Abstract

The geopolitical relations between China and Afghanistan have undergone significant transformations in recent years, shaped by regional dynamics, security imperatives, economic cooperation, and strategic interests. As a neighboring country with extensive global influence, China has adopted a pragmatic approach toward Afghanistan, seeking to balance its economic investments with security considerations. This study explores the historical trajectory of Sino-Afghan relations, identifies the key factors influencing their bilateral interactions, and examines Afghanistan’s strategic importance within the broader regional ambitions of China—particularly in relation to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). It also briefly investigates China's role in Afghanistan’s political landscape following 2001 and analyzes its evolving stance after the Taliban's return to power in 2021. Furthermore, the research highlights the economic, security, and diplomatic dimensions of the two countries’ relationship and evaluates how Beijing’s strategic calculations in Afghanistan align with its broader regional objectives—especially concerning security stability (counterterrorism) and economic expansion. From a geopolitical standpoint, this paper offers insights into the long-term implications of China’s engagement with Afghanistan and its broader impact on the regional power dynamics, using a descriptive-analytical methodology.

Abstract

Afghanistan, often called a "geological treasure trove," is richly endowed with vast mineral deposits worth over $3 trillion. The minerals, including copper, lithium, iron, gold, and rare earths, can be used to resurrect the nation's economy, reduce dependence on foreign aid, and bring about political stability. However, three decades of conflict, political turmoil, corruption, and inadequate infrastructure have been a hindrance to the effective exploitation of the resources. This paper examines the role of mining in Afghanistan's economic and political development, distilling the opportunities and challenges in the industry. Drawing on comparative case studies from resource-rich countries like Botswana and Chile, the study highlights the importance of open government, robust regulatory institutions, and strategic foreign partnerships. The evidence suggests that an efficiently operated mining sector would be a driver of sustainable development, provided that Afghanistan addresses deep-seated systemic evils in the form of corruption, insecurity, and environmental degradation. The research concludes with policy imperatives aimed at maximizing the contribution of the sector to national development.

Abstract

Indonesia, with its vast social, cultural, and religious diversity, faces significant challenges in managing religious pluralism in the modern era. This article explores the complexities of religious pluralism in Indonesia through both social and religious perspectives. The study employs a qualitative approach using library research methods, examining various literatures encompassing pluralism theory, social theory, and contemporary phenomena related to religious pluralism in Indonesia. The analysis reveals that religious pluralism in Indonesia involves not only religious diversity but also socio-political dynamics and the growing influence of globalization, which increasingly shapes interfaith relations. Key issues include interreligious tensions often triggered by political and economic factors, as well as conflicts stemming from differing interpretations of religious teachings. This article also highlights the vital role of religion in shaping Indonesia’s social and cultural identity, along with the ongoing challenges in fostering tolerance and harmony among religious communities. Thus, the study provides insights into how religious pluralism in Indonesia can be wisely managed, considering the existing social complexities and challenges, while also offering a fresh perspective on understanding the dynamics of religious pluralism in an increasingly pluralistic Indonesian context.

Abstract

The 21st century demands the mastery of creative thinking skills that are essential for every individual. At SDN Kebonsari Kulon 1 Probolinggo, grade V teachers have implemented creative learning strategies, such as the use of group presentation tasks to train students to face future difficulties. This study aimed to describe the implementation of creative thinking skills of grade V students, specifically related to four important aspects, namely fluency, flexibility, originality and detail. This analysis used a descriptive qualitative methodology, with research respondents including school leaders, grade V educators and students. The data collection strategies applied were interviews, observation, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed through the stages of collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the analysis prove that the creative skills of grade V students have met the criteria based on four aspects. In the aspect of fluency, most students meet two of the three indicators, namely there are still students who feel reluctant to ask questions when they become an audience. In the aspect of flexibility, students were able to meet two of the three indicators, but some students were not able to classify ideas based on different criteria. All students met the indicators in the aspect of originality, as evidenced by their ability to find unique ideas in group discussions. In the aspect of detail, all indicators were met, as seen from the students' ability to explain in detail and coherently. In conclusion, the creative thinking skills of fifth grade students at SDN Kebonsari Kulon 1 Probolinggo are very good. However, there are still two indicators that have not been fully achieved, namely shyness to ask questions and difficulty in categorizing ideas based on different criteria. But overall, the implementation of creative thinking skills is very good.

Synergy between local communities and managers is key to creating this sustainability. However, challenges in implementing environmentally friendly management and actively involving the community are still faced. This study uses a qualitative approach with in-depth interview techniques and participatory observation. Research informants consisted of local communities, tourism village managers, and policy makers. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques to identify supporting and inhibiting factors in sustainability-based cultural tourism management. The findings show that collaboration between the community and managers in preserving culture and the environment is very significant. The community is involved in maintaining cultural sites, managing cultural tourism villages, and developing local tourism products. However, there are still challenges such as lack of capacity training and minimal incentives for communities who are active in management. The synergy between the local community and the Nyanggring tourism village managers in Tlemang Village has made a positive contribution to environmental sustainability, but requires more support in terms of training and policies to optimize the results.

Abstract

Village financial management is one of the key indicators in realizing effective village governance. However, in many villages, including Sidoan Timur Village, Sidoan District, Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi, the practice of financial transparency and accountability still faces various obstacles. This study aims to assess the application of the principles of transparency and accountability in the financial management of Sidoan Timur Village, Sidoan District, Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi, by referring to the perspective of village governance. The approach used is a qualitative method through case studies. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and review of official village documentation. Data analysis was carried out with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and inductive conclusion drawing. The research findings reveal that village financial management has not fully implemented the principle of transparency, because financial information is not routinely published and administrative accountability is still formal, without active involvement from the community. In addition, the implementation of financial governance regulations has not been consistent at the operational level. In conclusion, the practice of transparency and accountability in Sidoan Timur Village needs to be strengthened by increasing the capacity of village officials, optimizing public information media, and empowering community participation. Further research is suggested to examine the comparison between several villages with a quantitative approach in order to obtain a broader picture of village financial management from a governance perspective.

Abstract

Poverty in Makassar City is a multidimensional problem that not only covers economic, but also social and cultural aspects. The Family Hope Program (PKH) was initiated as a conditional social assistance intervention to ease the burden on poor families through increased access to education and health. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of PKH in improving the welfare of poor families in Makassar, identify socio-cultural factors that affect the success of the program, and explore the obstacles faced by beneficiaries and social companions. A descriptive qualitative approach was used with research subjects including 10 beneficiary families and 3 social companions. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document studies, then analyzed thematically using an inductive approach. The results of the study show that PKH contributes significantly to reducing the economic burden of families, especially in meeting children's educational and health needs. The success of the program is influenced by the role of social companions who are communicative and adaptive to the local cultural context. However, complicated bureaucracy, limited access to public services, inaccurate recipient data, and social stigma are the main obstacles that hinder the effectiveness of the program. Awareness and active participation of beneficiaries in carrying out program obligations are also the key to success. The research concludes that PKH needs to be supported by simplifying administrative procedures, strengthening the capacity of companions, and culturally sensitive approaches to increase the impact of programs in poverty alleviation in Makassar City.

Abstract

Public service reflects the state's role in fulfilling the needs of society in a fair and transparent manner. In the rapidly evolving digital era, public services in Indonesia have undergone significant transformation through the utilization of information technology. This study aims to examine strategies for improving the quality of public services in Indonesia in response to digitalization, emphasizing the importance of adapting to digital technologies to deliver more efficient, transparent, and accountable services. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, analyzing various literature and regulations related to public services and digital transformation. The results indicate that digitalization has had a positive impact on the enhancement of public service quality, particularly in terms of accessibility, efficiency, and public participation. E-government and online service systems have proven effective in reducing bureaucracy, increasing public satisfaction, and strengthening the principles of good governance. However, challenges such as the digital divide and infrastructure readiness remain critical obstacles. Therefore, public service strategies in the digital era must involve active collaboration between the government and society, along with strengthening technological capacity and human resources. With this approach, digital transformation in public services can be more inclusive and sustainable.
