Abstract

West Java Province has a high risk of disasters due to complex geological conditions, population density, and rapid urbanisation. These conditions require a paradigm shift from reactive mitigation strategies to proactive and integrated ones. This study aims to analyse the integration between vocational education in disaster management and multi-stakeholder collaboration as a strategic effort to strengthen the disaster mitigation system in West Java. Using a qualitative-descriptive method through literature review and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with relevant stakeholders, this study examines the roles and synergies within the Pentahelix model framework. Research findings indicate that vocational education in disaster management, with a practice-based learning approach (learning by doing), plays a strategic role in producing technically competent and adaptive human resources. On the other hand, the Pentahelix collaboration model, which involves the government, academics, the business world, communities, and the media, creates a comprehensive and inclusive mitigation ecosystem. The integration of these two aspects facilitates the transfer of field knowledge, scientific-policy collaboration, and increased collective awareness. This synergy produces an adaptive resilience ecosystem that bridges academic science, field practice, and community empowerment. This study concludes that strengthening cross-sector coordination, expanding the implementation of applied research, directing CSR towards mitigation activities, and optimising the media as an educational channel are key to realising a sustainable and collaborative disaster mitigation model in West Java.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of learning methods and teaching media on the learning motivation of Business Education students, class of 2023, at Surabaya State University in the Mathematics and Economics course. The background of this study is the decline in student learning motivation after the COVID-19 pandemic, where 48% of students in Indonesia have low learning motivation. This study uses a quantitative approach with a multiple linear regression method. The study population was all 145 Business Education students, class of 2023, with a sample of 106 students selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire with a Likert scale (1-5). The results showed that learning methods partially did not have a significant effect on student learning motivation (T count 0.894 < T table 1.659; sig. 0.373 > 0.05). In contrast, teaching media had a significant effect on student learning motivation (T count 5.077 > T table 1.659; sig. 0.000 < 0.05). Simultaneous tests show that learning methods and teaching media together have a significant effect on student learning motivation (F count 35.345 > F table 3.08; sig. 0.000 < 0.05). This study provides important implications for the development of more effective learning strategies, especially in optimizing the use of teaching media to increase student learning motivation in the digital era. It is recommended that lecturers pay more attention to the variety and creativity of learning media used in the Mathematics Economics lecture process.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the cooperative economics learning process on the cooperative interest of students in the Economics Education Study Program at Makassar State University. Cooperative economics learning is considered important to improve students' understanding of cooperatives as an economic model based on collectivity and sustainability. However, despite the many benefits of cooperatives, many students are less interested or even unaware of their importance. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation to explore students' perceptions of cooperatives and the influence of cooperative learning on their interest. The results showed that a learning process that integrates theory and practice can increase students' interest in joining and participating in cooperatives. Students who are directly involved in cooperative activities show a better understanding of cooperative principles and their benefits. However, many students still desire more practical experience and direct involvement in cooperative management. Therefore, it is recommended to increase practical activities and implement more engaging learning methods to increase students' interest and readiness to become involved in cooperatives.

Abstract

The quality of education in Indonesia remains a major challenge, with school leadership playing a crucial role in determining educational success. This study explores the personality profiles of effective school principals in junior high schools in South Sulawesi based on teachers’ perspectives. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, data were gathered through teacher evaluations to identify key personality dimensions such as extraversion, agreeableness, emotional stability, and openness. The findings reveal that agreeableness, emotional stability, and openness are the most dominant traits associated with effective principals. Principals who are open to new ideas, emotionally balanced, and empathetic toward teachers are perceived to create positive school climates and enhance teacher motivation. These results suggest that personality characteristics significantly influence leadership effectiveness and school performance. The study recommends that personality assessment be integrated into principal recruitment and professional development to improve leadership quality and educational outcomes in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relevance of academic achievement to the development of students’ potential and success in elementary schools from the perspective of authentic assessment. The background of this research lies in the continued dominance of academic grades as the main indicator of learning success, while the dimensions of process, creativity, and student character are often overlooked. The research gap stems from the lack of qualitative studies that explore the meaning, experiences, and processes of developing students’ potential through authentic assessment within the context of Indonesian elementary education. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a systematic literature review of scholarly articles published between 2020 and 2025 from the Scopus, SINTA, and Google Scholar databases. Data were collected through the analysis of academic documents, educational policies, and research reports, and analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The analysis identified four main themes: (1) a paradigm shift in assessment toward process-based evaluation, (2) the role of authentic assessment in developing students’ potential and motivation, (3) challenges in implementing authentic assessment at the elementary school level, and (4) the interconnection between academic achievement, character, and 21st-century skills. The findings indicate that authentic assessment not only enhances conceptual understanding but also fosters students’ sense of responsibility, creativity, and self-confidence. The implications of this research include the strengthening of constructivist theory in educational assessment, improving teacher competence, and formulating more holistic and humanistic assessment policies within the framework of Merdeka Belajar.

Abstract

This study analyzed the profiles of students’ concept mastery and scientific literacy on the topic of reduction-oxidation (redox) reactions in three senior high schools in North Gorontalo, Indonesia. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving written tests and interviews with 12th-grade students at SMAN 1, SMAN 3, and SMAN 6 North Gorontalo. The test instruments were designed based on the revised Bloom’s Taxonomy cognitive levels (C1–C6) and Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) scientific literacy dimensions (context, content, competence, attitude). Results indicate that students have moderate overall concept mastery, with highest performance on lower-order cognitive skills remembering (C1) and understanding (C2) but substantially lower performance on higher-order skills such as applying (C3), analyzing (C4), evaluating (C5), and creating (C6). In terms of scientific literacy, students performed best in the content knowledge dimension, while showing weaknesses in scientific attitudes. Specifically, around 59% of students could recall basic facts (C1), but only ~35% could tackle creation-based tasks (C6). Likewise, over 54% demonstrated understanding of scientific content, yet less than 47% exhibited strong scientific competencies or attitudes. These findings suggest that current teaching practices heavily emphasize rote learning of content, leading to decent factual knowledge but insufficient higher-order thinking and lack of engagement with science in real-life contexts. The study highlights the need for instructional innovations such as inquiry-based, problem-based, and context-oriented learning to strengthen students’ conceptual understanding at all cognitive levels and to foster scientific skills and attitudes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the direct influence of Entrepreneurship Training and Entrepreneurship Education on Entrepreneurial Motivation, and to examine the mediating role of Entrepreneurial Intention in this relationship among high school students in Mojokerto City. The research employed a quantitative approach with a causal associative design. Data were collected from 344 student respondents and analyzed using the Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. The findings indicate that both Education and Training have a strong, positive, and significant influence on both Entrepreneurial Motivation and Entrepreneurial Intention. Entrepreneurial Intention was also found to positively and significantly influence Entrepreneurial Motivation. However, a key finding revealed a paradoxical mediation path: Entrepreneurial Intention negatively and significantly mediates the influence of Entrepreneurship Training (Indirect Coefficient: -0.196; p-value: 0.001) and Entrepreneurship Education (Indirect Coefficient: -0.189; p-value: 0.001) on Entrepreneurial Motivation. The study concludes that although education and training are effective in fostering strong intention, this intention does not always successfully translate into sustained entrepreneurial motivation. Strengthening the entrepreneurship ecosystem outside the classroom, such as continuous mentoring programs and adequate practical facilities, is necessary to ensure the formed intention develops into a solid motivation for action.
