Abstract

Teacher is one important component in improving teaching quality. One way to improve the teaching quality is by applying various innovative strategies. One of the innovative teaching strategies is contextual learning. Contextual teaching strategy is a teaching strategy which emphasize on students’ activity in learning, so that students can memorize the material for longer time and can get better achievement. This research aimed to figure out the improvement of students’ achievement in Human Reproduction Concept at MTs Negeri 1 Matangglumpangdua. This research used two cycles with four components: planning, acting, observing and reflecting. Test was conducted at the end of each cycle. Data was analyzed qualitatively by using descriptive statistic. The result shows that the average of cycle 1 increased from 70,00 to 76,09 at cycle 2. Students give positive responses 72,28%; 75, 82%; 73,39% and  71,16% to attention indicator, interest indicator, possitive belief indicator and satisfaction indicator (agreement scale) respectively. Finally, it is recommended that contextual learning is suitable to be used in Human Reproduction Concept. Nevertheless, contextual learning strategy shouldn’t be applied continously to different materials to avoid student’s boredom.

Abstract

General ecology is a science that is the basis for environmental science. Good ecological understanding will encourage practices of natural resource management that are environmentally friendly. To achieve these objectives students should be equipped with adequate ecological knowledge. In addition to the learning process in the classroom that is conducive, providing learning support elements, including textbooks, will also ease students in understanding the ecology. This study aimed to evaluate the availability of reference books and textbooks and to identify learning materials characteristics that can assist and facilitate students in learning ecology. The results showed the need for a text book which is in accordance with local conditions and keep updated with the latest developments in the field of ecology.  The book will be the main resource in learning the general ecology.

Abstract

A research in the relationship between education level and housewives’ health reproduction knowledge had been conducted. Data was colected from 27 February to 5 March 2009 at Desa Rukoh Syiah Kuala Banda Aceh. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between education level and housewives’ health reproduction knowledge. The population in the research was 409 housewives in the productive ages at Desa Rukoh. Purposive sampling was applied to gain 35% of sample from the population (144 housewives). Parameters of this study were knowledge, understanding, and awareness towards health reproduction. Data was gained from questionaires. Product-moment correlation was used to analyse the data. The result shows  r= 0,533 rtable = 0,159 (N=144) at 5% significant level. This value indicated that there is a relationship between education level and housewives health reproduction knowledge at desa Rukoh Syiah Kuala Banda Aceh.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh pemberian ekstrak daun bandotan terhadap perubahan performa karkas dan penurunan jumlah koloni mikroba pada usus ayam broiler. Percobaan  ini menggunakan 45 ekor doc ayam broiler , perlakuan baru diberikan pada umur 25 hari. Pengujian dilakukan pada 3 kelompok, yaitu kelompok P0: tanpa pemberian ekstrak air daun bandotan (kontrol); Kelompok P1 dan P2 diberi ekstrak air daun bandotan masing-masing pada dosis 1,5 ml dan 3 ml dengan dicekokkan melalui oral selama 6 hari. Pada hari ke-7 dilakukan pengambilan data. Dari hasil penelitian diketahui rata- rata persentase karkas71,8% (K) ; 72,3% (P1) ; 72,1%(P2). Analisis sidik ragam menunjukkan bahwa persentase karkas tidak berbeda nyata (P0,05) dipengaruhi oleh pemberian ekstrak daun bandotan. Sedangkan rata-rata persentase lemak abdomen 1,6% (kontrol); 1,5% (P1); 1,4% (P2) hasil analisis juga tidak menunjukkan perbedaan nyata dikarenakan pemberian ekstrak daun bandotan dengan nilai P0,05. Rata-rata angka Total Plate Count (TPC) masing-masing perlakuan adalah 8,3 x 105 CFU/ml (K) ; 7,6 X 105 CFU/ml (P1) ; 6,4 x 105 CFU/ml (P2). Walau hasil analisis sidik ragam untuk TPC tidak menunjukkan perbedaan nyata dengan nilai P 0,05. tetapi dari angka rata-rata memiliki kecendrungan menurun. Hal ini mengindikasikan daun bandotan mempunyai potensi untuk dijadikan salah satu bahan alami untuk menggantikan antibiotika yang berbahan baku kimia.

Abstract

It has been done a research about 'Habitat Characteristics of Sumatran elephants (Elephas maximus sumatranus) in Seulawah Ecosystem region at regency of  Aceh Besar', to see the characteristics of Seulawah unspoiled ecosystem, it is necessary to review what habitat factors that influence habitat selection by elephants in Sumatra. However, due to forest encroachment, the conditions of habitat at the site which is often used by elephants in the Seulawah ecosystem are changed, and including forest encroachment areas are extremely high. With the purpose to describing physically and biologically of the habitat characteristics of Sumatran elephants in the Seulawah ecosystem at Aceh Besar regency. Retrieval of data was held on 1-14 in December 2010. The parameters which used are the amount of feces found in habitat that is used by the Sumatran elephants in the Seulawah ecosystems at Aceh Besar regency. The data is collected on the track which located in the Seulawah ecosystem ata Aceh Besar regency and samples used are track with measure of  100x3m and then divided into 8 plots with distance between plots are 500m. The results showed that the Sumatran elephant selecting habitat unit with criteria (a) the slope of the ramps (0-20o), (b) close to the water source (0-250m), (c) close to the primary forest (0-500m); (d) the availability of minerals rare trees (3 trees), (e) low-elevation land (0-400m), (f) the availability of many feed (75%), (g) closing the canopy is very rare (0-25 %), (h) the availability of body scrub trees are rare (3 trees), and (i) the type of secondary forest. The results provide information about the factors that determine the selection of habitat by Sumatran elephants that can contribute in the management of suitable habitat for Sumatran elephants. This condition is expected to reduce elephant conflicts with the surrounding area.

Abstract

This study aims to develop the 2013 curriculum biology instructional materials based on lesson study and its effect on science process skills and students' learning motivation in Pidie Jaya Regency. The initial stage of this study was to train the biology group teachers from Subject Teacher Association in Pidie Jaya district to develop 2013 curriculum biology instructional materials based on Lesson study. Instructional materialss that are trained based on Lesson Study are: Learning Implementation Plans, Worksheet, and Assessment. The implementation phase of the development of learning devices through activities, namely: 1) General Explanation of the basic principles of lesson study; 2). Workshop on preparing learning too 3). Tests (do) of tool compiled through open lesson at school. 4) Stage of reflection (see) on implementation in class. The study population was class X students of SMAN 1 Meureudu. The sample was determined by 30 students of class X-IPAl of SMAN 1 Meureudu. Data on science process skills and motivation were obtained using questionnaires and analyzed descriptively. Based on the results of the study it is known that the implementation of lesson study based instructional materialss can improve science process skills and learning motivation of class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Meureudu from 3.49 (sufficient) to 4.27 (good).

Abstract

Learning the science of biology still tends to prioritize the acquisition of results (products) in the form of knowledge, memory, and ability to think logically so that most students still think that the science of biology is a lesson to memorize. As revealed by Amien (1991) that an analysis of existing biological science learning at this point in a philosophical emphasis on process and scientific products, but its implementation was still more emphasis on product rather than a scientific process. This is certainly necessary to get attention, because such learning can lead to underdeveloped, or even "kill "the creativity of students. One alternative effort to develop creative thinking ability in learning biology science is by conducting brainstorming. Brainstorming able to encourage creativity and generalize a variety of ideas quickly. Brainstorming can be used to solve a specific problem, answer questions, introduce a new subject, increase interest, and record the knowledge and attitudes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan persepsi guru dengan tindakan siswa dalam pengelolaan lingkungan hidup di SMPN 2 Indrajaya Kabupaten Pidie, dilakukan pada bulan Maret - April 2014. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh guru PNS pada SMPN 2 Indrajaya Kabupaten Pidie yang berjumlah 41 orang dan seluruh siswa kelas VIII dan IX yang berjumlah 416 orang, sampel untuk siswa dalam penelitian ini diambil 10% yaitu 41 orang siswa dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuisioner (angket) dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis dengan analisis deskriptif dan korelasi parsial. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa persepsi guru (x) mempunyai hubungan yang positif dengan tindakan siswa (y) dengan koefisien korelasinya (r) = 0,3378 dan thitung = 2,241 ttabel = 1,686 pada taraf signifikansi α = 0,05.  Kesimpulan adalah bahwa persepsi guru terdapat hubungan positif dengan tindakan siswa dalam pengelolaan lingkungan hidup di SMPN 2 Indrajaya Kabupaten Pidie. Dengan demikian perlu perhatian untuk meningkatkan persepsi guru dalam pengelolaan lingkungan hidup dan perlu didukung oleh adanya sarana dan prasarana yang lebih baik dan lengkap untuk mendukung proses belajar mengajar dan khususnya dengan hal yang berhubungan dengan kebersihan lingkungan sekolah

Abstract

This research aims to find out the potency of the integration strategy of PBL with cooperative learning of Jigsaw in mmproving the students understanding of concept. This research belongs to quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design factorial 2x2. The research variables consist of independents variable A B, the former is the integration strategy of PBL + Jigsaw and conventional learning strategy and the latest is low and high academic ability. While the dependent variable is understanding of concept. The research population is the new students of four study programs: Biology, Biology Education, Chemistry, and Chemistry Education in the faculty of Math and Science UNM in academic years 2011/2012. Two classes were selected as the research samples, Chemistry Education (N=36) as the experimental class, and Biology class (N=30) as a control class (using conventional strategy). On those two classes, the students with high and low academic ability are selected based on the result of grouping test. The instrument used is essay test on Fundamental Biology course. The research data were collected by giving test before and after treatment then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Anacova is used to test the hypothesis of differences. The research result shows that (1) the strategy of learning has an influence on the concept understanding of the students so that the integration strategy of PBL+Jigsaw has more potency to improve concept understanding of the students rather than conventional one, (2) There is no differences of understanding of concepts on high and low academic ability, (3) there is no influence of interaction between the learning strategy with academic ability toward concept understanding.

Abstract

This study aimed to use the learning model Problem Based Learning in increasing motivation, learning outcomes, and the relationship between motivation and student learning outcomes in the human digestive system concept. This research was conducted in May 2016 at MAN Blangpidie, Aceh Province. This type of research used experimental methods and descriptive with pretest-posttest design One Group Design. The subjects were all students of grade XI MAN Blangpidie totaling 120 students, the sample in this study is 40 students. Data analysis was performed by ARCS questionnaires motivation percentage. The results showed that an increase in student motivation t-hit = 14.61 t-table = 1.99. The conclusion was that the use of Problem Based Learning model of learning can increase student’s motivation in the human digestive systemconcept for class XI MAN Blangpidie
