Abstract

Background: The main ingredients of effervescent tablet formula are acids and bases which will produce CO2 and give a foamy bubble effect when mixed with water. The formulation requires an optimal acid-base composition to obtain tablets with good quality. This study aims to determine the formulation of effervescent tablets from the various plant’s extract with variations in acid and base based on a literature review. Methods: This research is a journal review conducted by analyzing journals to determine the formulation of the leaf form. using the PRISMA method. Journals obtained with the keywords “Formulation Effervescent Tablet” AND “Tablet Effervescent” AND “Formulation Effervescent Tablet with Variation Acid Base”. The journals selected are journals published in the last 10 years (2011-2021), full text and attaching formulas with variations in acid base along with the results of physical stability tests for granules and tablets. The databases used are Google Scholar, Scopus and Science Direct. There are 5 journals that meet the inclusion criteria. Results: The plant extract can be formulated into effervescent tablets using the wet granulation method, with a tablet weight of 1-2 grams. Conclusion: Citric acid and sodium bicarbonate can be chosen as reactants of acid and base with a ratio of 1: 3,11. The total acid and base used in the formulation was 55% of the total weight of the tablet.

Abstract

Background: The increasing elderly population poses its own challenges, particularly in the field of health. The elderly tend to experience degenerative diseases and often have multiple chronic conditions. This can lead to the use of multiple medications (polypharmacy). Drug interactions occur when one medication affects the activity of another. These interactions can be pharmacokinetic or pharmacodynamic. The Beers Criteria is a tool used to detect Potentially Inappropriate Medications (PIMs) and identify drugs that may pose greater risks than benefits for elderly patients aged ≥ 65 years. Methods: This research uses descriptive method and is an observational study with a cross-sectional approach, measuring variables by collecting data through patient geriatric questionnaire. It aims to evaluate medication use in geriatric patients who may have drug interactions at Cilacap Regional General Hospital. Results: This research shows that female patients are more numerous, with 53 individuals (53.53%), while male patients amount to 46 individuals (46.46%). Patients in the age range of 60-74 years are 94 individuals (94.94%), and those in the age range of 75-90 years are 50 individuals (5.05%). Patients receiving <5 medication therapy are 57 individuals (57.57%), while those receiving >5 medications are 42 individuals (42.42%). The most commonly used medication among geriatric patients is candesartan, with 46 prescriptions (9.82%). The research results indicate that the medications falling under Potentially Inappropriate Medications (PIMs) according to the 2023 Beers criteria are mostly in category 1, totaling 81 medications (50.63%). Conclusion: The occurrence of Potentially Inappropriate Medications (PIMs) in geriatric patients at the outpatient department of Cilacap Regional General Hospital during the period of July-August 2024, based on the Beers Criteria 2023, shows that the largest percentage is attributed to glimepiride with 25 cases (17.606%). This indicates that prescribing PIMs to geriatric patients still involves potentially inappropriate drugs, necessitating attention from healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective prescribing for this population.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a condition in which systolic blood pressure exceeds 140 mmHg and diastolic more than 90 mmHg. Indicators that can cause hypertension are emotional and mental conditions, which affect a person's stress levels. To manage hypertension, a step that can be taken is self-meditation, one of which is by performing tahajud prayer (qiyamullail). Tahajud prayer is believed to help reduce stress and play a role in lowering blood pressure. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of tahajud prayer (qiyamullail) on lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients at the Puskesmas Tlogosari Kulon. Methods: This study adopted a quantitative method with a cross-sectional research design, where data were collected using a questionnaire. Samples were taken by simple random selection, involving 32 participants, and data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis. Results: Based on the results of the correlation test using spearman correlation in the table above, the frequency affects systolic changes with the value of sig. 0.007 which means that it has a moderate relationship because the sig value is <0.05. The relationship between understanding and systolic and diastolic changes and frequency with diastolic changes is said to have no significant relationship because the sig value is >0.05. Conclusion: Frequency affects systolic changes significantly, which can be seen from the results of the sociifikan value obtained from the Asymp value. Sig < 0.05 which is 0.007.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is one of the categories of Non Communicable Disease that has a high morbidity and mortality rate every year and is commonly experienced by those in the productive age group. Hypertension generally occurs without symptoms, which is why it is categorized as The Silent Killer or The Silent Disease. According to Riskesdas data (2018), hypertension cases in Indonesia account for 37% with a total death toll of 427,218 cases. The prevalences of hypertension in Central Java is at 37.57%. In Semarang City, the prevalence ranks first, with cases reaching 19.56%. Miroto Health Center is ranked 17th in hypertension cases among 37 districts in Semarang City, with 5,050 cases recorded in the 2022 NCD recap data of the health centers in the city. Factors that contribute to uncontrolled blood pressure in hypertension include age, educational background, lifestyle, medication adherence, and blood pressure control. Based on research by Laili et al., (2022), it was found 32.3% of hypertension patients didn’t routinely take their medication, which is part of 34.1% of hypertension sufferers.
