Abstract

The Kaago-ago tradition is a tradition carried out before the change of seasons which is held twice a year and plays a role in preventing disease. The purpose of this study was to describe its existence and analyze the development of the Kaago-ago Tradition in Wakorambu Village, Batalaiworu District, Muna Regency. The results of this study indicate that the background of the Kaago-ago tradition in the Muna community is a spirit who lives in two places, namely in the west and east. According to the local people's belief that every time there will be a change in the west season or east season, all kinds of diseases caused by the actions of spirits appear so that the Kaago-ago tradition is carried out as a ritual to prevent disease from entering the community. The development of the Kaago-ago tradition can be seen from the place where it was implemented, which used to be in the middle of Wakorambu village, but now it is held in the mosque. The effort to maintain the Kaago-ago tradition is by routinely carrying out the Kaago-ago tradition every year, involving the entire local community and studying the Kaago-ago tradition so as not to forget it.

Abstract

Kafosulino katulu in the traditional wedding procession in the Muna community is a series of activities where the newlyweds return to the woman's parents' house. The objectives of this study were (1) to determine the process of implementing Kafosulino katulu in Parigi Village (2) to find out the functions contained in Kafosulino katulu in Parigi Village. (3) To find out the inheritance pattern of Kafosulino katulu in the Parigi Village community. Research Benefits. The results showed that in the process of implementing the Kafosulino Katulu tradition there were forms of presentation, namely 1) the process of washing feet 2) The process of wearing gloves 3) Kasambu. The process of implementing Kafosulino Katulu is carried out at the final stage of the wedding ceremony. In the pattern of inheritance of the Kafosulino Katulu tradition, namely through family inheritance, direct inheritance and inheritance in performances.

Abstract

Pembuatan gula merah memang banyak dilakukan oleh masyarakat namun berbeda halnya dengan masyarakat muna. Campuran dalam pembuatan gula dilakukan dengan caranya sendiri sehingga hasilnya memiliki kekhasan dan enak. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tentang pengetahuan tradisional masyarakat Muna dalam proses pengolahan golano kowala. Untuk menjelaskan makna yang terdapat dalam pengetahuan tradisonal masyarakat Muna tentang pengolahan golano kowala. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Hasil penelitiam menunjukan bahwa Pengetahuan tradisional masyarakat Muna tentan pengolahan golano kowala di yang di lakukan di Desa Kampani Kecamatan Wadaga Kabupaten Muna Barat dimana dalam pengolahan golano kowala ada beberapa proses yakni proses pengambilan air enau, proses pemasakan pertama yang di lakukan oleh pelaku pembuatan gula aren, dan tahap pemasakan kedua adalah gabungan air nira yang di masak pertama dengan yang kedua pada saat proses pembentukan gula aren; serta Proses pengadukan untuk menjaga agar uapan dari air nira yang di masak tidak tumpah, terakhir Proses pencetakan dalam pengolahan golano kowala.

Abstract

The Barzanji tradition is a custom or ritual that must be carried out at every celebration so that it still survives today. This study aims to understand the pattern of inheritance and examine the meaning contained in the tradition. This type of research is a qualitative research whose data is obtained from the results of observations, interviews, and documentation and uses the theory of semiotics. The results of this study indicate that the process of implementing the Barzanji tradition consists of several stages, namely preparation, implementation and the final stage. The Barzanji tradition is understood by the Bugis people as a good tradition to maintain its existence. This is because in its implementation it provides benefits for their lives and as an expression of gratitude, grounding shalawat, and as a forum for Islam.

Abstract

The Kabasano Sumanga tradition is a tradition used by the Muna community to pray for the souls of deceased family members to rest in peace and not disturb the living family. The aim of this study is to identify the process, functions, and factors that affect the change in the Kabasano Sumanga tradition among the Muna community. The method used in this study is qualitative, by collecting data through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review, then analyzing the data. The results of the study show that the process of implementing the Kabasano Sumanga tradition begins with visiting the grave and haroa. The implementation of Kabasano Sumanga has personal, social, and religious functions. Factors that can affect changes in the Kabasano Sumanga tradition include population migration, economy, education, and understanding factors.

Abstract

The tradition of kasaraka is a tradition practiced by the ethnic group of Muna when they are about to harvest corn, however, its implementation has been decreasing. This research aims to describe the process of the kasaraka tradition and analyze the meanings contained in the implementation of the kasaraka tradition among the ethnic Muna. The theory used in this research is Roland Barthes' semiotics theory using descriptive qualitative research method. The results of the research show that the process of the kasaraka tradition consists of three stages: preparation stage, implementation stage, and final stage. The meanings contained in the kasaraka tradition are viewed from the process and tools used in the kasaraka tradition.

Abstract

The Kaefoilaha Ndoke ritual is a ritual carried out in a garden that has been planted with various kinds of plants which are the source of the community's survival, but now it is starting to be abandoned. This study aims to describe the implementation process, function and to analyze the meaning contained in the Kaefoilaha Ndoke ritual in the garden. The method in this research is descriptive qualitative. The results showed that there are three implementation processes, namely, the preparation stage of tools and materials, the implementation stage such as cutting and splitting ginger, wrapping ginger using corn husks, kaefoilaha ndoke, and planting ginger. The three final stages are: storing water bottles in the kafematai and sprinkling them around the garden. There are three functions of the kaefoilaha ndoke ritual, namely preservation, religion, and the function as a lifeline.

Abstract

The phenomenon of the study of falia is important to investigate because it contains several values of local wisdom in a society, therefore the purpose of this research is to identify the form of falia for pregnant women and to describe the meaning and function of falia for pregnant women in Loghyia Village, Muna Regency. The method used is qualitative research method. The informants in the research consist of traditional leaders, community leaders, and traditional birth attendants (bhisa). The results of this research indicate that the oral tradition of falia for pregnant women is still maintained. The form of falia for pregnant women includes falia in the form of words or speech and falia in the form of actions. The meaning of falia for pregnant women is love, cultural and traditional social values, discipline, and health meanings. Meanwhile, the main function of falia is education, order, and behavior control

Abstract

The study was conducted in the village of Darawa, South Kaledupa District, Wakatobi Regency with the aim of describing the process of performing the tuko belai ritual (placement of the king's pole) in the village of Darawa, South Kaledupa District, Wakatobi Regency and explaining the symbolic meanings contained in it. The research method used was qualitative with the determination of informants using snowball sampling, then data was obtained through observation, interviews, and communication and then analyzed. The results of this research showed that the process of performing the tuko belai ritual consists of the initial stage, implementation, and final stage. The tuko belai ritual has the meaning of avoiding evil spirits or supernatural creatures that can disturb the life of the inhabitants of the house later, as a repeller of misfortune (Bala'a), a prayer for safety (doa selamat), blessed with health, blessed with prosperity, and given a long life.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the cuisine served and to understand the meaning contained in the cuisine tradition of Pisaba'a in the Binongko ethnic group. The method used in this research is field research, where data collection is done using observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The data obtained was analyzed descriptively using qualitative methods with Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotic theory. The results of the research showed that the cuisine in the Pisaba'a tradition consists of mandatory cuisine and additional cuisine. The cuisine in the Pisaba'a tradition has meanings about human life.
