Abstract

Perineal wound pain is one of the most common complaints experienced by postpartum mothers and may interfere with daily activities, mobility, and postpartum recovery. One non-pharmacological intervention that can help reduce pain is sitz bath therapy (warm water immersion). This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of postpartum mothers in perineal wound care through education and the implementation of sitz bath therapy at Arinda Clinic. The methods included health education, demonstrations, hands-on practice, and mentoring in the implementation of sitz bath therapy. Evaluation was conducted using pretest and posttest assessments of participants' knowledge and observations of their ability to perform sitz bath therapy independently. The results showed improvements in participants' knowledge and skills, as well as a reduction in perineal wound pain after the implementation of sitz bath therapy. Participants were also able to perform the procedure independently and reported that the method was easy to apply during the postpartum period. Education and implementation of sitz bath therapy are simple, safe, and potentially sustainable promotive and preventive interventions to support postpartum recovery.

Abstract

Advances in information technology have significantly transformed the business landscape, including for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Digital transformation has become a necessity for MSMEs to expand their markets, build their brands, and enhance customer engagement. While the benefits of digital transformation have been widely felt by MSMEs in urban areas, rural MSMEs face challenges due to limited knowledge of digital technology. As a result, their ability to compete in modern markets is hindered, and they remain reliant on local consumers. As a solution, empowerment efforts are needed through SME mentoring activities aimed at developing digital marketing capabilities. The empowerment program was implemented for the “Kakanan Dhisa” SMEs in Trebungan Village, Situbondo. The program consisted of three phases: planning and preparation, implementation, and evaluation, spanning six weeks from July to August 2023. The results show that MSME operators gained a better understanding of digital marketing tools and were able to independently enhance their online promotional capabilities. This empowerment program not only supports the capacity building of MSME operators but also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly goal 1 & 4.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology, particularly the penetration of the internet and social media, has disrupted the interaction patterns of modern society, including among students. Although social media supports education, communication, and access to information, it also creates vulnerability to cybercrimes such as phishing, cyberbullying, hoax dissemination, and personal data exploitation or doxing. The uneven level of digital literacy, combined with the high intensity of internet use among adolescents, makes this Community Service (PKM) activity urgent and relevant. This activity aims to educate and improve the digital resilience of MA Al-Amin students through the application of cyber safety concepts. The approach used is preventive and participatory by integrating theoretical presentations, interactive discussions, and cyber threat identification simulations. Program effectiveness was evaluated using pre-test and post-test instruments to measure changes in students’ understanding. The results indicate an escalation in students’ awareness, knowledge, and caution in using the internet and social media. It also encourages students to recognize risks before sharing personal information online independently. Therefore, this activity contributes to strengthening safer, healthier, and more responsible digital behavior among students.

Abstract

The planned implementation of the CoreTax Administration System as a form of tax digitalization carries the risk of creating a digital divide and resistance from rural communities due to a lack of information. Therefore, this Community Service (PkM) program was initiated to enhance citizens' tax literacy while introducing the concept of village financial management that is transparent, accountable, and beneficial (maslahah). The partners for this program are located in Bodeh District, Pemalang Regency, consisting of village treasurers, PKK women cadres, and local MSME actors. The implementation method was carried out in three phases: the preparation stage, field implementation through interactive education based on academic manuscript modules (3 strengthening sessions), and impact evaluation. The PkM results indicate a collective increase in partner understanding of up to 80%. Misconceptions regarding new tariff burdens were successfully clarified; village treasurers now understand the efficiency of pre-populated data features and the Unified Monthly Tax Return (SPT Masa), MSME actors have gained clarity on tax exemption regulations for annual turnovers under IDR 500 million, and PKK cadres have committed to adopting the Family Portal to realize smart financial maslahah. The sustainability of this program is recommended through the organization of tactical hands-on workshops and the establishment of a Village Digital Tax Literacy Corner.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play an essential role in supporting economic growth. However, many MSMEs still face challenges in developing strong brand identities and utilizing digital platforms for marketing. This community service program aimed to optimize the branding and digital marketing of Docreth MSME through the development of a business logo, promotional banner, social media management, and e-commerce implementation. The program was carried out through several stages, including needs assessment, visual identity design, promotional media development, mentoring in social media and e-commerce management, followed by monitoring and evaluation. The results indicate that Docreth successfully established a more professional brand identity, attractive promotional media, optimized social media accounts, digital promotional content, and an online store to expand market reach. Furthermore, the business owner improved their knowledge and skills in implementing branding strategies and digital marketing independently. This program demonstrates that digital branding and marketing assistance can enhance the competitiveness of MSMEs and support sustainable business development in the digital era.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of internet access in rural areas has brought both benefits and vulnerabilities, particularly regarding digital crime. In rural communities such as Simego Village, low digital literacy creates a significant gap between technology adoption and legal awareness. This community engagement activity aims to enhance legal awareness and digital literacy regarding Cyber Law (UU ITE) and the risks of online gambling (judol) among residents of Simego Village. The intervention applied a participatory learning approach using case-based learning, involving 30 residents, including village officials, community leaders, and local youth. Evaluation was conducted through pre-test and post-test instruments to measure the change in legal comprehension. The findings reveal a significant increase in the average score of participants' understanding, rising from 30 (low category) during the pre-test to 85 (high category) in the post-test, representing an increase of 183.3%. The interactive discussion highlighted that rural residents previously suffered from misconceptions, believing that provisions regarding online gambling (Article 27 paragraph 2 of UU ITE) only targeted site owners or bookmakers, without realizing that sharing promotion links or lending bank accounts also carries criminal liability. The activity successfully transformed public perception and strengthened preventive awareness against digital crime. In conclusion, case-based legal education effectively bridges the gap between normative cyber regulations and rural society.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is a major reproductive health problem among women that requires promotive, preventive, and early detection efforts. Limited knowledge regarding risk factors, symptoms, prevention, and screening may contribute to delays in receiving appropriate examinations. This community service activity aimed to improve women’s knowledge and awareness of cervical cancer prevention and early detection through the CERIA Program (Prevent, Educate, Care, Identify, and Be Aware). The activity was conducted in Banggae Village, Takalar Regency, involving 40 women through pretests, reproductive health education, cervical cancer education, discussions, educational media demonstrations, risk factor identification simulations, posttests, and evaluation. The materials covered cervical cancer concepts, risk factors, symptoms, prevention through healthy lifestyles and HPV vaccination, screening importance, and access to health services. The evaluation showed an increase in the mean knowledge score from 56.75 before intervention to 84.25 after intervention. Participants with good knowledge increased from 17.5% to 87.5%, and 35 participants (87.5%) correctly identified risk factors and prevention measures. The CERIA Program has potential as a community-based educational approach to strengthen women’s reproductive health literacy and encourage cervical cancer screening utilization.

Abstract

Adolescents are highly susceptible to peer influence and social interactions that may affect their moral development. Limited understanding of Islamic ethics in social relationships may lead to inappropriate behavior both in direct interactions and digital environments. The community service initiated focused on strengthening the awareness of junior high school students on Islamic moral values and social ethics by means of an interactive mentoring program. The activity was conducted with 66 seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Kota Blitar using three stages: needs assessment, program planning, and implementation. The mentoring employed seminars, interactive discussions, and contextual case studies related to adolescents' daily social experiences. Data were collected using a 20-item pretest and posttest to asses students' understanding, along with a five-point Likert scale satisfaction questionnaire. Descriptive analysis was conducted to compare the participants' mean scores and calculate participants' satisfaction levels. The findings revealed that the students’ mean of pretest score increased from 67.12 to 85.76 in the posttest, indicating an increase of 18.64 points (27.77%). The satisfaction survey also demonstrated highly positive responses, with an overall mean score of 4.49 (very satisfied). Approximately 71.2% of participants reported being very satisfied, 25.8% satisfied, and only 3.0% fairly satisfied with the mentoring activities.

Abstract

This training initiative aimed to enhance the understanding and leadership character of children living in an orphanage through education on self-leadership, responsibility, honesty, courage, caring, interpersonal communication, and teamwork. The program was conducted with children aged 7–12 at Griya Yatim & Dhuafa Suryo 2 in South Jakarta, utilizing an educational and participatory approach. Implementation methods included interactive lectures, Q&A sessions, ice-breaking activities, group games, reflection, and evaluation. The results demonstrated that the interactive approach successfully boosted participant engagement and comprehension. Specifically, 87% of participants completed the entire program, 79% were able to explain leadership concepts, 91% could cite examples of effective interpersonal communication, and 80% demonstrated the ability to collaborate in group activities. These findings indicate that experiential learning focused on leadership and interpersonal communication is relevant for fostering character development in children. From a managerial perspective, orphanage administrators can integrate leadership practices into daily routines by assigning responsibilities and organizing group tasks. Practically, methods such as games, discussions, and simulations serve as effective tools for teaching leadership in a manner suited to children's characteristics. These findings align with other initiatives utilizing interactive, activity-based leadership education, which have shown positive impacts on children's character development and leadership skills.

Abstract

Reading, writing, and arithmetic skills (calistung) are fundamental competencies that elementary school students need to master. However, some students still struggle to acquire these skills and require additional support. This activity aims to describe the implementation of calistung tutoring provided by university students through the Teaching Assistance Program at SDN 96 Mataram. The activity employed a participatory approach and direct mentoring, proceeding through stages of needs identification, planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. Four students with varying initial proficiency levels participated in the activity. The results demonstrated improvements in reading, writing, and arithmetic skills achieved through progressive exercises tailored to the students' abilities. Direct mentoring also enabled the university students to provide motivation, corrections, and feedback as needed. Thus, calistung mentoring serves as a form of additional support for students in developing their foundational reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
