Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the cognitive conflict approach assisted by PhET Interactive Simulations on the critical thinking ability of elementary education students. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest–posttest control group design. The research subjects consisted of 50 fifth-grade students from SD Negeri 61 Palongki, who were divided into two groups: an experimental class and a control class, each comprising 25 students. The research instrument was an essay-type critical thinking test developed based on the five indicators proposed by Ennis (1985). The results revealed a significant difference between the critical thinking abilities of students in the experimental and control groups, with a t value of 4.85 and p < 0.05. The average N-Gain score of the experimental group was 0.67 (moderate–high category), which was higher than that of the control group at 0.34 (moderate category). The effect size (Cohen’s d) value of 0.92 indicated a strong influence of the cognitive conflict approach assisted by PhET Interactive Simulations. These findings confirm that the integration of the cognitive conflict approach with interactive simulation media can effectively foster students’ critical thinking skills through a process of conceptual restructuring and reflection-based learning experiences.

Abstract

Infiltration, the process by which water enters the soil, plays a crucial role in water availability and fertilization efficiency. This study aimed to determine the effect of organic fertilizer in chicken and cow manures on soil infiltration in long bean cultivation. This research was conducted in Tunggulo Village, Tilongkabila Sub- District, Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo Province, from February to April 2025. This study employed a Randomized Block Design with five treatment levels and three repetitions. Infiltration was measured using a double-ring infiltrometer and analyzed using Horton’s model. Based on the analysis, the fertilizer-free treatment (P0) exhibited the highest infiltration capacity with an infiltration rate of 63.37 mm hour-1 and was considered fast according to the Kohnke infiltration classification. Meanwhile, the lowest infiltration capacity was found in the treatment of organic fertilizer in chicken manure with a dose of 10 tons ha-1 (P1), with an infiltration rate of 18.20 mm hour-1 (rather slow). Linear regression analysis revealed a negative relationship between constant infiltration and production, where the constant infiltration factor accounted for only 47.36% of the variation in long bean production, suggesting that excessive infiltration can lead to nutrient leaching from the root zone. The results of the analysis showed that the treatment of organic fertilizer did not have a significant effect on the capacity and rate of infiltration. Based on Horton’s model, the highest infiltration capacity was found in the treatment without fertilizer, followed by the treatment with organic fertilizer from chicken manure at a dose of 20 tons ha-1, and the lowest at a dose of 10 tons ha-1 of cow manure.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the difference in the volume of broiler chicken sales before and after halal certification at the Alhijrah Kendari Chicken Slaughterhouse (RPA). Halal certification is a crucial factor that influences consumer trust and purchasing decisions, especially in a predominantly Muslim community. The research employs a quantitative approach using paired t-test analysis to compare the sales data of broiler chickens before and after certification was obtained. The findings indicate a significant increase in the sales volume of broiler chickens following the halal certification, with a notable surge of 2-3 times during major religious holidays, such as Eid. This increase highlights the positive impact of halal certification on consumer behavior, as it assures them of the product's quality and compliance with religious standards. The results of this study provide valuable insights for business owners and stakeholders in the poultry industry, emphasizing the potential benefits of obtaining halal certification to boost sales and consumer trust in the market

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of entrepreneurial intention of Vocational High School (SMK) students in South Sulawesi Province. Entrepreneurial intentions are an important indicator in measuring students' readiness and interest in entrepreneurship as one of the alternative career options after graduation. This research is motivated by the importance of entrepreneurship education in vocational schools in supporting the creation of new jobs and reducing the unemployment rate among vocational education graduates. The research method used is a descriptive quantitative approach. The sampling technique was carried out using multistage sampling through three stages, namely: (1) determination of the population of all state vocational schools in 24 districts/cities in South Sulawesi, (2) random selection of two districts/cities, namely Makassar City and Gowa Regency, and (3) purposively selection of each of three vocational schools based on the school's involvement in entrepreneurial activities through the School Production Unit (UPS). The number of respondents in this study was 275 students. Data was collected using a questionnaire instrument that measures the dimensions of entrepreneurial intention, including entrepreneurial interest, motivation, and readiness to start a business. Data analysis was carried out descriptively using frequency distribution. The results of the study show that the level of entrepreneurial intention of vocational school students in South Sulawesi Province is relatively high, with the majority of students showing a strong desire to be entrepreneurial after completing their education. No students were found in the low or very low category of entrepreneurial intentions. These findings indicate that entrepreneurship education in vocational schools, especially through entrepreneurial practice activities within UPS, has contributed positively to building an independent mindset, risk-taking courage, and students' confidence to become young entrepreneurs. This research makes a theoretical contribution to the development of literature on entrepreneurship education in the context of vocational education, as well as a practical contribution for education policymakers in designing learning programs that are oriented towards strengthening students' entrepreneurial spirit

Abstract

The increasing number of reports filed by parents against teachers for alleged acts of violence toward students reflects a shifting value system and evolving power relations in Indonesia’s educational landscape. This issue transcends professional ethics and legal considerations, representing a broader social transformation influenced by public opinion in digital media. This study analyzes the roles of teachers, parents, and netizens in shaping a nonviolent education paradigm and examines how online discourse reconstructs authority within education. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this research employs digital discourse analysis and targeted literature review of academic works, education policies, and social media posts (Twitter, Facebook, TikTok) published between 2020 and 2025. Data were thematically analyzed through the frameworks of Carl Rogers’s humanistic education theory and Paulo Freire’s critical pedagogy. The findings reveal three major themes: (1) the transformation of teacher–student relations toward empathy-based, nonviolent communication; (2) social media as a moral and ideological battleground redefining discipline and child protection; and (3) inconsistencies between child-friendly education policies and their practical implementation in schools. The study concludes that nonviolent education is not merely a normative ideal but a social process requiring a collective mindset shift, the integration of humanistic values into the curriculum, and the strengthening of ethical digital literacy across society. Its main contribution lies in integrating humanistic–critical pedagogical theories within Indonesia’s digital context, offering a triadic model of collaboration among teachers, parents, and the online public to build a peaceful and reflective education culture.

Abstract

This research examines the influence of lithological characteristics on landslide susceptibility in Tegalwaru District, Purwakarta Regency. The area is predominantly composed of claystone formations from the Jatiluhur Formation, which exhibits impermeable and porous properties. During high-intensity rainfall events, water infiltration becomes limited, resulting in rapid saturation of the surface layer. These conditions trigger soil softening and reduce slope stability in areas characterized by steep to very steep terrain gradients. Additionally, weathered volcanic fragments of andesite and diorite that comprise this region undergo intensive weathering processes, forming joint systems and boulders that are susceptible to movement. These lithological factors are further aggravated by high precipitation and anthropogenic activities, which collectively influence slope stability. This research emphasizes the critical importance of understanding lithological characteristics for effective landslide risk mitigation and disaster management planning.

Abstract

The implementation of the ‘Freedom to Learn Curriculum’ in higher education can serve as a catalyst for the nation’s future advancement, yet how to realize this potential remains a critical question. This study implements an integrated Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model to enhance students’ ability to solve economic and business problems across time. The research integrates several stages: identifying root problems, theoretical and applied reviews, analyzing government policies in practice, assessing impacts, and developing future problem-solving programs. This research aims to examine the effect of the problem-solving learning model on improving students’ ability to address economic problems, focusing on strengthening self-identity and enhancing both group and individual work abilities. The research design employed a pre-experimental approach, starting with problem identification, theoretical foundation development, field exploration, analysis of supporting policies, and identification of potential impacts for the future. The subjects were 118 students enrolled in the Introduction to Economic Theory course at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Negeri Malang. Data on improvements in problem-solving ability, operational skills, individual work changes, and teamwork-based problem-solving capabilities were processed using SPSS-23 through ANCOVA with regression analysis. Meanwhile, improvements in problem management and opportunity recognition in economic activities were analyzed using SWOT through group work mechanisms. The process emphasized optimizing accessibility to problem-based activities and varying fieldwork and practical exercises for managing progressive life challenges. The results showed that based on the ANCOVA statistical analysis, the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model had a significant effect on students’ ability to develop alternative solutions, particularly through teamwork. In the Tests of Between-Subjects Effects model involving two independent variables—CVMT (PBL-based treatment) and TI (individual task category)—the overall model was significant, with a Sig. value of 0.008. This indicates that the combination of PBL treatment and variations in individual assignments jointly influenced students’ group task outcomes. The individual task variable (TI) significantly affected group performance with a significance value of 0.049 and a Partial Eta Squared value of 0.137, indicating a moderate contribution. This means that the type or quality of individual tasks completed by students has a tangible impact on group work success. Descriptive Statistics results showed that the highest average group task scores came from students with individual task categories at scores of 85 (mean = 86.21) and 88 (mean = 86.00), indicating that students with strong individual performance tended to demonstrate better group outcomes. Conversely, groups with lower individual scores (TI = 75) also had lower group performance (mean = 74.65). This supports the assumption that success in group work originates from solid individual contributions. From the Parameter Estimates results, a significant difference was specifically found between the TI = 75 group and the reference group (TI = 90) with p = 0.032, showing that students with lower individual performance exhibited a statistically significant difference in group outcomes

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and examine the effectiveness of a psychoeducational guidance service package designed to enhance elementary students’ learning motivation. Using a Research and Development approach with the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate), the product was constructed based on a needs analysis, validated by content and media experts, and tested through small-group and limited field trials. A quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design was employed to measure effectiveness, involving 44 students in the experimental group and 38 students in the control group from two public elementary schools in Parepare City, Indonesia. Data were collected using expert validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and a motivation scale, and analyzed with descriptive statistics and inferential tests. The results demonstrated that the developed psychoeducational package met the criteria of validity and practicality and was proven effective in increasing students’ motivation. Independent samples t-test results indicated a significant difference between the experimental and control groups (p = 0.000 < 0.05; tₕ = 5.336 > tₜ = 1.663), with the experimental group showing a substantial improvement from low and moderate motivation levels during the pretest to high levels in the posttest. These findings confirm that structured psychoeducational guidance can significantly improve learning motivation and provide a feasible solution for elementary schools lacking professional counseling services.

Abstract

West Sumatra, Indonesia, faces a critical dual seismic hazard from the Sunda Megathrust and the active Sumatra Fault System, resulting in repetitive destructive earthquakes and high structural vulnerability. This study investigates the effectiveness of disaster preparedness among adolescents (aged 10–24), a strategic demographic group comprising over 25% of the population. Using Evidence Synthesis via a Descriptive-Qualitative Library Research approach, this paper analyzes the convergence of local seismotectonic risks and social preparedness models. The synthesis reveals a significant knowledge–action gap (preparedness paradox): while theoretical disaster knowledge among students is high, their practical readiness and self-efficacy are moderate to low. This discrepancy is primarily driven by the insufficient contextualization of education to specific local seismic threats. We argue that structural mitigation must be urgently complemented by strengthening social adaptive capacity. The study advocates for implementing transformative disaster education that formally integrates local seismic data, hazard maps, and scenario-based psychomotor training. This model is essential for fostering adaptive competence and leveraging adolescents as pivotal agents of long-term community resilience and disaster risk reduction in this high-risk environment.

Abstract

Indonesia's dependence on fossil fuels remains strong despite national policy prioritizing the transition to net zero emissions by 2060 as a strategic goal. The downstream fossil fuel sector, particularly petroleum fuel processing and distribution, plays a crucial role in maintaining energy security and national economic stability. However, the dominance of state-owned enterprises, limited refinery capacity, and high subsidy policies create a dilemma between economic efficiency and energy security needs. This study aims to analyze the performance and economic structure of the downstream fossil energy industry in Indonesia using an industrial economics approach to understand the relationship between market structure, business behavior, and industry performance in the context of the national energy transition. The research method used is a qualitative - descriptive approach through literature studies, secondary data analysis from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Statistics Indonesia, the Ministry of Finance, and reports from international institutions such as the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the UNFCCC. The analysis is based on the Structure Conduct Performance (SCP) framework to identify the influence of market structure on the efficiency and competitiveness of the downstream fossil fuel sector. The data analyzed includes market share, subsidy levels, contribution to GDP, and indicators of economic efficiency and national carbon emissions. The analysis shows that the market structure of Indonesia's downstream fossil fuel sector remains oligopolistic, with strong dominance by state-owned enterprises (SOEs) leading to low levels of competition and innovation. Large energy subsidies cause price distortions and significant fiscal burdens, while investments in new refinery projects have yet to show optimal results. These conditions have resulted in economic inefficiency and dependence on fuel imports, which in turn weakens national energy security. This study concludes that structural reforms, increased market efficiency, and the gradual integration of fossil fuels and new and renewable energy are important steps toward achieving a balance between economic efficiency and energy security during the transition to a low carbon economy.
