Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play a pivotal role in driving economic growth and employment, particularly in emerging economies. However, their performance is often constrained by limited resources, weak strategic alignment, and insufficient technological integration. Grounded in the Resource-Based View (RBV) and Dynamic Capabilities framework, this study examines the influence of innovation, strategic planning, and technology adoption on SMEs’ performance. Data were collected from 100 SME respondents in Indonesia using purposive sampling, and the analysis was conducted through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS 3.0. The findings demonstrate that strategic planning significantly enhances SMEs’ performance by improving internal alignment and market responsiveness. Innovation, while essential, shows inconsistent effects, as its benefits depend on managerial capability and resource readiness. Moreover, technology adoption emerges as a critical factor, strengthening the positive impact of strategic planning and mitigating the risks of poorly managed innovation. The results highlight that SMEs must balance innovation efforts with systematic planning while integrating technology to ensure sustainable competitiveness. This study contributes theoretically by advancing the integration of RBV and Dynamic Capabilities in SME performance research, and it provides practical insights for managers and policymakers to foster digital readiness, strategic orientation, and innovation driven growth.

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of tobacco production and domestic consumption on Indonesia’s tobacco export volume, with the excise tariff as a moderating variable. Using annual data from 2008 to 2023, the research applies multiple linear regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). Results indicate that production positively and significantly affects exports, while consumption has a significant negative effect. However, the tobacco excise tariff does not significantly moderate these relationships. These findings highlight that production and consumption directly influence export performance, whereas the current excise policy is ineffective as a moderating tool. The study offers important insights for improving tobacco trade policy and boosting the competitiveness of Indonesia’s tobacco industry in international markets.

Abstract

The companies studied are the textile and garment industry in Indonesia due to its recent downturn, reviewing the impact of financial distress during the 2019-2023 research period. The population was 23 companies and the sample was 8 companies. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. Data were tested using the classical assumption test, multiple regression analysis, and moderated regression analysis using EViews 11. The results of this study indicate that liquidity has no effect on financial distress. Meanwhile, operational leverage has an effect on financial distress. Profitability is unable to moderate the relationship between liquidity and operational leverage on financial distress. Simultaneously, liquidity and operational leverage have a significant effect on financial distress. Based on these results, investors should be wise in making decisions, especially in investing their funds in the textile and garment industry

Abstract

Rice imports are a strategic issue in national food security, especially when domestic production is unable to meet domestic demand. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the volume of rice imports in Indonesia in the period 1999–2023. The independent variables used in this study include domestic rice production, domestic rice consumption, domestic rice prices, and international rice prices. Meanwhile, the dependent variable is rice imports. The approach used in this study is a quantitative approach with annual secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Ministry of Agriculture, and the FAO. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS software version 25. The results of the analysis show that the variables of international rice prices and domestic rice prices have a positive and significant effect on rice imports. Meanwhile, the variables of domestic rice production and consumption do not have a significant effect, but have a negative relationship to import volume. This indicates that Indonesia's dependence on the global market is still high in meeting its rice needs. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 41.6% indicates that variations in rice imports can be explained by the five independent variables. This research provides input for the government to strengthen food security by increasing domestic production and monitoring fluctuations in global rice prices. Abstract

This study investigated how digital media contributes to citizen-centred governance through effective communication strategies. It sought to examine the use of digital media for citizen engagement, evaluate its impact on service delivery efficiency, and determine its role in promoting participatory governance. The study was anchored on the Uses and Gratifications Theory and Participatory Communication Theory, which explain active media consumption and citizen involvement in governance processes. A mixed-methods approach combined surveys of 300 respondents with interviews of 15 e-governance officials. Findings revealed that digital media significantly improves citizen engagement through interactive platforms that allow direct feedback and dialogue, enhance service delivery by reducing bureaucratic delays and providing timely information, and encourage participatory governance as citizens actively contribute to policy discussions online. The study concluded that digital media has become a vital tool for advancing citizen-centred governance in Nigeria, as it enhances citizen engagement, improves service delivery efficiency, and fosters participatory governance, though its effectiveness is constrained by infrastructural, institutional, and responsiveness challenges that must be addressed for it to achieve its full potential. The study recommended, among others, that government agencies should strengthen their digital communication strategies to encourage active citizen engagement through responsive and inclusive platforms
