Abstract

Choi Pan is a traditional dish originating from Singkawang City, West Kalimantan. This study aimed to analyze the gastronomic components of traditional Choi Pan food as a gastronomic tourism attraction in Singkawang City, West Kalimantan. This research adopted a qualitative methodology using observation, interviews, and documentation to determine many aspects of gastronomy. The results of the study showed that Choi Pan has significant allure due to its rich heritage and the innovative used of ingredients like as jicama, chives, taro, bamboo shoots, and young papaya, which provided a tender, chewy texture and a savory-sweet flavor. The unique consuming experience was enhanced by an addition of chili sauce and garlic oil, which intensify the sensory experience and strengthen the connection between entrepreneurs and Choi Pan lovers.   The nutritional benefits of Choi Pan contributed to the survival of this dish within a healthy local culture. The results indicated that the success of establishing Choi Pan as a culinary tourist destination depended not just on its flavor and texture, but also on its sustainability of its fundamental philosophy and culture. Consequently, enhancing gastronomy qualities was anticipated to augment the appealing factor of gastronomic tourism, facilitated cultural preservation and regional economic growth via the promotion of culture-centric gastronomic tourism.

Abstract

The use of social media in political campaigns significantly impacts the political awareness of first-time voters at SMAN 15 Garut. Validity and reliability tests of the research instrument indicate that the questionnaire used is valid and reliable, allowing for accurate measurement of the desired concepts. Simple linear regression analysis reveals a positive relationship between the social media use variable (X) and the level of voter political awareness (Y), with social media explaining approximately 23.1% of the variation in voter awareness. Although significant, the influence of social media does not explain the entire variation in voter political awareness. Other factors outside the research variables also contribute, indicating the complexity in understanding the factors that influence the political awareness of first-time voters. Therefore, it is suggested to integrate social media use into better political campaign strategies, considering the characteristics of first-time voters. Increased digital access and knowledge also need to be strengthened so that first-time voters can participate more actively and effectively in the democratic process.

Abstract

Tourism plays a strategic role in supporting regional economic growth, including in Solok City, which has rich natural and cultural tourism potential. However, the optimization of destination management in this city faces several challenges, such as limited human resources, inadequate infrastructure, low community awareness, and insufficient promotion strategies. This study aims to analyze the role of the Tourism Office in optimizing destination management, identify influencing factors, and formulate strategic efforts towards sustainable tourism management. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with stakeholders (government, private sector, community, academia, and media), and document studies. The results show that the Tourism Office of Solok City plays a key role in four main functions: planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation. Programs conducted between 2021 and 2024 include destination development, tourism promotion, human resource capacity building, and cross-sector partnerships. Internal and external factors such as budget constraints, infrastructure limitations, community participation, and destination competitiveness influence management effectiveness. The implementation of Good Governance principles participation, transparency, accountability, and efficiency along with Destination Management approaches, has guided policy and program implementation. However, some aspects, particularly cross-sectoral integration and innovation in tourism promotion, still need improvement. This study concludes that strengthening stakeholder synergy and enhancing institutional capacity are crucial for optimizing sustainable destination management in Solok City

Abstract

The intensive use of synthetic chemical pesticides in agriculture has led to various negative impacts on the environment and human health, as well as increased pest resistance. As an alternative, plant-based pesticides (botanical insecticides) have shown potential due to their eco-friendly and sustainable nature. This study aims to review the effectiveness of soursop (Annona muricata) leaf extract as a botanical pesticide against the gray caterpillar (Spodoptera litura) on mustard plants (Brassica juncea), using a literature review method. Data were collected through a systematic search of accredited national and international scientific journals, then analyzed descriptively and comparatively. The findings indicate that soursop leaves contain bioactive compounds such as acetogenins, flavonoids, and saponins, which act as stomach poisons, antifeedants, and repellents to S. litura. Several studies reported that extracts from Annona spp. leaves and seeds effectively inhibit larval growth, reduce feeding activity, damage digestive tissues, and lead to larval death. This effectiveness highlights the potential of soursop leaves as a safe and efficient candidate for botanical pesticide development. The study also identifies a research gap regarding field-scale testing on mustard plants, suggesting the need for further agronomic validation.

Abstract

Social media activities carried out by coffee brands are often used, especially to create loyalty among consumers, but challenges and effectiveness need to be considered to maximize the company's potential. This study aims to determine the brand experience created through social media marketing activities to build brand loyalty. This study will examine social media marketing on the Kopi Kenangan account, sensory brand experience, affective brand experience, behavioral brand experience, intellectual brand experience, value consciousness, brand consciousness, continued usage intention, and brand loyalty, based on the journal by Kumar & Hsieh (2024) titled “How do social media marketing activities affect brand loyalty?” The mediating role of brand experience and Ismail (2017) with the title “The influence of perceived social media marketing activities on brand loyalty: The mediation effect of brand and value consciousness.” The research method used is quantitative, conducting a survey using Google Forms with a sample size of 400 respondents, consisting of Kopi Kenangan consumers who consistently purchase Kopi Kenangan products and recommend Kopi Kenangan products. Descriptive analysis was then conducted based on structural equation modeling and partial least squares data using SmartPLS. The results showed that social media activities influence Kopi Kenangan brand loyalty through brand experience. The results were statistically analyzed using a significance level of 0.05. The researcher found that the calculated t-value was greater than the table t-value (7.577 > 1.65). In other words, social media activities influence brand loyalty. Kopi Kenangan can maximize strategies to enhance brand loyalty through social media activities, which can also serve as a reference for future strategic development.
