Abstract

Mathematical communication skills are very important and is one of the capabilities that should be owned by the students. To create students with good communication skills and meaningful, then used the SAVI approach and realistic approach. This study aims to determine differences in improvement of communication capabilities of students who applied mathematical SAVI approach with computer media and students who applied realistic approach in terms of the level of students' mathematical abilities. To see the interaction SAVI approach to media computer with early ability students (low, medium, and high) to the improvement of communication capabilities mathematical students, to interaction realistic approach to the initial ability of students (low, medium, and high) to the improvement of communication capabilities mathematical students , To describe the differences in the attitudes of students who applied SAVI approach with computer media and students who applied realistic approach. The population in this study were all students of class VII SMP Negeri 1 Nibong North Aceh.Samples were selected VII3 as SAVI class and the class as a class VII2 realistic. Result of analysis shows that there was no difference in improvement of communication capabilities of students who applied mathematical SAVI approach with computer media and students who applied realistic approach. There is no interaction with the computer media SAVI approach with prior knowledge of students (low, medium, and high) to increase students' mathematical communication skills. There is a realistic approach interactions with students 'initial ability (low, medium, and high) to increase students' mathematical communication skills. Students' attitudes toward learning mathematics through realistic approach has a positive attitude score higher than SAVI approach with computer media.

Abstract

Materi differensial merupakan salah satu materi yang sulit di pahami siswa. Diperlukan satu strategi untuk mengatasinya yaitu dengan penggunaan strategi Means Ends Analysis. Strategi ini memungkinkan siswa memecahkan masalah yang ada pada materi differensial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan pemecahan masalah oleh siswa kelas XI MAN Model melalui strategi Means End Analysis pada materi differensial. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI MAN MODEL Banda Aceh, sedangkan sampelnya diambil secara random yaitu kelas XI IPA 3 MAN MODEL Banda Aceh yang berjumlah 30 siswa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik tes hasil belajar sesudah pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan menerapkan strategi Means EndsAnalysis, dan pengolahan data awalnya menggunakan uji-t, karena tidak berdistribusi normal, maka menggunakan uji non-parametrik, yaitu ujiWilcoxon. Dari hasil analisis data diperoleh simpulan bahwa siswa mampu memecahkan masalah pada materi differensial melalui strategi Means Ends Analysis dikelas XI IPA 3 MAN MODEL Banda Aceh.Kata Kunci: strategi pembelajaran Means Ends Analysis, kemampuan belajar, differensial

Abstract

AbstractProblem solving skills and communication skills is one of the mathematical achievement of the curriculum that must be owned by students in learning mathematics. For that, it needs the right learning model in improving communication skills and mathematical problem solving of students, one model that can improve this ability is a cooperative model of Think-Pair-Share. The aim of this research is to examine differences in mathematical problem solving skills and communication skills among students who obtain mathematical models of cooperative learning Think-Pair-Share and students who receive conventional learning. This research is an experimental study with the study design pre-test post-test control group design. With a population of all eighth grade students of MTsN Darul Ulum Banda Aceh by taking samples of the two classes of experimental class and control class through purposive sampling of four parallel classes available. The data was collected using a test instrument that tests problem solving skills and test students' mathematical communication skills. To see the difference in the ability of students between classes and grade control experiment used the t-test at significance level 0.05. Of the data and results of statistical tests were analyzed with SPSS 16.0 For Windows and Microsoft Excel 2007 to interpret the mathematical problem solving skills and communication skills of the students' mathematical model of cooperative learning with Think-Pair-Share, Overall cooperative models use Think - Pair - Share can improve mathematical problem solving and mathematical communication skills of students.     Keywords: Cooperative learning Think-Pair - Share, mathematical problem solving , mathematical communication

Abstract

In mathematics a lot of complaints from teachers because of lack of achievement and motivation of one of the earliest achievements to improve learning outcomes and student motivation is a cooperative learning model type group investigation. This study aims to determine the increase in student achievement and learning motivation among students who learn through cooperative learning model type Group Investigation with students who learn through conventional learning models. This study is a quasi-experiment study research design of pre-test post-test control group design. The population is all students of class XI SMA Negeri 8 Banda Aceh by taking samples of two classes (the experimental class and control class) via random sampling of eight parallel classes available. The data collection was done using two kinds of instruments that test and non test. Tests include pretest and posttest, while non-test includes a questionnaire to students' motivation. To see the difference in achievement and increase students' motivation between experimental class and control class used the t-test. Based on the survey results revealed that 1) the increase in student achievement which acquire learning through cooperative learning model type Group Investigation better than students who received conventional learning, and 2) increase students' motivation obtain cooperative learning type Group Investigation better than in students who obtain conventional learning. The use of cooperative learning model type Group Investigation in learning proven to improve student achievement and motivation to learn, so it is suggested that other researchers can apply in mathematics learning another topic.

Abstract

Masalah yang terjadi di SMA N 2 Sigli adalah banyak siswa hanya mampu menghafal materi ajar tetapi tidak memahaminya, tidak mampu menghubungkan antara pengetahuan yang mereka pelajari dengan pemanfaatannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, dan mendapatkan kesulitan saat memahami konsep yang diajarkan. Pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan  penerapan discovery methods diduga dapat menyebabkan peningkatan pemahaman dan penalaran logis matematis siswa secara signifikan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan pengolahan data secara kuantitatif yang bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman dan penalaran logis matematis siswa dengan menggunakan pendekatan discovery methods ditinjau berdasarkan keseluruhan dan pengelompokan siswa. Desain eksperimen yang digunakan adalah desain kelompok pretes-postes (pretest-postest control group design). Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMA N 2 Sigli. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa SMA N 2 Sigli dan siswa kelas X-5 dan X-6 sebagai sampel. Instrumen penelitian berbentuk soal uraian dan pengumpulan data menggunakan tes. Hasil analisis dapat disimpulkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis dan penalaran logis matematis siswa yang diajarkan di kelas eksperimen lebih baik dari peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman dan penalaran logis matematis siswa yang diajarkan di kelas kontrol baik ditinjau berdasarkan keseluruhan siswa maupun berdasarkan pengelompokan. Hasil analisis diketahui bahwa terdapat interaksi antara faktor pembelajaran dan pengelompokan siswa terhadap peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis. Metode pembelajaran memberikan efek terhadap peningkatan pemahaman matematis siswa. Dan penglompokan (tinggi, sedang, rendah) tidak memberikan efek pada peningkatan pemahaman matematis siswa. Tidak terdapat interaksi antara faktor pembelajaran dan pengelompokan siswa terhadap peningkatan penalaran logis matematis siswa. Selanjutnya, metode pembelajaran dan penglompokan siswa, masing-masing memberikan efek terhadap peningkatan penalaran logis matematis siswa.

Abstract

Critical and logical thinking is very important in the study of mathematics, as described in the 2013 curriculum that is currently implemented. However, this ability is often overlooked in the study of mathematics, which still adhered to the old paradigm that learning is less engaging students in active thinking. Thus, students are not used to empowering the cognitive function in thinking. This study aimed to determine the increase in students' critical thinking skills and logical-mathematical in learning mathematics through the cooperative model of Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) assisted Maple. This research used experimental method, with the control group pretest-posttest design. The population was all Year 10 classes in one of the vocational high schools in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Two classes were taken as the sample (the experimental and control class) through a random sampling technique. Data collection was performed using the tests of critical thinking and logical-mathematical ability. T-test was conducted to see the difference in ability between groups of students learning with STAD and the conventional group, at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that: 1) Improvement of critical thinking skills of students who got the mathematical learning of mathematics through STAD cooperative model-assisted Maple was better than the students who received conventional learning. 2) Improvement of logical-mathematical thinking ability of students who receive mathematics learning through cooperative model STAD assisted Maple was better than the students experienced the conventional learning.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the difference in learning outcomes of students who receive realistic mathematics learning approach with those who obtain the conventional one. The study is conducted using pre-test post-test control group design with the entire population of eighth grade students of SMP N 2 Lhokseumawe as sample. In this study, purposive sampling technique is used for sampling. Data collection is conducted by giving test and non- test. The test includes cognitive testing on circle after the treatment is given , and the non – testis given using questionnaire to measure students’ attitude and response towards the realistic mathematics learning. Furthermore, the statistical test used in this study is the t-test. The data also illustrates that it follows the normal curve and it is homogenous. In order to test the hypothesis using the t-test, df (degree of freedom)= n1 + n2 - 2 = 30 + 31-2 = 59. As a result, it is obtained that t t table is 3.502 1.671 .  In conclusion, the study finds that 1 ) the students who receive realistic mathematics learning approach perform better on the test compare to those who do not receive the treatment (2 ) Students’ response towards realistic mathematic approach is positive

Abstract

Geometry is one of the materials that are considered important in mathematics with the aim that students gain confidence regarding math skills, be excellent problem solvers, and can communicate and reason mathematically. Geometry is a branch of mathematics closely related to spatial ability, the ability to visualize an image, recognize shapes and objects accurately, make changes to an object in his mind and recognize the difference, describes an object in mind and turn it into a tangible form, reveals the data in graphical form as well as sensitivity to relationships, color, line, shape, and space. This study focused on improving spatial skills based on research conducted by Olkun (2003), the ability to visualize the image, including the ability to mentally rotate and flip through 2D and 3D objects quickly and precisely. This research used a quasi-experimental design with pretest-postest group design. The instrument was used in the form of spatial ability tests. Population in this research was Year 8 students in one of the junior high school in Banda Aceh, and selected samples were the students from one of the classroom. The data analyzed in that the data pre-test and post-test spatial ability, using the t-test for data pairs. The result showed that the spatial ability of students after being given a lesson with the help of Cabri 3D software better than before given the spatial ability of students learning with the help of Cabri 3D software.

Abstract

Pelaksanaan kurikulum 2013 menggiring pembelajaran di sekolah untuk menerapkan pendekatan saintifik pada setiap mata pelajaran. Demikian juga dengan pelajaran matematika. Dengan kelebihan yang dimiliki pendekatan saintifik melalui tahapan-tahapan ilmiahnya, diharapkan dapat mewujudkan proses pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada siswa, sehingga siswa mendapat pengalaman yang bermakna selama proses perolehan pengetahuan. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan penelitian tentang penerapaan pendekataan saintifik padaa maateri Relasi daan Fungsi, dengan mengambil lokasi MAN 3 Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan hal-hal berikut: (1) Keberhasilan belajar siswa melalui pendekatan saintifik pada materi relasi dan fungsi dikelas X MAN 3 Banda Aceh, (2) Aktivitas siswa selama pembelajaran melalui pendekatan saintifik pada materi relasi dan fungsi dikelas X MAN 3 Banda Aceh, (3) respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran melalui pendekatan saintifik pada materi relasi dan fungsi dikelas X MAN 3 Banda Aceh. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksprimen siswa, dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Melalui pendekatan saintifik hasil belajar siswa dapat mencapai kategori baik pada materi relasi dan fungsi di kelas X MAN 3 Banda Aceh, 2) Siswa aktif selama pembelajaran melalui pendekatan saintifik pada materi relasi dan fungsi, (3) Siswa memberi respon positif terhadap pembelajaran Relasi dan Fungsi melalui pendekatan saintifik. Abstract

Abstrak             PISA (Program for International Student Assessment) melaksanakan asesmen tiga tahunan untuk mengetahui literasi siswa dalam membaca, matematika, dan sains. Literasi (melek) matematika merupakan kemampuan seseorang individu merumuskan, menggunakan, dan menafsirkan matematika dalam berbagai konteks. Termasuk didalamnya bernalar secara matematis dan menggunakan konsep, prosedur, fakta dan alat matematika untuk menjelaskan serta memprediksi fenomena. Sejak tahun 2003, posisi siswa Indonesia berada pada ranking 5-10 dari bawah. Dengan mengetahui sasaran PISA diharapkan ranking siswa Indonesia menjadi lebih baik. Makalah ini membahas tujuan PISA, literasi matematika, domain PISA, level kemampuan matematika pada sosal PISA, contoh soal PISA, dan upaya meningkatkan skor PISA untuk siswa di Indonesia. Kata kunci: PISA, literasi matematika, domain PISA
