Abstract

The current environmental crisis still requires special attention from all parties considering that the impacts will be felt globally. All religions, including Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and others, also have a crucial role in maintaining environmental conservation. Through teachings, religion is believed to be able to be a power to always preserve the environment. This has been proven by the people of Reco Kertek Village, Wonosobo, who consistently maintain environmental sustainability in the Mount Sindoro area so that it becomes a tourist destination with its natural beauty. The purpose of this study is to reveal how environmental conservation is carried out by the multi-cultural community of Reco Village and how they use the Qur'an as an inspiration for environmental conservation. The methodology used in this study is a qualitative field-based methodology (field research) with the object of research in Reco Village, Kertek District, Wonosobo Regency, using phenomenology as its approach based on Petter L Berger's social construction theory. With this methodology and approach, this study succeeded in revealing the finding that the spirit of the Qur'an implemented by the Reco community was able to motivate them to carry out environmental conservation programs, including the Mountain Belt Program, Basecamp Management, and social community activities.. The Reco Village community bases their conservation spirit on QS Al-Rum: 41 and QS Al-A’raf: 10 which state that the destruction of nature is caused by human actions, whereas nature itself provides many benefits for human life.

Abstract

This research examines the critique of polygamy mentors to interpretations of the verse on polygamy in Islam that are rampant on social media, especially through polygamy mentoring programmes. Polygamy mentors such as Hafidhin and Riski Ramdhani interpret QS. Al-Nisa and 34 as legitimate to practice polygamy, without considering aspects of gender justice. The narrative they build leads to the glorification of polygamy as a sharia that is worthy of worship, with minimal attention to the social and psychological impacts on women. This study uses a critical approach and gender hermeneutics to analyse how polygamy mentor interpretations are used as ideological tools in reproducing gender inequality. Through analysis of their interviews and podcasts, it was found that their paradigm of thought positions women as objects that must be designed to accept polygamy, with a doctrine that limits women's rights and freedoms. The results show that polygamy mentor interpretations of polygamy have shifted from their original purpose in the Quran, as a solution to certain social problems, to an instrument of domination that ignores the principles of equality and justice. Criticism of this understanding asserts that the verse on polygamy does not mean an absolute recommendation, but as a form of regulation of existing practices in society at that time. Therefore, a more contextual and equitable reinterpretation is needed so that the interpretation of polygamy is not used as a tool to perpetuate gender inequality.

Abstract

This study examines the interpretation of gender-related verses in the Qur'an through an ecofeminist framework. The primary focus is on Q.S. An-Nisa' (4):1, which has traditionally been interpreted by classical commentators in ways that reinforce patriarchal culture, often labeling women as the "Second Sex." This paper argues for a reinterpretation of gender-biased verses using an ecofeminist approach. This qualitative library research analyzes textual sources, including books and journals. It aims to answer two questions: how Q.S. 4:1 can be interpreted and how ecofeminist theory applies to its interpretation. The findings reveal that while Q.S. 4:1 has been traditionally linked to the creation of Eve from Adam’s rib, modern interpretations emphasize egalitarian principles, such as the rights of all individuals, including husbands, wives, and orphans. Ecofeminism provides an alternative lens by framing Q.S. 4:1 as a reflection of interconnectedness and mutual roles in human creation, affirming both gender equality and ecological harmony.

Abstract

The identity crisis faced by the millennial generation is a central issue in social, psychological, and cultural development in this era of globalization. Many factors contribute to this identity crisis, including uncertainty about one's self-identity, shifting cultural values, and the impact of technological advancements and social media. This phenomenon often leads to confusion and difficulty in determining the direction of life, thus requiring a new approach to address this problem. This study aims to examine the relevance of the story of Ashabul Kahfi in Tafsir Al-Maraghi as a solution to the identity crisis faced by the millennial generation. The approach used in this study is a tafsir approach with an in-depth content analysis of Tafsir Al-Maraghi’s interpretation of the story of Ashabul Kahfi in Surah Al-Kahfi. The research findings indicate that the story of Ashabul Kahfi contains values of steadfast faith, the struggle to uphold life principles, and the search for self-identity, which align with values of spirituality and belief. These values can provide inspiration for millennials in overcoming the challenges of their identity crisis. The implication of this study is the importance of applying the values of steadfast faith and self-identity search in religious education and character development to shape a generation with firm life principles and a clear direction in facing life’s challenges in the modern era.

Abstract

There are many traditions in Islamic societies or groups that originate from the existence of the Quran in their midst. As recently, various traditions of reading the text of the Koran have become widespread, both carried out communally and individually. Abstract

This study highlights the differences in the Qur’anic rasm writing system between a manuscript from Bangkalan and the Indonesian Standard Mushaf (MSI). This topic is significant because the manuscript tradition in the Indonesian archipelago does not fully adhere to the rules of rasm ʿUthmānī as formulated by Abu Amr al-Dānī, but instead displays variations that reflect local identity. The main objective of this research is to identify the forms of variation, evaluate the consistency of rasm application in the Bangkalan manuscript, and situate it within the broader framework of Qur’anic transmission in Indonesia. The study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, using descriptive-comparative analysis of Sūrat al-Baqarah as the sample text. The findings reveal notable differences between the Bangkalan manuscript and MSI, particularly in the use of alif in specific words and the application of the ḥadẓf rule, which do not fully conform to the established standard. These variations indicate that Nusantara manuscripts function not only as vessels for transmitting the sacred text but also as cultural artifacts that embody the dynamics of codicology, philology, and the local history of Qur’anic copying. The study underscores the importance of preserving and examining Nusantara Qur’anic manuscripts, both as valuable academic resources and as an Islamic intellectual heritage that contributes to understanding the diversity of rasm traditions beyond the ʿUthmānī standard.
