Abstract

This study aims to analyze Ustadz Felix Siauw's rhetoric on YouTube in response to the demonstrations and looting in August 2025. This research is important because the rhetoric of religious figures on social media plays a role in shaping public opinion on socio-political issues. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with an analysis of Aristotelian rhetoric, which includes ethos, pathos, and logos. Data were obtained through documentation and observation of two YouTube videos featuring Felix Siauw discussing the issues of demonstrations and looting. The results show that the element of logos is prominent through the delivery of rational arguments, cause-and-effect relationships, and an emphasis on moral principles. The elements of ethos and pathos remain present as supporting elements in building credibility and emotional engagement with the audience. These findings indicate that Felix Siauw's rhetorical strategies not only influence the audience's rational understanding of social phenomena but also build trust and emotional engagement with the message. This research contributes to the development of digital communication studies, particularly regarding the application of Aristotle's rhetoric in analyzing the communication strategies of religious figures on social media in responding to social issues

Abstract

The development of digital media has made podcasts an increasingly popular medium for delivering Islamic preaching messages because they are communicative and easily accessible. However, studies examining Islamic preaching rhetoric based on Aristotle’s rhetorical theory in podcast media remain limited. This study aims to analyze the use of Aristotle’s three rhetorical elements ethos, pathos, and logos by Ustadz Ridho Febri in the podcast “Menyikapi Ujian dan Masalah” on Sonny Aby Kim’s YouTube channel. This study employed a qualitative Grounded Theory approach. Data were collected through observation and documentation of the podcast content and analyzed using Strauss and Corbin’s coding procedures, namely open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The findings reveal that ethos is reflected in the speaker’s credibility and experience in conveying Islamic messages, pathos is demonstrated through his ability to build empathy and emotional connection with the audience, and logos is shown in the logical and systematic presentation of arguments related to life’s challenges. The integration of these three rhetorical elements creates persuasive and effective Islamic preaching that strengthens audience engagement and understanding. The novelty of this study lies in highlighting the integrated use of ethos, pathos, and logos in podcast-based Islamic preaching within contemporary digital media.

Abstract

The rapid development of the Islamic financial industry in the digital era demands a conceptual reconstruction of classical Islamic financial contracts to ensure their relevance as a foundation for innovation in modern Islamic financial products. This study aims to analyze the relevance of classical contracts in contemporary Islamic financial products, identify shifts in contract implementation due to digitalization and fintech sharia, evaluate the suitability of the implementation of contracts with the principles of al-sharī'ah, and formulate a conceptual model for adaptive contract innovation that is still based on muamalah jurisprudence. Abstract

Research on academic supervision has been dominated by conventional approaches oriented toward administrative oversight, while studies on the integration of technology into academic supervision as a means of teacher professional development are still limited, particularly in madrasah environments. This study aims to examine the transformation of technology-based academic supervision at MTsN 17 Tanah Datar in supporting teacher professional development. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Participants included the madrasah principal, the deputy principal for curriculum, and teachers selected based on their involvement in implementing academic supervision. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, with data validity guaranteed through triangulation of sources and methods. The results show that academic supervision develops through five stages, from conventional classroom supervision, evaluation of supervision effectiveness, non-intrusive supervision based on CCTV, reflective supervision based on learning videos, to the use of supervision results as the basis for teacher professional development programs. This transformation encourages a culture of reflection, collaboration, and constructive feedback. This study is limited to a single location, so its generalizability needs to be further tested through quantitative or multi-site research in other madrasah contexts

Abstract

MSMEs play a vital role in the Indonesian economy, yet their awareness and implementation of the SDGs remain poorly understood. This study emphasizes the importance of understanding and implementing the SDGs to enhance sustainable economic progress for micro-enterprises. The method used was a qualitative case study, designed to gain in-depth insight into the real-world situations faced by micro-enterprises. Information was collected through semi-structured discussions with MSME stakeholders and relevant individuals. The findings indicate that understanding and implementation of the SDGs among micro-enterprises are suboptimal and still face various obstacles, influenced by a lack of knowledge, limited access to information, and a lack of resources. However, the implementation of SDG principles promises to improve business performance, enhance competitiveness, and facilitate economic growth for MSMEs if supported by education, mentoring, and the integration of sustainability principles into business management

Abstract

Rising domestic conflict, divorce rates, and domestic violence suggest that Islamic ethical values regarding husband-wife relations remain poorly understood and implemented in society. Academic studies that comprehensively inventory and thematically analyze husband-wife ethics within a single Hadith collection remain limited; prior research tends to address family themes partially and rarely engages with contemporary gender discourse. This study addresses that gap by examining the text and meaning of Hadith on husband-wife ethics in Jami' al-Tirmidhi, situating the findings within contemporary gender debates. The study employs a qualitative method with a library-based approach. Primary data consist of Hadith on husband-wife ethics from Jami' al-Tirmidhi, while secondary data are drawn from syarah (commentary) texts, books, and journal articles. Data were collected through takhrij, documentation, and classification, followed by analysis of sanad, matan, and syarah, validated through source triangulation. Findings show that 15 Hadith can be grouped into five themes: morality toward one's spouse, responsibility for providing and leadership, wives' rights and obligations toward husbands, safeguarding honor, and balancing rights and obligations. These Hadith affirm that the husband-wife relationship in Islam is not hierarchical but a partnership grounded in complementary rights and obligations, open to dialogue with contemporary family and gender discourse.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the etiquette of reading the Qur'an based on the Book At-Tibyan fi Adabi Hamalatil Qur'an in talaqqi class participants. A qualitative approach was used with a field study design, involving 15 participants selected purposively. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, then analyzed thematically and validated through technical triangulation. The results show that technical-verbal etiquette, such as reading and listening in groups, raising the voice for correction, maintaining tajweed, and responding to greetings, have been consistently applied by all participants. In contrast, spiritual-social etiquette, including maintaining the quietness of the assembly, waiting for teacher corrections, responding to the call to prayer, and performing tilawah prostration, have not been consistently applied. These findings reveal a gap between mastery of technical aspects and appreciation of spiritual aspects in the application of etiquette of reading the Qur'an, which indicates that the talaqqi method is effective in improving reading competence but has not fully formed a holistic attitude of reverence towards the Qur'an. This study emphasizes the need for explicit and gradual integration of spiritual etiquette learning into the talaqqi curriculum to balance the technical and spiritual achievements of participants

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of da'wah development and financing implemented by Wahdah Islamiyah Medan and identify supporting and inhibiting factors. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with regional administrators and delegated da'wah delegates, observations of development activities, and organizational documentation. Data were analyzed through condensation, presentation, and conclusion drawing, while their validity was tested through triangulation of sources and methods. The results indicate that the effectiveness of Wahdah Islamiyah Medan's da'wah program is supported by the integration of a tiered development system and performance-based financing, where the amount of da'wah incentives is directly linked to the productivity of the development, which is reported periodically. This pattern makes financing not only operational assistance but also an instrument for monitoring and evaluating da'wah performance. However, the sustainability of the program is still overshadowed by limited independent funding, the vast service area, and the digital literacy gap. This study confirms that the effectiveness of an organization's da'wah is highly dependent on the extent to which development and financing are managed as an integrated system, rather than two separate functions.

Abstract

Power in Islam is a divine mandate with ethical, spiritual, and social dimensions. However, the abuse of power in contemporary life demonstrates a shift in its meaning into an instrument of personal and group interests. Previous studies generally discussed the leadership of Prophet Sulaiman and Prophet Yusuf separately, resulting in a comparative examination of the ethical basis for their demands for power. This study aims to analyze the ethics of demands for power in the Qur'an through a comparison of the verses. QS. Ṣād [38]:35 and QS. Yūsuf [12]:55 based on the interpretation of Sayyid Quṭb in Tafsir Fi Zhilal Al-Qur'an. The research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method and a library research type. Primary data comes from Tafsir Fi Zhilal Al-Qur'an, while secondary data were obtained from relevant books and scientific articles. The data were analyzed using content analysis and comparative methods. The results of the study indicate two complementary ethical models of power demands: the transcendental-worship model in the story of the Prophet Sulaiman and the competence-benefit model in the story of the Prophet Yusuf. A comparison of the two yields four main principles: monotheistic orientation, moral integrity, competence supported by a track record, and commitment to the public good. Thus, a demand for power gains ethical legitimacy when based on devotion to God, accountable capabilities, and an orientation toward the public interest
