Abstract

Until now student mastery of the material geometry is still relatively low. Many difficulties experienced by students in understanding the geometry of the material, one of which is the difficulty in proving. In addition, the study is not yet available devices that can specifically serve the needs of teachers in the teaching of mathematical proof. Therefore, it is necessary to develop learning tools of proof that can help teachers and train students in the proof of the geometry in school. In this study the evidence used strategy is the strategy of abductive-Deductive. This study aims to develop and produce learning device geometry proof. This type of research is the development of research refers to the model of Plomp through four stages, namely a preliminary investigation stage, the design stage, the stage of realization / construction, and stage of the test, evaluation and revision. This research trials in SMA Laboratorium Unsyiah Banda Aceh. The research showed the average score validator for RPP 4.52, 4.58 LKPD, teaching materials and test 4.54 4.30 learning outcomes, adherence to the 91%, the average score of 3.73 practicality test, 86% students with a positive response, and 80.7% of students complete. This shows that the learning device valid criteria, practical and effective way to improve the geometry of high school students.

Abstract

The ability of mathematical communication is one of the goals of learning in mathematics. communications skills can be defined as the ability in writing, reading, listening, analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating ideas, symbols, terms, and information mathematics. Therefore, it is necessary that relevant learning model to optimize, improve and develop the students' mathematical communication skills. One model of learning is cooperative learning model Jigsaw. The purpose of this study to determine: (1) Is the improvement of communication capabilities mathematical students taught by cooperative learning model Jigsaw better than that taught conventionally, and (2) the interaction cooperative learning model Jigsaw with prior knowledge of students' mathematical communication students. This research is experimental research design pretest-posttest Control Group Design. The population in this study were all students of class XI MAN Peusangan Bireuen district consists of four classes. While the sample is composed of two classes, namely the experimental class and control class taken by random sampling. The instrument used to obtain research data in the form of mathematical communication ability test. The statistical test used to upgrade data mengalisis mathematical communication skills are a test of Anova two lanes. The results showed that the overall improvement of communication capabilities mathematical students taught by cooperative learning model Jigsaw better than students taught by conventional approach. There is no interaction between cooperative learning model Jigsaw with initial ability of students to the students' mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

In mathematics a lot of complaints from teachers because of lack of achievement and motivation of one of the earliest achievements to improve learning outcomes and student motivation is a cooperative learning model type group investigation. This study aims to determine the increase in student achievement and learning motivation among students who learn through cooperative learning model type Group Investigation with students who learn through conventional learning models. This study is a quasi-experiment study research design of pre-test post-test control group design. The population is all students of class XI SMA Negeri 8 Banda Aceh by taking samples of two classes (the experimental class and control class) via random sampling of eight parallel classes available. The data collection was done using two kinds of instruments that test and non test. Tests include pretest and posttest, while non-test includes a questionnaire to students' motivation. To see the difference in achievement and increase students' motivation between experimental class and control class used the t-test. Based on the survey results revealed that 1) the increase in student achievement which acquire learning through cooperative learning model type Group Investigation better than students who received conventional learning, and 2) increase students' motivation obtain cooperative learning type Group Investigation better than in students who obtain conventional learning. The use of cooperative learning model type Group Investigation in learning proven to improve student achievement and motivation to learn, so it is suggested that other researchers can apply in mathematics learning another topic.

Abstract

Interest geometry are taught is to develop spatial ability so as to impart knowledge to support other materials. As NCTM specify one of five content standards in mathematics, namely geometry measurement an important element involves the use of visualization and modeling. This shows that modeling is the demands of the curriculum that must be accommodated in the classroom. Therefore, teachers should be able to apply the learning object model that abstracts from geometry into real situations imaginable learners. One lesson that applies the use of models that help learners build their own knowledge is Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). Shaped media selection Information and Computer Technology (ICT) can also meet the demands of the curriculum on the use of visualization to teach geometry. One of ICTs to facilitate learners to imagine something abstract geometry of the object is Cabri 3D software. But in reality there is no learning device that integrates Cabri 3D geometry once using RME approach. This study aims to develop and produce devices RME-assisted learning Cabri 3D is valid, practical, and effective. This research is a research development refers to the model of Dick and Carey consisting of nine steps, namely the identification of learning objectives, learning analysis, identification of the characteristics of learners, formulate learning objectives, develop test items, develop learning strategies, develop learning materials, design and implement formative evaluation, and revising instructional materials. The trial in this study conducted in SMP 19 Pilot Banda Aceh. The result showed that the learning device geometry with Cabri 3D-assisted RME approach memenui valid criteria, practical andeffective.

Abstract

Rendahnya kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa SMA merupakan salah satu masalah utama dalam pendidikan matematika. Untuk itu perlu adanya suatu pendekatan pembelajaran matematika yang tepat dalam meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa, salah satu pendekatan pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan ini adalah pendekatan pembelajaran Contextual Teaching and Learning. Adapun tujuan utama dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa SMA yang diajarkan dengan Pendekatan pembelajaran Contextual Teaching and Learning dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Hipotesis dalam penelitian ini adalah peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa SMA yang diajarkan dengan pendekatan pembelajaran Contextual Teaching and Learning lebih baik daripada yang diajarkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Desain penelitian ini eksperimen dengan dua kelompok sampel serta menggunakan pretest dan postest. Kelompok eksprimen memperoleh perlakuan berupa pendekatan pembelajaran Contextual Teaching and Learning sedangkan kelompok kontrol dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 7 Aceh Barat Daya. Sampel yang digunakan adalah siswa kelas X1sebagai kelas eksperimen, dan kelas X2sebagai kelas kontrol dengan jumlah siswa masing-masing kelas sebanyak 30 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dalam penelitian ini berupa tes bentuk uraian utuk mengukur peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis. Analisis data dilakukan dengan bantuan SPSS. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa SMA yang diajarkan dengan pendekatan pembelajaran Contextual Teaching and Learning lebih baik daripada yang diajarkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional.

Abstract

Perkembangan di bidang teknologi informasi dan komunikasi dilandasi oleh perkembangan matematika di bidang teori bilangan, aljabar, analisis, teori peluang dan matematika diskrit. Untuk menguasai dan mencipta teknologi di masa depan diperlukan penguasaan matematika yang kuat sejak dini. kemampuan representasi dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah termuat pada kemampuan standar menurut Depdiknas dan NCTM dan merupakan kemampuan penting yang harus ditingkatkan oleh siswa. kemampuan representasi matematis diperlukan siswa untuk menemukan dan membuat solusi atau cara berfikir dalam mengkomunikasikan gagasan matematis dari yang sifatnya abstrak menuju konkret. Proses berfikir dalam pemecahan masalah memerlukan kemampuan mengorganisasikan strategi. Untuk meningkatkan kedua kemampuan matematis ini perlu adanya pembaharuan Pendekatan mengajar. Salah satu pendekatan pembelajaran matematika yang ditawarkan yaitu pendekatan problem posing. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa SMA kelas X pada SMA Negeri Unggul Harapan Persada Kabupaten Aceh Barat Daya, dengan sampel dua kelas. Berdasarkanhasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang menggunakan pendekatan problem posing lebih baik daripada siswa yang menggunakan pendekatan  konvensional (0,005 0,05); (2) peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang  menggunakan pendekatan  problem posing lebih baik daripada siswa yangmenggunakan pembelajaran konvensional (0,026 0,05); (3) terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis yang menggunakan pendekatan  problem posing dengan menggunakan pendekatan  konvensional ditinjau dari kemampuan awal matematis siswa [tinggi (0,145 0,05), sedang (0,001 0,05), rendah (0,035 0,05)]; (4) terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang  menggunakan pendekatan pembalajaran problem posing dan siswa yang menggunakan pendekatan konvensional ditinjau dari kemampuan awal matematis siswa [tinggi (0,000 0,05), sedang (0,000 0,05), rendah (0,392 0,05)]

Abstract

The result of PISA and TIMSS showed that students' mathematics abilities Indonesia is still low, including the ability to think creatively. The ability to think creatively influenced by psychological factors, one of them is anxiety. The efforts that teachers can do to improve creative thinking and coping with anxiety is applying problem posing approach. The problem posing approach can make students creative in issuing ideas to create questions and resolve them through three forms of cognitive activity, namely: presolution posing, within solution posing and posing post solution, then it ramble positive anxiety of students in learning. This study aims to determine the increase in the mathematics creative thinking ability and changes anxiety in learning by using problem posing approach. The study uses a quantitative approach to the type of experimental design pretest-posttest control group. The collecting data by using mathematics creative thinking ability tests and questionnaires anxiety. The data were analyzed using t-test and Two Way Anova. The results showed that the overall increase in the mathematical creative thinking ability of students taught through problem posing approach better than students taught through conventional learning. The same is also happened for students with medium and low KAM. As for students with high KAM increase creative thinking abilities of students taught through problem posing approach is no better than students taught through conventional learning. The results also show that there is no interaction between the learning and human factors to improving the students' ability to think creatively. In addition, overall there is a decrease both anxiety in students being taught by problem posing as well as conventional, as the decrease of anxiety in intention is the decrease of anxiety with ideal criteria. The decrease anxiety in students taught with problem posing better than conventional students. It also happens to students with high and medium.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menjelaskan proses berpikir dan menganalisis kesulitan siswa dalam memecahkan masalah matematika berdasarkan pengukuran Polya ditinjau dari Adversity Quotient (AQ). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskirptif kualitatif dengan subjek penelitian adalah siswa dari kelas IX SMP N 1 Banda Aceh tediri dari tiga siswa. Pemilihan subjek penelitian menggunakan metode purposive sampling dan berdasarkan tingkatan AQ (climber, camper, dan quitter) dan komunikasi (lisan dan tertulis). Pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara berbasis tugas, dan triangulasi untuk mengecek validitas data. Data dianalisis menggunakan konsep dari Miles dan Huberman: yaitu tahap pengurangan data, presentasi data, dan kesimpulan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Proses berpikir dari subjek climber yaitu secara asimilasi dalam memahami, merencanakan penyelesaian, .serta mengecek kembali; (2) Subjek camper juga berpikir secara asimilasi pada tahap memahami masalah, merencanakan penyelesaian, dan mengecek kembali; (3) subjek quitter berpikir secara akomodasi dalam memahami masalah dan menyelesaikan masalah.  DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.22342/jpm.10.1.3278.42-57

Abstract

This research was conducted to know the activity, learning result, and student's response to learning using Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach on multiplication counting material. This research is a Classroom Action Research which carried out three cycles. The subjects were 33 fourth grade students of SD Negeri 46 Banda Aceh. Data collection was done by using formative test of student learning result, student activity observation sheet, and student response questionnaire. The results showed that the expected student activity in the learning process was improved by using RME approach on multiplication counting material in class IV SD Negeri 46 Banda Aceh. There are 40% of active student activity, the second cycle is 80% active student activity, and in 100% cycle 100% active student activity. Furthermore there is also an increase in the ability of student counting operations multiplication in each cycle. The cycle-I is 33.3% complete, the II-cycle is 63.6% complete, and the III-cycle is 96.97% complete. Student response is also very positive on the learning by using PMR approach on the material of multiplication operation in class IV SD Negeri 46 Banda Aceh.

Abstract

Up to now the mathematical ability of students is still relatively low. It is characterized from the low mathematics learning outcomes. Low ability students' mathematical understanding and abilities among students' mathematical problem solving so we need a model of learning that can improve both the mathematical ability. Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) is one type of cooperative learning is expected to increase both these capabilities. This type combines the advantages of cooperative learning and individual learning. This study aims to assess about increasing the understanding and solving mathematical problems high school students with TAI type of cooperative learning model. This study was an experiment that was true experimental research with a quantitative approach. Design research is pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study was all tenth grade students in the academic year 2013/2014. The sample in this study was two classes, class X1 (control group) and class X2 (experiment group). Data collection was using the test. Data analysis was conducted to gain a score normalized using ANOVA. The results showed that: 1) increased understanding of the mathematical ability of students who obtained using TAI type of cooperative learning model better than students which gained overall in terms of conventional learning and student level (high, medium and low), 2) there was no interaction between learning model and student level (high, medium, and low) to increase the capability of understanding, 3) improving students' mathematical problem solving ability the learning gained by using TAI type of cooperative learning model better than students who received conventional learning was reviewed overall and student level (high, medium and low), and 4) there was interaction between the learning model and student level (high, medium, and low ) to increase problem-solving ability.
