Abstract

This research explores the social, economic and cultural factors that play a role in creating gender disparities in access to and participation in higher education in Indonesia, and how government policies can help overcome these inequalities. This research uses a normative legal research method with a conceptual and statutory ap-proach. The analysis focuses on existing laws and policies, as well as various legal concepts and concepts related to gender equality and education rights. The data used consists of primatice, secondary, and tertiary legal materials obtained through literature study. The results show that the gender gap in higher education is still influenced by the norm of traditional cultural and social norms, family economic constraints, and limited educational infrastructure in remote areas. Although there have been various government policies, their effectiveness is still limited since those policies have not fully considered the barriers faced by women at the grassroots level. Thus, a more comprehensive approach is needed, including raising public awareness, providing more targeted financial support, and social change that supports gender in equality so that women have equal access to higher education.

Abstract

Gender inequality in Indonesia is a complex issue that significantly impacts women's health. This study aims to analyze the effects of gender inequality on access to healthcare services, reproductive health, and women's mental health. Despite the existence of legal frameworks and policies supporting the protection of women's rights, challenges in their implementation remain substantial. The Family Planning (KB) program has shown success in reducing birth rates in several regions; however, there are still barriers related to access to information and education about contraception, particularly for young women. The success of health policies is evident in the increased access to basic health services for women, yet social stigma surrounding reproductive health and gender-based violence continues to pose significant challenges. Additionally, the lack of adequate resources and healthcare infrastructure in remote areas hampers policy implementation. Community involvement in policy formulation is crucial to ensure that these policies reflect local needs. This research emphasizes the necessity for collaborative efforts between the government, civil society, and international organizations to raise awareness about the importance of gender equality in health and to strengthen the enforcement of laws protecting women and children.

Abstract

The gender gap occurs mainly because of culture or cultures such as patriarchal culture which is dominant in the reality of society and even countries, which means that it is not easy to change the view that politics is an important public domain and can be entered by women. The literature study method used in writing this article is to collect and analyze secondary data from various literature sources.  Currently, there are many regulations that regulate women's rights, but in real life, women are still often given limitations, especially in terms of obtaining or gaining access to the world of politics. Women's political rights are still very low compared to men's political rights because they are considered unable to compete in several respects.

Abstract

Women's representation in student organizational structures is an important issue that reflects the gender gap that still exists, even though the number of female students is often greater than male. This research uses normative juridical methods to explore the legal and social challenges that hinder women from occupying leadership positions in student organizations, such as gender stereotypes and lack of support from the social environment. The results of this research show that even though there are regulations that support gender equality, such as Law Number 39 of 1999 concerning Human Rights, practice in the field still shows the dominance of men in strategic positions. Therefore, it is important to increase women's representation so that student organizations can create more inclusive policies and encourage women's empowerment, so that they can form a future generation of leaders who value equality and social justice more.

Abstract

This research highlights the gender gap in the Bengkulu Class II B Correctional Institution), especially in terms of providing facilities, health services and support for female prisoners. Prisons are generally designed to meet the needs of the majority of male prisoners, so the specific needs of female prisoners are often overlooked. This study uses a qualitative approach through interviews and observations to understand the experiences of female prisoners in prison. The research results show that the available health facilities do not support the reproductive and psychological health of female prisoners, who often face mental and emotional stress during their detention. These limitations have a negative impact on the welfare of female prisoners and demonstrate the need for correctional policies that are more sensitive to gender needs. It is hoped that these findings will encourage reform of the prison system to make it more inclusive, so that all prisoners, regardless of gender, receive fair treatment and adequate facilities.

Abstract

Abstract

The gender gap in Indonesia remains a significant issue even though various policies have been implemented to reduce it. This article analyzes the inequality between men and women in the social, economic, educational, and political fields, and explores relevant social theories, such as Structural Functionalism, Feminism, and Institutional Economics. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and other reports, the gender gap in Indonesia is still seen in low female labor force participation, inequality in access to education, and income disparities. Policies such as Law No. 13 of 2003 on Manpower and Gender Mainstreaming (PUG) have been enacted, but challenges in patriarchal culture and economic limitations still hamper efforts to achieve equality. This article recommends strengthening gender equality education, policy oversight, and inclusive economic development as strategic steps to reduce the gender gap in Indonesia.
