Al-Mabsut : Jurnal Studi Islam dan Sosial is a journal managed by IAI Ngawi. In addition, the Al-Mabsut journal has two printed and online versions (ISSN:2089-3426 - E-ISSN: 2502-213X). Al-Mabsut is a journal that contains the study of Islamic and Social sciences. Studies that concentrate on the Islamic sciences (Aqidah, Sufism, Tafsir, Hadith, Usul Fiqh, Fiqh and so on) and also contain studies of politics, economics, law, education, history, culture, health, science and technology associated with Islam both in its normative dimensions (as doctrines and teachings) as well as in its historical dimensions (Muslim culture, Muslim communities, Islamic institutions and so on. Currently, Al-Mabsut journal gets SINTA 5 Accreditation based on Certificate Number 85/M/KPT/2020. All manuscripts submitted to the editorial board will be reviewed by the reviewer and the selection of manuscripts is based on considerations of writing quality, originality, and contribution to science.

Abstract

Family law reform in Islam is an urgent necessity in response to social dynamics and contemporary demands for justice. This article aims to analyze the role of maqashid syariah as a normative foundation and practical instrument in the process of reforming Islamic family law. Through qualitative library research, the study reviews various classical and modern literatures as well as empirical studies highlighting the importance of a dynamic and contextual interpretation of maqashid to enable Islamic family law to adapt to social changes without losing the core values of sharia. The findings show that maqashid syariah provides a holistic framework to ensure the protection of women’s, children’s, and other family members’ rights fairly, creating an inclusive and responsive legal system. Major challenges include social resistance, differences in madhhab interpretations, and limited capacity of legal apparatus, requiring educational strategies and constructive dialogue. This article recommends strengthening maqashid-based legal education, harmonizing interpretations, and institutional reforms as crucial steps to realize just and sustainable family law reform in Islam. Thus, maqashid syariah serves as a bridge between tradition and modernity, facilitating the renewal of Islamic family law relevant to the needs of the Muslim community in the era of globalization.

Abstract

Abstract: The "Marriage is Scary" phenomenon among younger generations reflects a shift in how marriage is perceived, not as a key life achievement, but as a source of anxiety and uncertainty. This trend is reinforced by high digital media consumption, as seen in Serang Baru District, Bekasi, an area with significant internet and social media use. This study aims to analyze the factors behind the emergence of the "Marriage is Scary" phenomenon, its impact on interest in marriage, and the Indonesian government's response. A qualitative method with a case study approach was used. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Creswell’s thematic analysis model, which includes coding, theme identification, interpretation, and integration with relevant literature. To ensure validity, data triangulation from multiple sources was applied. The findings reveal that fear of marriage among youth in Serang Baru is influenced by five main factors: economic instability, social pressure, social media influence, emotional instability, and traumatic personal experiences. These factors contribute to a declining interest in marriage, marked by delayed decisions and greater selectivity in choosing a partner. The study also found that while the Indonesian government has responded through premarital education and legal protections for women, it has not explicitly addressed the "Marriage is Scary" narrative. Abstract

Abstract: The digitalization of media has significantly transformed information consumption preferences among Muslim communities, including the rising trend of digital comic readership across diverse age groups and genders. Digital comics have evolved beyond mere entertainment platforms to become influential agents in shaping social and relational constructs among Muslim users. This study aims to examine the implications of digital comic consumption on the perception of ideal partners among Muslim readers. Employing a qualitative research design with a descriptive analytical approach, data were collected through observation and in-depth interviews with 42 Muslim informants who actively engage with digital comics. The findings reveal four primary motives underlying digital comic consumption: information seeking, personal identity formation, social integration and interaction, and entertainment. The dominant genres consumed by Muslim users include action, romance, slice of life, fantasy, and royalty-themed narratives. Character representations and portrayals of ideal relationships within digital comics have the potential to positively influence users’ perceptions of ideal partners, including the reinforcement of positive values and character traits, integration of Islamic principles into partner preferences, formulation of realistic criteria for ideal partners, encouragement of self-reflection and understanding, and enhancement of media literacy and critical attitudes. Conversely, this trend may also yield negative implications, such as the formation of unrealistic partner expectations, decreased personal productivity, diminished real-world socialization skills, and adverse effects on physical and psychological well-being. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the role of digital media in shaping relational constructs and ideal partner values within Muslim communities. Abstract

This research explores the role of the NU East Java women's elite in the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Contests. NU female elites, both structurally from Fatayat NU and Muslimat NU or from cultural in this case are caregivers of Islamic boarding schools, known as Bunyai and Ning, have a unique authority in choosing and determining support for the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential pair. This research is part of qualitative research. Therefore, the author uses role theory, as well as a webarian analysis related to the motives behind the social actions of the NU women's elite. The results of this study stated that NU women's elites, both structural and cultural, have different choices in responding to the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential contests, considering that their support motives are also different. The role of NU women's elites has similarities in winning their respective elections. However, the model is different between Bunyai and Ning and NU women who are active in organizations, both Fatayat NU and Muslimat NU. Of course, the maximum role and firmness of the political stance of the NU Muslimat did have a big impact on the victory of the Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka pair, although this attitude is related to the political pragmatism of the NU Muslimat Chairman to contest in the 2024 Regional Elections. Abstract

Abstract: This article examines the phenomenon of demonstrations from the perspective of the Qur’an by comparing classical exegesis with digital interpretation based on ChatGPT. The ease of access to Qur’anic exegesis through web platforms and artificial intelligence (AI) raises critical questions regarding its validity: does it conform to the interpretative standards established by scholars, or does it still require verification through primary tafsir sources? This study aims to explore the similarities and differences between classical and digital interpretations when applied to the theme of demonstrations. Employing a qualitative method with a library research approach, the study utilizes Tafsir al-Ṭabarī, Tafsir Ibn Kathīr, and digital responses generated by ChatGPT. The findings indicate that classical exegesis emphasizes Islamic normative principles such as amar ma‘rūf nahi munkar (enjoining good and forbidding evil), the prohibition of fasād (corruption), justice, and consultation. Demonstrations are deemed permissible if conducted peacefully to uphold justice but are prohibited if they lead to anarchy and disorder. Meanwhile, ChatGPT provides interpretations in a popular, communicative, and contextual style, making them more accessible to the public. In conclusion, both approaches converge in substance allowing peaceful demonstrations while rejecting anarchic actions but differ in their mode of presentation: classical tafsir is textual-normative, whereas digital tafsir is more practical and contextual. Abstract

Abstract : This study aims to explore the dynamics of the relationship between self-esteem and conformity among adolescents in the context of peer interaction. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed, involving six adolescent participants aged 15–18 years. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles & Huberman’s model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that self-esteem plays a crucial role in adolescents’ responses to peer pressure. Adolescents with high self-esteem tend to be more selective and capable of resisting negative conformity, while those with low self-esteem are more likely to yield to peer pressure. Moreover, the study identified positive conformity that supports adaptive behaviors such as group studying. This research contributes theoretically by highlighting self-esteem as a protective factor against negative conformity, and provides practical implications for parents, educators, and counselors in supporting adolescent development. Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of the digital economy on consumption patterns and investment behavior in Ponorogo Regency. The study was conducted with a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data collection through surveys with qualitative insights from interviews and secondary sources. The results show that the adoption of digital payment systems such as QRIS and mobile wallets has significantly increased, reflecting a shift in consumer behavior toward more practical and efficient transactions. Moreover, digital platforms have encouraged investment diversification, with younger generations showing interest in online investment instruments such as mutual funds, stocks, and even cryptocurrencies, while older groups still prefer conventional savings and gold. These findings highlight that the digital economy has reshaped local economic behavior, creating both opportunities and challenges in improving financial literacy, inclusivity, and regional policy support. Abstract

يُعدّ الاعتدال الديني الأساسَ الرئيسي لتحقيق حياةٍ متناغمةٍ في مجتمعٍ قرويٍّ يتسم بتنوعٍ ديناميكي. وفي هذا السياق، يلعب التسامح الديني دورًا هامًا كوسيلةٍ لغرس قيم الاعتدال، سواءً لدى جيل الشباب أو المجتمع ككل. تُركّز هذه الدراسة على تحليل جهود حكومة القرية والشخصيات الدينية في تعزيز قيمة التسامح الديني بين المجتمعات متعددة الأديان. ويعتمد البحث على المنهج الظاهراتي مع البحث النوعي، من خلال المقابلات المتعمقة والملاحظات الميدانية ومراجعة الأدبيات. وتُظهر نتائج البحث أن حكومة القرية والشخصيات الدينية تُساهم مساهمةً حقيقيةً في تعزيز قيمة التسامح بين المجتمعات متعددة الأديان. وتتجلى جهود حكومة القرية من خلال عدة جهود، منها: (أ) توفير الخدمات والمرافق العامة الكافية، (ب) دعم تنفيذ احتفالات الأعياد الدينية، (ج) المشاركة في حل النزاعات الاجتماعية، (د) تشجيع التنمية الاقتصادية الشاملة، و(هـ) إقامة التعاون مع قادة المجتمع. وفي الوقت نفسه، يسعى الزعماء الدينيون إلى تعزيز قيمة التسامح من خلال خطوات مثل: (أ) نقل التعاليم الدينية التي تؤكد على قيمة السلام، (ب) العمل كوسطاء عندما تنشأ النزاعات، (ج) بدء الحوار بين الأديان، (د) تقديم أمثلة ملموسة للتسامح، (هـ) تثقيف الجماعة حول أهمية التسامح والوئام، و (و) دعم الأنشطة الاجتماعية التي تعزز العلاقات بين المجتمعات الدينية.

Abstract

This study aims at analyzing and describing the discourse of the official website content of Pusat Pengembangan Bisnis (P2B) UIN Jakarta using Discourse Analysis. The objectives involve identifying communicative deficiencies and proposing strategies for improvement. The descriptive qualitative method involves textual and multimodal coding of website content. Results indicate that the content lacks multimodal features (e.g. visuals, icons), absence of feedback forms, and multilingual content. Recommendations include adopting conversational register, integrating visual resources, providing multilingual options, and incorporating interactive feedback features. These strategies are crucial as UIN Jakarta transitions toward Public Legal Entity (PTN-BH) status, where communicative digital discourse aligns with institutional transparency and competitiveness. Abstract

Abstract : The ideas formulated by progressive Islam, a trend in Islamic thought, to realize social justice, gender equity, and pluralism must awaken our humanity as part of the global human race, originating from the Prophet Adam (peace be upon him). This idea, regardless of background, ethnicity, religion, gender, or race, must be recognized. Progressive Muslims must fight all injustices around us. They must not only criticize injustices committed by Muslims themselves but also boldly criticize injustices perpetrated by the West. This is where the importance of the multiple critique initiated by progressive Islam becomes apparent. It encompasses various approaches to understanding Islamic tradition and modernity. This movement emphasizes a commitment to the values, practices, and goals of Islam, manifested in various ways. In this regard, it is important to highlight the reinterpretation of Islamic tradition using philosophical and historical approaches, examining the works of previous scholars with the thoughts of philosophers. Progressive thinkers strive to develop alternative interpretations appropriate to the modern era. Minority issues such as gender justice, human rights, and humanitarian justice are addressed. Gender justice is considered key to progressive Islam. Progressive thought also emphasizes the importance of human rights. Moosa highlights the differences between secular and Islamic human rights schemes, as well as the need for reconstruction within Islamic tradition. Progressive Muslim thinkers combine Islamic tradition with modern Western thought. They emphasize issues of social justice, gender, human rights, and harmony between Muslims and non-Muslims. Progressive Islamic studies involve textual sources and Islamic tradition. They act as intellectuals and are involved in the process of raising public awareness. Progressive Islam seeks to harmonize tradition and modernity to advance the understanding of Muslims. This movement is expected to have a positive impact on the development of Islamic society in contemporary debates.
