Abstract

Early reading skills are an important foundation for student literacy at the elementary school level. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the application of the KWL (Know, Want, Learned) technique in improving the early reading skills of grade 1 students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Using a literature study approach, this study analyzed various journals and scientific articles related to the application of the KWL technique. The KWL technique involves three stages, namely identifying initial knowledge (Know), determining learning objectives (Want), and reflecting on learning outcomes (Learned). The results of the study showed that the KWL technique significantly improved students' understanding of the text, learning motivation, and critical thinking skills. The use of supporting media, such as picture storybooks or letter puzzles, also strengthened the effectiveness of this technique by creating an interactive and meaningful learning experience. The application of KWL is in accordance with the theory of social constructivism and self-determination, which emphasizes the importance of social interaction and intrinsic motivation in learning. With promising results, the KWL technique can be a strategic alternative to improve students' early reading skills at the elementary school level. This study makes an important contribution to the development of innovative and enjoyable reading learning methods, which support the improvement of students' literacy quality as a whole

Abstract

The aim of this research is to get to know the application of academic supervision using class visit techniques carried out by the school principal in an effort to improve teacher performance at SMPN 5 Pamekasan. This paper applies a qualitative method which more precisely uses a descriptive type. The subject of this research is the principal of SMPN 5 Pamekasan. Meanwhile, the results of this research can be concluded that the implementation of academic supervision using class visit techniques by the school principal goes through several stages, including: First, the planning stage. The steps taken at the planning stage include: preparing performance plans through performance management at PMM, preparing tools for educators and a way to collect and process data, determining class visit schedules, and holding discussions with teachers regarding the performance plans that have been made. they arrange. Second, the implementation stage. Third, evaluation, reflection and follow-up stage. In the implementation of supervision there are supporting and inhibiting factors. The supporting factor is the existence of the PMM application which makes it easier for school principals to carry out supervision, while the inhibiting factor is the limited time to carry out supervision activities. Considering that the principal has so many duties, supervision activities cannot be carried out optimally.

Abstract

Science literacy has a very important role in integrated science learning because it is able to increase students' comprehensive understanding of science concepts and their application in daily life. To be able to develop and create a learning atmosphere that makes students actively involved in it. Teacher-centered learning makes students passive and easily saturated during the learning process. This saturation will later cause students to have no ability to reason and implement knowledge related to science literacy. The purpose of this study is to find out the implementation of science literacy skills in integrated science learning in elementary schools, improve scientific thinking skills, encourage students to understand the relationship between science concepts and help students relate science to real life and decision-making. The methods used in this study are literature studies and field observations and interviews. The literature studies obtained came from several articles related to the research, and were also obtained from the results of observations which were then concluded. The data were then analyzed qualitatively with descriptive elaboration. The results of the research obtained by science literacy skills can be With integrated science learning, students no longer study science separately (physics, chemistry, biology), but as a whole unit. Science literacy helps them in relating various concepts in one context, understanding the relationship between natural phenomena from various scientific perspectives. This strengthens the skills of the scientific process that are the core of science learning. With this implementation, developing critical and reflective thinking skills is very important in facing complex challenges and information in the digital era. In addition, it increases awareness of global issues and real life because science literacy directs science learning to be more relevant to daily life, so that students are more concerned and actively involved in solving environmental and social problems. The implementation of science literacy in integrated science learning provides a more contextual and meaningful learning experience for students. Approaches such as PBL, STEM, and scientific inquiry are highly effective in improving science literacy skills in integrated science learning
