Abstract

Along with the development of Science and Technology (IPTEK), current educators and students need to improve the quality of education to be able to compete. Therefore, learning media is needed that can increase understanding by using interactive power points . The research aims to test the effectiveness of using powerpoint learning media on chemical bond material to improve the learning outcomes of class X students at SMA 14 Padang City. This research method uses experimental research with a Nonequivalent Control-Group Design research design . The population in this study were all students in class X Science at SMA 14 Padang City, consisting of 5 classes in the even semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. The sampling technique was carried out using the purposive sampling method . The research instrument is a multiple choice test that has been tested for validity, reliability, question discrimination and a good difficulty index. Data were analyzed using the n-gain test and hypothesis testing with the independent sample t-test . The results of data analysis show that the experimental class has a higher n-gain compared to the control class in the medium category. Apart from that, the results of the hypothesis test show a significance value (sig) of less than 0.05, so H 1 is accepted and H 0 is rejected. From the results of this data analysis, it can be concluded that the use of interactive Powerpoint learning media on chemical bond material is effective in improving high school/MA student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Student-centered learning significantly influences students' learning and thinking abilities. However, in practice, many teachers still use conventional teaching methods, such as lectures, to deliver material. Conventional teaching is often chosen because it can quickly convey information and is easy to implement in the learning process. Learning activities are a process for students to enhance their abilities and skills. One of the essential skills students need to develop is critical thinking. This skill can foster cognitive aspects and improve students' problem-solving abilities. Critical thinking skills can be trained during learning activities. This study aims to determine students' critical thinking skills in conventional learning on hydrocarbon combustion. The research employs a descriptive quantitative method with a test instrument in the form of essay questions. Ennis's critical thinking aspects measure students' critical thinking skills. Ennis's critical thinking aspects consist of 5 aspects encompassing 12 indicators. The results of the study show that students' critical thinking skills in conventional learning are categorized as low with 52.80%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the implementation of computation through the experimental test method on the skills of students majoring in Tadris Biology UIN Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan 3rd semester. This type of research is experimental research with a pretest-posttest control group design. Sampling was carried out using cluster random sampling technique. The population in this study were students of Tadris Biology at Uin Shahada Padangsidimpuan, with a sample of Tadris Biology students at UIN Syahada (experimental class) and Tadris Biology students at Uin Shahada Padangsidimpuan Semester 3 (control class). The instrument used was a process skill test in the form of reasoned multiple choice which was first tested for validity, reliability. The results of the pretest homogeneity test showed the initial ability of the experimental class and homogeneous control, so that the effect of the treatment was the result of the posttest. So, it can be concluded that there is an effect of computer-based learning through experimental methods on the influence of the implementation of computing in basic courses on students of Tadris Biology at Uin Shahada Padangsidimpuan.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' understanding of the material on the periodic system of elements through OK KETUK learning media. OK KETUK is a learning medium for the periodic system of elements that combines element cards and the periodic table. This medium is played by shuffling the cards, determining the electron configuration, period, and group of elements on the front of the card, doing problems on the back of the card, and placing the elements on the periodic table. This research is classroom action research conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The research subjects were students of class X IPA 1 SMA Santo Yakobus Jakarta for the academic year 2019/2020, with 24 students, consisting of 12 male and 12 female students. The instruments used in this study consisted of learning outcomes tests, teacher and student activity observation sheets, interviews, and field notes. The results showed that OK KETUK learning media could improve students' understanding of the material on the periodic system of elements. The average score increased from 64.79 with 37.50% learning completeness in the first cycle to 83.44 with 91.67% learning completeness in the second cycle at KKM 70.00. Based on the results of the study, the use of OK KETUK learning media can improve students' understanding of the material for the periodic system of elements.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the feasibility of research instruments through the validity and reliability of test and non-test instruments on chemical bonding materials. The instruments tested were in the form of multiple-choice questions, and the non-test instruments were in the form of questionnaires. Validity and reliability testing aims to determine the suitability of the test instrument. The test instruments aim to measure learning outcomes, and the non-test instruments aim to measure students' motivation for chemical bonding material. Validity and reliability testing of the test instrument was carried out by testing content validity with expert validators and small-scale field trials with students in class XI Science 1 at SMA Negeri 14 Medan. Non-test instrument testing was carried out through content validation tests on three expert validators. The research results showed that of the 40 questions, there were 28 valid questions, and the reliability test obtained r-11 = 0.85 and was included in the high reliability category. At the difficulty level of the questions, the number of questions in the difficult category was 5; 24 in the medium category; and 11 in the easy category. Then, regarding the differentiating power of questions in the good category, the number obtained was 25, and in the bad category, the number obtained was 15. The percentage of eligibility for non-test instruments obtained was 90%, which is a feasible criterion.

Abstract

Plastic is a widely used packaging material, but has a negative impact on the environment because it is difficult to decompose in nature. Many experts have developed technologies for the production of biodegradable plastics orbioplastics made from natural and environmentally friendly materials. Starch-based biodegradable plastics are easier to produce and access to raw materials is easier to obtain. So in this research an experiment was carried out using cornstarch as a base ingredient for making bioplastics. Examined with quantitative methods through experiments obtained results of comparisons of differences in water concentrations and differences in glycerin concentrations. Then a mechanical test was carried out to see the ability to decompose bioplastics with water. After conducting research on the use of bioplastics from cornstarch as asubstitute for plastic, it can be concluded that the best bioplastic produced is at a Glycerin Concentration of 5 mL and a Water Concentration of 100 ml.
