity stages include problem mapping, module preparation, thematic training, mentoring sessions and family consumption management practices, monitoring through daily journals and checklists, as well as joint reflection and evaluation. Data was collected through participatory observation, interviews, questionnaires, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), and documentation, then analyzed qualitatively thematically and quantitatively descriptive to measure changes in knowledge, attitudes, and consumption practices. The results of the service show an increase in Muslim women's knowledge regarding the concept of tarbiyah, family ecology, and Islamic consumption ethics, accompanied by strengthening critical attitudes towards flex culture and awareness of the risks of consumer debt. Participants reported starting to implement family financial planning, reducing impulse purchases based on social media trends, increasing deliberation with partners regarding consumption decisions, and instilling the value of simple living in their children. Daily diary data reflect a decrease in the frequency of purchasing non-primary goods and an increase in the practice of periodically evaluating consumption at the family level. This program produces a model of mentoring Muslim women based on tarbiyah values and family ecology which is oriented towards strengthening the economic, social and spiritual resilience of families, as well as providing practical contributions to the development of community-based Islamic education management in response to consumer culture and flex culture.

Abstract

This study aims to gain an in-depth understanding of the experiences and internal processes of students in the Islamic Elementary Teacher Education (PGMI) Study Program in developing metacognition and critical thinking through the implementation of group discussion strategies in the Evaluation of Learning course. Using a descriptive phenomenological approach, this study involved 18 PGMI students who actively participated in group discussion sessions. Primary data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory classroom observations, and document analysis. The data were analyzed thematically to identify core categories and emerging themes. The findings revealed two central themes: first, the externalization of cognitive processes, where group discussions served as a medium for metacognitive awareness, encouraging students to recognize, monitor, and evaluate their own thinking strategies; and second, the enhancement of critical thinking, where differences of opinion within the group triggered constructive socio-cognitive conflicts that prompted students to engage in reflective reasoning and argument evaluation. The study highlights that the quality of social interaction within group discussions plays a crucial role in facilitating the internalization of higher-order cognitive skills among prospective Islamic elementary teachers. Overall, group discussion is shown to be not merely an active learning method but a pedagogical strategy that effectively fosters metacognition and critical thinking, shaping reflective and professional teacher candidates in the PGMI program.

Abstract

The implementation of extracurricular education in Islamic boarding schools plays a strategic role in shaping students’ character and developing their potential beyond the scope of intramural learning. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation at Pondok Pesantren Minhajul Haq Purwakarta. Data were analyzed interactively through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the extracurricular policy in this pesantren is designed to balance religious activities with the development of students’ interests and talents. Supervisors hold a central role in guiding programs and instilling values of discipline, responsibility, and collaboration. Academic activities such as the Math Club and Science Club enhance intellectual competence, while non-academic activities such as Pramuka, Tahfidz, and Archery nurture character, spirituality, and social skills. Challenges include limited human resources and facilities, whereas institutional support and supervisory commitment are key factors ensuring policy effectiveness. Overall, the implementation of extracurricular education policies at the pesantren contributes significantly to the development of students’ independence, leadership, and personal integrity

Abstract

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low reading ability of elementary school students, which has an impact on their difficulties in understanding learning materials and on the development of early literacy skills. Among 20 first-grade students at SDI Bandar Kidul, Kediri City, 10 students are not yet fluent in reading, 7 students experience difficulties in reading, and 3 students are unable to read at all. This condition highlights the need for learning guidance (tutoring) as one of the possible solutions. The research problems addressed in this study are how learning guidance influences the reading development of first-grade students at SDI Bandar Kidul, Kediri City, and to what extent this influence contributes to improving students’ reading abilities. Accordingly, this study aims to examine the effect of learning guidance on the reading development of first-grade students at SDI Bandar Kidul, Kediri City, and to measure the extent of its contribution in helping students improve letter recognition, syllable decoding, reading words and simple sentences, as well as enhancing students’ self-confidence.
