Abstract

The enclosure process of bundengan musical instruments that took place at Selomerto Wonosobo 2 JuniorHigh School as an effort to inherit traditional arts to the next generation. The inheritance of bundenganmusical instruments at the school includes elements of enculturation and the process of socializationthrough educational facilities. The efforts of enculturation of bundengan musical instruments in WonosoboSelomerto 2 Middle School were actualized through various activities. The support and role of appreciationfrom the community and government institutions in collaboration with SMP Negeri 2 Selomerto in reintroducing the use of bundengan musical instruments in ceremonial and ceremonial events provides spacefor appreciation and fulfillment of students' needs for their existence, the existence of musical instruments,schools and students and the community. The use of social media, and print media, is one of the culturaltransmission media in informing and becoming a form of internalization. This research is qualitativeresearch, which is carried out using survey methods; observations, in-depth interviews (independentinterviews), documentation, and literature studies that refer to the concept of cultural enculturation.

Abstract

This work presents an academic study of the musical biography of Sultan Sulaiman, the fifth head of Serdang Sultanate, North Sumatera, Indonesia, in period 1880-1946. The discussion will lead to discussing the impact of his musical thinking and activity for the arts (espesially on music) atmosphere in the Sultanate. It will be concern on anything he did for music development in Serdang Sultanate during his commander and the impact after his period.  In addition, this study will be presents in brief the correlation between Sultan™s music activity and  the political situation at that time. The method used in this research is the qualitative method with biography approach. The data and information will be obtained in two ways, primary and secondary. The data and information which include in primary method will come from interview which use the in-depth interview approach. While the secondary method involves data collection via secondary sources which will come from books, journals, articles, conference papers, published dissertations, audio or video recording, diary book, music hand-sheet and other sources which support the research topic.This study find that Sultan Sulaiman is the root of arts development in the Serdang Sultanate. This is evidenced by the many art activities he conserve and develop such as Nobat Diraja, Mak Yong, Brass Band, and Serampang Dua Belas dance. The activities he did on the past give many impact for art development in Serdang in nowadays. It also stated that the art™s idea of Sultan Sulaiman is a part of political strategy.

Abstract

Through this paper, the authors examine the history of the existence of the Haru Kingdom on the east coast of northern Sumatra. This paper sketches the approach of history, using literary methods, source criticism, qualitative, and analytical descriptive. The theory used is change and continuity. This Haru Kingdom existed around the 13th to 16th centuries. Its territory covers the east coast of North Sumatra (now). This type of kingdom is Islam, but with a society that still shares animism. From those centuries we find historical records of the upheavals and wars in this kingdom. In addition, Aceh and Riau also include its influence in this Haru Kingdom.

Abstract

This paper analyze about continuities and changes Malay North Sumatra musical culture, with historical and ethnomusicological approach. We use the evolution theory, and qualitative methods in this research. Malay music North Sumatran begun in the early of Malay culture, in 1300 B.C. By this time to the first century, Malay musical culture basic on animism and dynamism, which use to ceremony activities. In firs to thirteen century Hinduism and Buddhism come to Malay culture. In this era musical culture from Hinduism and Buddhism absorbed by Malay North Sumatran, in the form as follows: raga and tala influence, some instrumets from India as tabla, mrdanga, sarenggi, and so on. Then, 13th century Islam adopted by North Sumatran in musical culture. The concep One God and adat bersendikan syarak, syarak bersendikan kitabullah has been make the main role in custom and music. The concept maqam and iqaat adopted to Malay musical culture. Th 16th century European come to Malay World, and some musical genres adopted by Malay, as dondang sayang (from branyo Portuguese), ronggeng, popular music, and so on. Today, all of musical element fusion to Malay culture with new development aesthetics.

Abstract

The research aims to determine the structure and arrangement of the song A Sing sing So arrangement Bian Liunian. The theories used in this study include the understanding of analysis, the understanding of structures, the notion of music, the understanding of interpretation, the understanding of songs, the definition of A Sing Sing So. This research uses a qualitative method of descriptive research that is a research method aimed to describe in detail and clearly about a phenomenon that is the focus of research. This study is a qualitative descriptive study, therefore, this research was conducted in the laboratory of Sendratasik department which was carried out in February 2019 “ June 2019. The results of this study show that the song of A Sing Sing So of Bian Liunian arranger has 13 motifs along with its supporting motif, has 6 phrases consisting of phrase questions and answers, this song is also a two-part song consisting of part A and B. Arrangement of this song can be seen from the melody, rhythm and harmonization of Mandarin nuance but the interpretation of the song does not correspond to the meaning of the actual song.

Abstract

The research aims to know about learning piano of blind children in the extracurricular program at Karya Murni Medan. This research located in Jalan Karya Wisata, Medan Johor. This research was using collective data technique with a qualitative descriptive method to describe piano learning of blind children in SLB-A Karya Murni Medan. The time of the study was conducted from February 2019 “ June 2019.  Based on this research, it was found that in the learning piano for blind children was very different and difficult besides the learning piano for normal children, that™s why the teacher must be more patient in giving the learning.

Abstract

From learning of music , SMA Negeri 1 Silimakuta can improve student character. Implementation of character education in schools as part of education reform, the reform of character education can be likened to a tree that has four important parts, which roots, stems, branches, and leaves. The root of the reform is the philosophical foundation (foothold) the implementation of character education must be clear and understood by the community organizers and education practitioners. The trunk of reform is in the form of a mandate from the government as the person in charge of the national education provider. In this case the standards and objectives for implementing character education must be clear, transparent and accountable. This study aims (1) to find out how the Character of Students in SMA N.1 Silimakuta. (2) to find out whether there is an influence of the Application of Music Art Learning to Student Characters in SMA N.1 Silimakuta. This research instrument uses observation, documentation, tests and questionnaires. The test is used to measure student learning outcomes. Questionnaire is used to measure student characteristic variables. The answers to each item of the questionnaire instrument used a Likert scale which have gradations from very positive to very negative. The questionnaire consisted of 30 questions, with four choices of answers from negative to positive given a score of 1.2, 3, and 4. Similar to SMA Negeri 1 Silimakuta, learning in schools also applies character education. Based on data from the results of this study, it was found that the character of students before and after music learning had a significant difference. There is an effect of music learning on student character with an increase in character questionnaire score of 14.01% and an increase in the level of data tendency that is for the very high category increased by 12.93%, for the category quite increased by 27.89% and there was a decrease in the value of the tendency for the less category by 40.82%

Abstract

This  study  aims  to  determine  the  existence,  functions  and  values  of  local  wisdom  of traditional music at the wedding ceremony bordah coastal communities wither North Labuhan Batu Regency. The theory used is the theory that relate to research topics such as the theory of existence, the theory of functions, traditional music theory, the theory of the wedding ceremony and the theory of values Local Wisdom. This study uses qualitative descriptive method where the data is examined through the collection of data in the form of photographs and videos, scientific papers, as well as the expert opinion in the material based on the research topic. The results showed that the presence of traditional music bordah is a traditional art in the form of poetry, music, dance and customs, the wedding ceremony. Bordah displayed on Regent Cup Festival activities, Hagaf, Thanksgiving child's birth and circumcision ceremony. Bordah functions of traditional music as entertainment, as Iringin, means of communication, expression of gratitude, the continuity of culture and a means of self-expression.  Local  wisdom  values  bordah  traditional  music  at  the  wedding  ceremony coastal communities wither North Labuhan Batu district: religious values, the value of art, solidarity, tolerance, the value of harmony and peace, the value of modesty, the economic value and the value of education. Keywords : Existence, Function Music, Local Wisdom, Bordah.

Abstract

This research is the Use of Hand Signs in Learning Angklung traditional musical instruments in SMA Negeri 1 Babalan. The purpose of this study was to determine the learning process of Angklung traditional musical instruments in SMA Negeri 1 Babalan, to determine the use of hand signs in learning angklung traditional music, to determine the difficulties faced by students from using Hand Signs in learning traditional angklung music at SMA Negeri 1 Babalan, to know the student's learning ability in understanding the use of hand signs in the learning of traditional angklung music in SMA Negeri 1 Babalan. The theory used in this research is the theory of Hand Signs, learning, angklung traditional music, difficulties and learning abilities. The method used in this research is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach which includes several aspects: Observation of observation, interviews, documentation and study of literature. This research was carried out in SMA Negeri 1 Babalan, North Sumatra, located at Jalan Melati number 2 Kec. Babalan City of  Pangkalan Brandan postal code 20857 North Sumatra. When this research was conducted from April 2019 to June 2019.

Abstract

Kesenian Senandung Bertelur Kau Sinangin merupakan kesenian seni musik yang digunakan oleh para nelayan sebelum berangkatmelaut. Mereka bernyanyi dan memukul gendang sebagai ritual agar mendapatkan banyak tangkapan ikan, mereka percaya syair-syair dan alunan musik yang mereka lantunkan dapat memanggil angin untuk membawa menuju ke arah ikan berada.Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan bentuk penyajian kesenian Senandung Bertelur Kau Sinangin. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan interdisiplin. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumen. Teknik keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi sumber. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis data Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk penyajian kesenian Senandung Bertelur Kau Sinangin sebagai ritual nelayan Kota Tanjungbalai yaitu adanya, (1)musik, (2) penyaji, (3) alat musik, (4) kostum, (5) properti, dan (6) tempat pertunjukkan.
