Abstract

The PPA Symphony recorded 7,842 cases of violence against children by mid-2024, indicating the need for preventive efforts through early sexual education. Sexual education for children aims to improve their understanding of body awareness, body privacy, and self-protection from inappropriate behaviors. This community service activity aimed to increase students’ understanding of sexual education through interactive PowerPoint media. The activity was conducted at SD Negeri Gebang Surakarta on April 25, 2025, involving 63 students from grades 3, 4, and 5. The method used was an interactive lecture supported by PowerPoint media, storytelling, and mini games. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test questionnaires to measure students’ knowledge. The results showed an increase in the average knowledge score from 9.827 in the pre-test to 10.210 in the post-test. These findings indicate that interactive PowerPoint media is effective in improving students’ understanding of basic sexual education, particularly regarding body parts, body privacy, safe and unsafe zones, and strategies for refusing uncomfortable behaviors. Therefore, interactive learning media can serve as an effective educational strategy to strengthen early sexual education among elementary school students.

Abstract

The hospitality industry is a dynamic sector that demands housekeeping staff to have high adaptability to changes in technology, operational procedures, and guest expectations. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of workplace adaptability training in increasing the understanding and adaptation readiness of housekeeping staff at PT X. The research method used was a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test model. Training participants included various job levels, from staff to supervisors. The intervention was carried out through the delivery of conceptual material, discussion of operational case studies, and online reflective sessions. The comparative test results showed a significant difference between the participants' level of understanding before and after the training. All participants experienced a consistent increase in scores, indicating that this training was effective in building employees' cognitive capacity and adaptive behavior. However, the effectiveness of this training needs to be supported by inclusive organizational policies, fair compensation systems, and protection against work risks to reduce the turnover rate of new and daily workers. The study concludes that adaptability training is a vital investment for hotel operational resilience amidst market dynamics.

Abstract

Geometry learning at the Junior High School (SMP) level frequently faces challenges due to the abstract nature of the objects, which impacts students' low spatial literacy. This issue is exacerbated by the dominance of conventional teaching methods that lack interactive digital media. This community service activity aims to enhance students' spatial literacy at SMP IT Qoshrul Muhajirin through learning assistance using ethnomathematics-based digibooks. The method employed consists of four stages: Planning, Acting, Observing, and Reflecting. Data were collected through observation, student response questionnaires, as well as pre-test and post-test instruments. The results indicate a significant improvement in students' spatial literacy by 22.70%, with the average score increasing from 43% in the initial stage to 65.70% following the assistance. Furthermore, 91.3% of students provided positive responses regarding the ease of use of the media, and 90.4% felt more motivated in learning. It can be concluded that the use of ethnomathematics-based digibooks is effective as an innovative learning solution capable of integrating digital technology with local cultural values to optimize students' spatial abilities.

Abstract

Background: Pregnancy is a crucial period that requires special attention to the mother's physiological and psychological aspects. Many pregnant women experience poorly understood physical and emotional changes, lack of early detection of high-risk pregnancies, and lack of knowledge about a healthy lifestyle during pregnancy, including physical activity and balanced nutrition. The main problems faced are pregnant women's lack of understanding of normal physiological and psychological changes during pregnancy, lack of knowledge about danger signs and how to detect high-risk pregnancies, low participation of pregnant women in physical activities such as prenatal exercise, lack of knowledge regarding balanced nutrition for pregnant women, and limited comprehensive health education facilities in the community. Objective: This community service activity aims to improve the health of pregnant women by strengthening promotive and preventive pregnancy classes. Methods: This community service activity included screening for high-risk pregnancies, providing materials on physiological and psychological changes in pregnancy, maternal nutrition, and early detection of complications in high-risk pregnancies. A demonstration of prenatal exercise practices was also conducted at the Pondokgebangsari Village Hall, Kuwarasan District, Kebumen Regency. The training, conducted in February 2026, involved 15 pregnant women in their first, second, and third trimesters. Results: This activity demonstrated an increase in mothers' knowledge about physiological, psychological changes, and pregnancy nutrition after education, with 8 receiving good and 7 receiving adequate education. Education on Early Detection and Danger Signs of High-Risk Pregnancy also increased, with 9 receiving good and 6 receiving adequate education. Thus, families are aware of the importance of attending pregnancy classes and see them as essential for a healthy pregnancy. Conclusion: Community service programs to strengthen pregnancy classes through education, high-risk screening, and nutrition counseling support efforts to improve maternal and infant health, and are an investment in the future.

Abstract

The Padang State University Community Service Program (KKN) in Jorong Koto Tingga, Nagari Sirukam, Payung Sekaki District, Solok Regency, West Sumatra, implemented a public space revitalization program through the construction of a creative garden based on rice field views. This program was created in response to the lack of representative public spaces and the decline in social interaction between residents due to modernization. Using a participatory approach, the community and youth of the jorong were involved in every stage, from planning, land clearing, to the construction of seating facilities overlooking the expanse of rice fields. As a result, the empty land was successfully transformed into a functional, aesthetic, and locally valuable public space. The high level of community participation demonstrated the success of the approach implemented and fostered a sense of ownership of the park being built. This program is expected to become a model for revitalizing public spaces based on local potential for other rural areas. Although the construction was not fully completed when the KKN program ended, the community and youth of Jorong Koto Tingga are committed to continuing it independently. This program is expected to become a model for revitalizing public spaces based on local potential for other rural areas with similar characteristics.

Abstract

Inappropriate use of medicines during fasting remains a community concern due to limited understanding of dose scheduling and proper medication use during fasting. Banjarwati Village, located in Paciran District, is an area that still requires improved health education, particularly regarding medicine use during fasting. This community service activity aimed to improve public knowledge of proper medicine use during fasting. The activity was conducted on 30 January 2026 at Tiara Farma Pharmacy, Banjarwati Village, Paciran District, Lamongan Regency. The method consisted of direct educational sessions through interactive presentations, discussions, and educational media in the form of leaflets and posters. Participants were encouraged to actively engage in question-and-answer sessions to clarify misconceptions related to medication schedules, dosage adjustments, and the safe use of medicines while fasting. Evaluation was carried out using pretest and posttest to measure participants’ knowledge improvement. The results showed an increase in the average knowledge score from 72.94 before the session to 92.94 after the session, and statistical analysis demonstrated a significance value of p < 0.001, indicating a meaningful difference. These findings suggest that educational interventions are effective in enhancing community understanding and promoting the rational use of medicines during fasting periods, thereby supporting better health outcomes and medication adherence

Abstract

Hypertension is a condition where blood pressure increases above normal limits as indicated by systolic and diastolic values ​​during examination. In Karanglangit Village, the community's low level of knowledge regarding risk factors, prevention and treatment of hypertension is an obstacle in controlling this disease. This service activity aims to increase public understanding so that they are able to implement efforts to prevent and manage hypertension independently. The method used is direct counseling with the help of presentation media and educational posters. The activity stages include completing a pre-test, providing material about hypertension, an interactive discussion session, and a post-test. The activity was carried out in January 2026 at the Karanglangit Village Hall, Lamongan District, with 26 PKK women participating. The results show an increase in participants' knowledge, marked by an increase in the average score from 76.92% in the pre-test to 100% in the post-test. The paired t-test showed a significant difference before and after the counseling (p<0.001), so that the activity was considered effective in increasing community knowledge. Apart from that, participants also better understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle, regular check-ups, and compliance in maintaining stable blood pressure.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance students’ reading interest, imagination, and active engagement in literacy learning through an Interactive Read Aloud program at SDN 10 Kabawetan Kepahiang. The program involved 40 students from grades IV to VI and was implemented through three main stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation and reflection. The method applied was read-aloud combined with interactive techniques, including questioning, story prediction, creative activities, and story-based quizzes. Data were collected through direct observation, students’ responses during the activities, and their creative outputs, and were analyzed descriptively. The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ reading interest and participation, as reflected in their active involvement in listening, responding, and engaging in discussions. In addition, the program contributed to the development of students’ imagination and creativity, demonstrated through drawing, coloring, and retelling activities. Vocabulary understanding also improved naturally through contextual exposure within the stories without explicit instruction. Furthermore, the use of interactive quizzes increased students’ motivation and enthusiasm throughout the program. In conclusion, the Interactive Read Aloud program proved to be an effective literacy learning strategy that not only improves reading skills but also fosters creativity, confidence, and active student engagement. This program is recommended as an innovative and practical approach for literacy instruction in elementary schools.

Abstract

Accountability in preparing financial reports is a crucial instrument for the sustainability of business entities, because inaccurate financial data management can hinder decision-making and harm business performance in the future. For MSME actors in the PKK Tanggamus community, strengthening financial reporting competence is an urgent need so they can map expenditure structures, record income, calculate profit, and evaluate business development periodically. This community service activity aims to improve participants’ financial discipline, particularly in separating personal assets, business capital, and gross profit, while introducing accessible office technology. The training focused on optimizing LibreOffice Calc as an alternative to Microsoft Excel with similar functions for creating transaction tables, cost recapitulations, and simple financial reports. The activity method included material presentation, software demonstrations, report preparation practice, and interactive discussions based on participants’ business needs. Training results showed high enthusiasm, improved understanding, and readiness to use LibreOffice Calc as a more organized, transparent, and sustainable financial recording tool. Thus, this activity provides practical contributions to building an accountable financial administration culture for community-based MSMEs.

Abstract

Baruga is a traditional building that serves as a venue for community meetings, social activities, and a symbol of cultural identity. However, the Baruga located in the cultural heritage area of Kampung Lama, Kombeli Village, has experienced physical deterioration due to the weathering of wooden materials and has limited capacity to accommodate community activities. This community service program aimed to develop a renovation design that improves the building's quality and capacity while preserving its traditional architectural character. The program employed a participatory approach consisting of coordination, field surveys, building measurements and documentation, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), design concept development, design validation, and preparation of the final design document. The results indicate that the proposed renovation design replaces the main wooden structural elements with reinforced concrete to enhance structural strength and durability, while retaining wooden flooring as a representation of the traditional identity of the Baruga. In addition, the building dimensions were expanded to increase its capacity for social, cultural, and community meeting activities. The resulting design serves not only as a technical guideline for renovation but also as an instrument for preserving the architectural form, function, and cultural values of the Baruga as an important cultural heritage asset of Kampung Lama, Kombeli Village.
