Abstract

Developing environmentally friendly livestock food provision in Blitar Regency through duck farming is one of the strategic efforts to increase community animal protein consumption while maintaining environmental sustainability. This community service program is designed with a participatory approach, education, and application of appropriate technology. The methods used include surveys, farmer training, implementation of technology to increase livestock productivity, use of biodigesters, and strengthening farmer institutions. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in farmer knowledge and skills, with an average post-test score increasing by 40% compared to the pre-test. The adoption of appropriate technology, such as feed biofermentation, and biodigesters, has succeeded in reducing production costs by 30%. Livestock productivity increased with production, while duck mortality rates decreased from 15% to 5%. Strengthening farmer institutions through the formation of farmer groups also increases the organizational capacity and bargaining power of farmers, including in accessing government financing and support. This program not only has a positive impact on farmer welfare but also contributes to meeting the community's animal protein needs and better environmental management. The sustainability of this program is expected to be achieved through supervision and synergy between the government, academics, and the private sector. This holistic approach shows great potential for replication in other areas with similar conditions.

Abstract

This community service aims to increase the motivation and fighting spirit of badminton athletes through the implementation of goal setting strategies and intensive psychological assistance. The main focus is to equip young athletes with the ability to manage mental stress and set clear training goals so that they consistently train and are ready to face competitions with confidence. In addition, this service also contributes to athlete development at the community level by building a training ecosystem that supports comprehensive mental and emotional development, as well as increasing the capacity of coaches in implementing effective psychological approaches. The methods used include goal setting technique workshop training, group counseling sessions to share experiences, and routine assistance for three months. The implementation is carried out at local badminton clubs, involving athletes, coaches, and club administrators. Each stage begins with measuring the motivation and mental readiness of athletes using psychological instruments, followed by providing interactive materials and practices, and ending with an evaluation to ensure positive changes. It is hoped that the results of this service will create badminton athletes who are technically superior and mentally tough, able to compete better, and have a long-term positive impact on regional sports development. This service supports the development of human resources for badminton sports in a sustainable and comprehensive manner.

Abstract

Scientific publication is one of the essential competencies for students in developing scientific knowledge and academic competitiveness. However, many final-year students at Muria Kudus University still face difficulties in writing and publishing scientific papers. To address this issue, this community service activity was carried out through a workshop based on Participatory Action Research (PAR), which actively involved students in discussions, hands-on practice, and intensive mentoring in scientific writing. The stages of the activity included problem identification, strategy planning, workshop implementation, and program effectiveness evaluation. A post-workshop survey showed that 85% of participants understood proper scientific writing techniques, 72% were able to prepare manuscripts according to journal standards, and 60% were ready to submit their manuscripts for publication. These findings indicate that the PAR approach is effective in improving students' understanding and skills in writing and publishing scientific papers. Through this workshop, it is expected that students will become more confident in producing high-quality scientific works and contributing to academic publications.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation and effectiveness of the English Fun Reading Program in improving childrens learners’ reading motivation and English proficiency at Rumah Belajar Al Ilmi, an informal community learning center in Pringsewu, Lampung, Indonesia. Designed for children aged 5 to 9, the program integrated storytelling, phonics-based games, read-aloud sessions, and culturally relevant materials within an interactive learning environment. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach and guided by Participatory Action Research (PAR), the study was conducted over multiple intervention cycles that included planning, action, observation, reflection, and replanning. Data were collected through field observations, video documentation, informal interviews, and reflective journals, and analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings revealed significant improvements in students' phonemic awareness, vocabulary acquisition, sentence reading ability, and enthusiasm toward English reading activities. The number of children able to recognize letters, read simple sentences, and participate actively in group reading sessions increased substantially. Additionally, learner motivation and engagement rose consistently throughout the program. These outcomes support key educational theories, including Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development, Krashen’s Comprehensible Input Hypothesis, and phonemic awareness frameworks by Ehri. The study concludes that participatory, culturally responsive, and enjoyable literacy interventions can serve as powerful tools for enhancing early English literacy in under-resourced educational settings.

Abstract

Plastic waste is one of Indonesia’s most critical environmental challenges, comprising approximately 17% of the nation's 64 million tons of annual waste. This study explores the impact of a recycling workshop that transformed plastic waste into handicrafts, conducted at the Malang Waste Bank and involving students from Universitas Kristen Cipta Wacana Malang. Using an activity-based participatory approach, the workshop aimed to enhance students’ environmental awareness, practical recycling skills, and understanding of circular economy principles. Data were collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The results showed a significant increase in students’ knowledge of the 3R concept (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), along with improved technical skills in sorting, melting, and crafting recycled products such as bags, hats, and wallets. The workshop also encouraged environmental entrepreneurship by demonstrating that waste can be transformed into valuable and marketable items. This initiative exemplifies how community-based, hands-on learning experiences can foster sustainability values in higher education and support the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy framework.
