Abstract

Pneumonia is an infectious disease that affects the lower respiratory tract with signs and symptoms such as coughing and shortness of breath. Pneumonia, or inflammation of the lungs, can cause various serious impacts, including complications such as lung abscess, empyema, pleural effusion, respiratory failure, and even death. In addition, pneumonia can also cause pulmonary fibrosis and bronchiectasis, and increase the risk of kidney failure if complications such as sepsis occur. In An.M, the main complaint felt was that the mother said that 3 days ago before entering the hospital she had a cough with phlegm, shortness of breath and difficulty in expelling phlegm. The purpose of this scientific paper is to obtain an overview of nursing care by providing pursed lips breathing exercises. This study uses a direct observation method in assessing, analyzing data, and diagnosing patients with Pneumonia with one respondent, carried out at HCU Anggrek. The results of this nursing care showed that breathing began to return to normal. This shows that pursed lips breathing exercises can provide changes to breathing in Pneumonia patients. It is hoped that patients can apply pursed lips breathing exercises routinely with the hope that breathing in patients will return to normal.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder that occurs because the body does not have enough insulin hormone due to disorders in insulin secretion or insulin hormone that does not work properly or both. DM can cause various impacts, ranging from mild problems to serious life-threatening complications. Some of the main impacts of DM include damage to blood vessels, nerves, eyes, kidneys, and cardiovascular problems such as heart disease, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease. One of the non-pharmacological therapies to overcome DM is Benson relaxation therapy. The purpose of the study was to provide nursing care through the provision of Benson relaxation therapy to reduce blood glucose levels in DM patients. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. The sample in this study was Mrs. S. The study was conducted on May 27-31, 2024. Therapy was carried out for 3 consecutive days. Blood sugar measurements on the first day were 290 mg/dL, blood sugar measurements on the third day after being given the Benson relaxation technique were 212 mg/dL. The results of the study showed a decrease in blood glucose levels of 18 mg/dL. It is hoped that nurses can carry out Benson relaxation therapy to reduce blood glucose levels in patients with DM.

Abstract

Obesity in adolescents can cause various health problems, both physical and psychological. Physical consequences include increased risk of heart disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, respiratory problems, bone and joint problems, and the risk of certain cancers. In addition, obesity can also cause psychological problems such as low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety, as well as social problems such as bullying. Hypertension in adolescents is a problem because it will continue into adulthood with a high risk of morbidity and mortality. The increase in obesity is accompanied by an increase in comorbidities that have the potential to become degenerative diseases in the future, such as coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes and hypertension. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between obesity and the incidence of hypertension in adolescents. This study was conducted in the Tanjungpinang Health Center work area on January 10-13, 2025. The study design used a cross-sectional. The population in this study were adolescents in the Tanjungpinang Health Center work area, the sample in this study amounted to 30 people. The hypothesis test used was chi-square. The results showed a relationship between obesity and hypertension in adolescents with a ρ-value of 0.003 (ρ ≤ 0.05). It is hoped that in the future adolescents can control their weight within the ideal range so that the risk of hypertension can be minimized.

Abstract

Pregnant women who have low hemaglobin (Hb) are prone to miscarriage (abortus), premature birth, prolonged labor due to fatigue of the uterine muscles in contracting (uterine inertia), bleeding due to the absence of uterine muscle contractions (atonia uteri), shock, infection during labor and postpartum, severe anemia which can cause decompensation of the chord due to this anemia, can cause shock and death in the mother during labor. To increase haemoglobin levels non-pharmacologically is to consume red guava. Guava can increase haemoglobin levels in the blood because it contains vitamin C. by increasing absorption and metabolism of iron, so that with sufficient vitamin C and animal protein, haemoglobin in the blood increases. This study aims to see the effect of giving red guava juice (psidium guajava, linn) on haemoglobin levels of pregnant women in Kuok Village, Kuok Health Center working area. This type of research uses a quasi-experiment method with a non-equivalent pretest-posttest design. The research was conducted on July 26-August 1, 2018. The population in this study were all pregnant women who suffered from anemia with haemoglobin levels of 8-11 gr%, namely 15 people. The sample in this study is the total population of 15 people. The Hb level before being given red guava juice was 8.80 and after being given red guava juice the Hb level was 12.60. The statistical test results obtained a p value of 0.000 (<0.05) which means that there is an effect of giving red guava juice on Hb levels at Kuok Health Center in 2018. It is expected that pregnant women consume red guava juice to increase Hb levels and the health center should always advise pregnant women to consume red guava juice.

Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in mothers, especially during pregnancy, has an impact on the health of the mother and baby. In mothers, CED increases the risk of infection, pregnancy complications, anemia, physical weakness, and mental and reproductive health disorders. In infants, maternal CED can cause low birth weight (LBW), stunting, developmental disorders, and the risk of perinatal death. The purpose of this study was to see if there was a relationship between knowledge and attitudes with the incidence of CED in pregnant women in the Kuok Health Center UPT Work Area. This type of research is analytical with a cross-sectional design. The population of this study was all pregnant women in the Kuok Health Center UPT work area totaling 128 people with a sample of 108 people taken using the stratified random sampling technique. The data collection tool in this study used a questionnaire. This study was conducted from 7-21 August 2024. This study used univariate and bivariate analysis. The results of the study showed that most respondents experienced CED, most respondents had less knowledge about balanced nutrition and most respondents had negative attitudes. There is a relationship between maternal knowledge about balanced nutrition and the incidence of KEK in pregnant women with a p value of 0.000. There is a relationship between attitudes and the incidence of KEK in pregnant women with a p value of 0.001. It is expected that health workers can improve counseling on nutrition and motivation for pregnant women to consume nutritious foods to avoid KEK in pregnant women.

Abstract

Postpartum perineal wounds can cause various postpartum problems, pain due to incision wounds can cause infection if not treated properly. Infection of the perineal wound can be a source of other infections in the mother, and if not treated properly, it can cause postpartum death. One of the non-pharmacological therapies to reduce pain intensity is effleurage massage using olive oil. This technique is a gentle massage with olive oil to reduce pain and provide comfort to the mother. This case study aims to provide nursing care through the application of effleurage massage with olive oil to reduce the intensity of perineal wound pain in postpartum mothers. This study uses a descriptive observational method in the form of a case study. The subject in this case is Mrs. A, 21 years old with perineal wound pain who was treated in the Baougenville room, Raja Ahmad Tabib Hospital, Tanjungpinang for 3 days on October 31 to November 2, 2024. Data were obtained from interviews, observations, physical examinations, supporting examinations, and documentation studies. The results of the study showed that the measurement of pain intensity on the first day was 6, after being given effluarge massage on the second day it decreased to 4 and on the third day it became 2. This shows that effluarge massage has a significant effect in reducing the intensity of prenieum wound pain. It is expected that nurses can carry out effluarge massage therapy to reduce the intensity of prenieum wound pain in postpartum mothers.

Abstract

The occurrence of gouty arthritis in the joints can be very disruptive to daily activities. These effects include severe joint pain/ache, inflammation, redness, and a warm sensation in the affected area. In addition, gouty arthritis can also cause long-term complications such as joint damage, tophi (lumps of uric acid crystals under the skin), kidney stones, and even kidney failure if left untreated. To overcome the problem of pain can be done pharmacologically and non-pharmacologically. Non-pharmacologically, namely with warm compresses of red ginger. This scientific work aims to provide comprehensive nursing care to clients with acute pain disorders and the application of warm red ginger compresses. This research uses descriptive observational methods in the form of case studies. The subject in this case is Mr. E who is 72 years old with Gout Arthritis at Rumah Bahagia Embung Fatimah Social Service of Tanjungpinang City.
