Abstract

Conventional learning models in learning activities is one of the factors causing critical thinking skills of students at SMA N 15 Semarang become low. Therefore, an interactive learning model is needed to develop students' critical thinking skills. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of Self Organized Learning Environment (SOLE) model towards students' critical thinking skills. This research used the pretest-posttest control group design. Sampling technique used random sampling and data collection techniques using observation, interviews and tests. The test instrument was made using indicators of critical thinking skills according to Ennis. The data analysis technique used the N-Gain Score Test and the Independent Sample t-test. The t-test score results 0.000 0.05 meaning that Ha is accepted and the SOLE model has effect towards students' critical thinking skills. The critical thinking skills of students based on n-gain value is also shown improved. The experimental class got 0.71 with high criteria, while the control class got a value of 0.48 with medium criteria.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the application of the REACT strategy as an innovative approach in improving student chemistry learning outcomes. This research was carried out at MAN 2 Padang Lawas in the Even semester of FY 2023/2024. The population in this study were all students in class X MIA with an average number of students per class of 30 people. The sample consisted of 2 classes taken with determination because the number of class X MIA was only 2 classes. The experimental class applies the REACT strategy as an innovative approach, and the control class applies conventional learning. The data collected is processed from the Posttest results. The data were analysed using the independent t-test formula to test the research hypothesis and obtained tcount  ttable (4.67 1.67), so it can be concluded that the application of the REACT strategy as an innovative approach can improve student chemistry learning outcomes. Meanwhile, the gain test for the increase in learning outcomes for the experimental class was 72.60% in the high category, and the control class was 58.50% in the medium category. It can be concluded that the application of the REACT strategy as an innovative approach can improve students' chemistry learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement in student learning outcomes by applying innovative teaching materials based on Problem-Based Learning, and to analyse the relationship between student characteristics and chemistry learning outcomes using teaching materials based on Problem-Based Learning. The study was conducted on 72 Grade X vocational high school students using an experimental method with a control class and an experimental class. The results showed a significant improvement in learning outcomes in the experimental class (73%) compared to the control class (69%). There was a significant relationship between characteristics such as curiosity, independence, discipline, hard work, and honesty with improved chemistry learning outcomes on the topics of element symbols and chemical equations.

Abstract

This research explores the use of gamification in chemistry education by incorporating puzzles into the study of the Periodic System of Elements. Gamification, which integrates game-like elements into non-gaming contexts, aims to boost students' motivation and improve their academic performance. In chemistry learning, gamification can transform the educational experience into a more engaging and stimulating one, particularly for challenging subjects like the Periodic System of Elements. Puzzles serve as a gamification tool that can enhance students' interest and facilitate a better understanding of complex chemistry concepts through interactive engagement. The study utilizes a literature review approach to gather and analyze various relevant articles, revealing that puzzle-based learning can enhance student participation, alleviate anxiety, and promote teamwork. The results suggest that employing gamification through puzzles not only deepens students' comprehension of fundamental chemical principles but also cultivates a favorable attitude towards learning chemistry. Consequently, the use of puzzles in gamification is recommended as a valuable and enjoyable educational strategy.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the results of the validation test and describe the appearance of the chemical literacy-oriented Speed Cruiser multimedia on the developed reaction rate material. The novelty aspect of this research lies in the delivery of chemical content in the multimedia developed, not only discussing chemical concepts thoroughly, but also integrating the four aspects of chemical literacy, namely content, context, scientific process, and scientific attitude, in one application that can be accessed through various devices. This research uses the Design-Based Research (DBR) method with the stages of analysis, design, and development. The types of data used are quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data was obtained through validation tests and feasibility tests. The validation test was carried out by material experts and media experts, while the feasibility test was carried out by high school students in class XI IPA who participated in IT extracurricular activities. The qualitative data is obtained from suggestions for improvement from validators and respondents. The validation test results for this study obtained an average rcount of 0.89 for all aspects, and the percentage of feasibility test results obtained a value of 86%. This shows that the Speed Cruiser multimedia is declared valid and feasible to use in learning.

Abstract

Since students are given the chance to participate directly in their education, project-based learning can enhance their learning results in chemistry, a subject that is considered challenging. Determining the impact of the PjBL model on student learning outcomes for colloidal material is the goal of this study. This study's approach is a quasi-experiment. Two classes—XI IPA 1 and XI IPA 2—that were chosen through purposive sampling made up the research sample. The instrument used in this study is a valid and reliable multiple-choice test of colloidal material. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the average posttest score for the project-based learning model differs from that of the traditional learning model. According to the posttest results, the experimental class's average score was higher—86.27—than the control class's, which was 76.73. Thus, it can be said that the project-based learning methodology has an impact on students' learning outcomes when it comes to colloidal content.
