Abstract

This article discusses the style in the mention of religion (Al-Dīn, Al-Dīn Al-Qayyim, Al-Dīn Al-Khāliṣ, Dīnillāh and Millah) in the Qur'an. The theory used in this article is a study of stylistic. Stylistics is the study of language in the content of speech structures, also examines the speech that is distributed among various types/nations/ethnic personalities. The result of this research is the identification of aspects (grammar, historical and interpretation) that can be revealed meanings (Al-Dīn, Al-Dīn Al-Qayyim, Al-Dīn Al-Khāliṣ, Dīnillāh and Millah). The results in this study, firstly, the position of the sentence Al-Dīn has a position as maf’ūl bihi (object), Al-Dīn Al-Qayyim as ṣifah-mauṣūf (descriptive-adjective), Al-Dīn Al-Khāliṣ as a descriptive-adjective, Dīnillāh as Iḍāfah (annexation) and Millah as maf’ūl bihi whose verb is discarded. The scondly, content of speech in the sentence (Al-Dīn, Al-Dīn Al-Qayyim, Al-Dīn Al-Khāliṣ, Dīnillāh and Millah) which have the same meaning or variety, namely religion that is kāffah (complete), perfect, savior and bringer of happiness.

Abstract

The background of this research is respond to israiliyyat as one of the instruments in interpreting the Qur'an. On the other hand, without us realizing it, the presence of israiliyyat might represent a threat to the religion, hence this subject of israiliyyat must be thoroughly researched  so as not to cause misunderstandings in understanding the Qur'an. This study focuses on what and how israiliyyat is included in the interpretation of the Qur'anas well as its characters, diverse perspectives related to israiliyyat and israiliyyat authentication in the interpretation of the Qur'an. The purpose of this study is to determine the authenticity of the israeliyyat stories in the interpretation of the Qur'an. This research is important considering that the Qu’ran is a book as well as a guide to human life, a manuscript that is protected from forgery and its authenticity is guaranteed by Allah SWT. The existence of the Qur'an is not only read and then memorized, but studied and studied from numerous scientific disciplines by humans throughout the ages, so that if there is an error in the interpretation, the consequences will be fatal. The methodology used in this study is a literary and historical approach. According to the findings of this study, there are three perspectives on  israiliyyat authentication and its application in interpretation, namely: 1) receptionist, 2) rejectionist, 3) creative synthesis. For detailed discussion, the author explains in this article.

Abstract

Mengkaji karya tafsir Indonesia tidak bisa mengesampingkan kajian atas kitab-kitab tafsir karya para ulama, kiai dan in telektual dari kalangan pesantren. Tulisan ini membuktikan bahwa karya-karya tafsir pesantren terus berkembang secara dinamis dalam berbagai aspeknya: format penyajian, aksara dan bahasa yang digunakan, metode penafsiran, maupun penafsirannya. Kenyataan ini menegaskan bahwa di satu sisi penulisan tafsir oleh para penulis dari pesantren berbasis pada kebutuhan masyarakat yang menjadi audiens dan pembacanya. Sementara di sisi yang lain, kerya-karya tafsir pesantren menunjukkan bahwa pesantren merespon secara positif terhadap berbagai perubahan yang terjadi sekaligus memperlihatkan gerak intelektualisme dengan berbagai keunikan dan karekteristiknya sendiri.

Abstract

Basically Muslims around the world are ummah wahidah. But in reality, some Muslims actually conflict with each other and are divided due to differences in opinions, views, by blaming each other and disbelief. Therefore, how do the concepts of the two interpretations written by Hamka and the Ministry of Religion RI respond to this problem, where the two interpretations discuss about society. The method used is the comparative method. The results of this study are 1) Hamka and the Ministry of Religion RI agree in interpreting ummah wahidah as one belief in monotheism and one who likes to do good. Both of them provide a way to realize ummah wahidah by returning to the book that contains the truth and mentioning the factors that become obstacles to the realization of ummah wahidah, namely envy. The difference is, in explaining the meaning, constraints and ways of realizing ummah wahidah, Hamka is more detailed, while the Ministry of Religion RI is simpler; 2) The ummah wahidah offered by Hamka and Ministry of Religion RI is still very relevant to the current context. From the two books of his commentary, he provides a solution so that Muslims adhere to the Al-Quran and as-Sunnah. Meanwhile, Hamka specifically provides a way for humans to return to their unity by finding common ground that refers to good values, even as a means to compete in goodness; 3) The implication is that Muslims must change their mindset and be mature to accept the differences that exist.

Abstract

This article presents a study of Hans Georg Gadamer's hermeneutical analysis of the interpretation of parenting verses by Syarifah Halimah Alaydrus in the Study of Tafsir Surah Yusuf. Parenting is not explicitly mentioned in the Qur'an, but the stories in the Qur'an contain a lot of parenting knowledge. This research is studied to find out the educational teachings of the previous prophets, as well as the educational teachings of the descendants of the last prophets, and to get to know more closely the figure who conveys knowledge, namely Syarifah Halimah. Judging from Hans Georg Gadamer's theory related to fusion of horizons, awareness of being influenced by history, and application. The results of this analysis indicate that parenting in the story of Prophet Yusuf from Syarifah Halimah is to introduce the love of Allah and His Messenger to children through the love of parents to children, in the form of entrusting children to God's care. Parents always protect children from physical and mental evil according to what the Prophet taught. Syarifah Halimah's understanding was motivated by the close relationship with her parents, Psychology from her nephew, accustomed to studying the works of Imam al-Ḥaddād, following the habits of the Tarim mashāyikh, while at the pesantren he memorized hadith and the Qur'an. The implementation of Syarifah Halimah's explanation is to manifest love, in the form of calling the closest person with a favorite call, and punishing something in accordance with the applicable punishment in the place occupied.

Abstract

Abstract This paper reviews reformist narratives in the Madurese language interpretation of the Qur'an entitled Tafsir Alqur'anul Karim Nurul Huda. Written in 1969 by Mudhar Tamim (1916-2000), a religious leader, intellectual, politician and freedom fighter from Pamekasan, Madura. This research is a qualitative research model of literature (library research). Through the perspective of critical insight analysis, this paper seeks to show how ideological reformers have influenced Madurese interpretations. The results of this study indicate that Mudhar Tamim used the interpretation of the Qur'an as a means of voicing reformist ideas as a reaction against traditionalist Madurese Muslims. This reformist narrative can be seen from the criticism of taklid culture, rituals of ecological adaptation, and the practice of Sufism. This third aspect is packed with critical narratives. As one of the interpretations of Madurese Muslim works, Tafsir Al-Qur'anul Karim Nurul Huda is important to study. Not only enriches literature, discourse and discourse around the tradition of exploring the Qur'an in Madura, but also captures how the struggle for discourse on religious ideology in Madura.

Abstract

Perbedaan penafsiran yang muncul di kalangan mufasir menjadi hal yang sangat berpengaruh pada pemahaman teks al-Qur`an, baik berupa akkidah maupun syariat. Oleh karena itu, tarjih sebagai salah satu solusi adanya perbedaan pendapat menjadi kajian yang cukup penting. Salah satu ulama yang mengarahkan perhatiannya pada berbagai macam perbedaan pendapat dan melakukan pentarjihan dalam tafsirnya adalah Imam al‑Shawkānī dengan kitabnya Tafsir Fatḥ al‑Qadīr. Penelitian ini mengkaji penafsiran al-Shawkāni dalam Tafsir Fatḥ al-Qadīr dengan metode analisis deskriptif-kritis melalui studi kepustakaan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan model atau metode pentarjihan al-Shawkānī dalam Tafsir Fatḥ al-Qadīr, khususnya dalam Surah al-Nūr. Batasan masalah penelitian ini adalah tarjih penafsiran Surah al-Nūr dengan redaksi أرجح, أولى, dan الأولى. Penelitian ini mengguunakan pendekatan tarjih ulumul qur`an al-Ḥarbī. Hasil penelitian ini menjelaskan dalam mentarjih pendapat, al‑Shawkānī menggunakan metode tarjih berdasarkan konteks al‑Qur`an, tarjih dengan sunah, tarjih berdasarkan sebab turunnya ayat, tarjih dengan qarīnah, dan tarjih berdasarkan Bahasa Arab.

Abstract

Kajian ini menanggapi kajian qirā`āt yang meyakini bahwasannya perbedaan qirā`āt dapat menimbulkan perbedaan makna (hukum). Penelitian ini penting dilakukan guna membuktikan bahwasannya perbedaan qirā`āt tidak hanya menimbulkan perbedaan makna yang kontradiksi melainkan perbedaan makna tersebut dapat disinergikan. Penelitian ini tergolong penelitian kepustakaan (library research) yang termasuk jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif-analitis. Penelitian ini memfokuskan kajiannya pada perbedaan qirā`āt dalam Juz ‘amma dalam aspek farsh ḥurūf  yang berpotensi melahirkan perbedaan makna dengan mendeskripsikan lafal-lafal yang memiliki perbedaan qirā`āt berdasarkan batasan qirā`āt imam tujuh yang telah disepakati. Analisis dilakukan pada lafal-lafal yang memiliki perbedaan qirā`āt dengan menganalisis masing-masing subtansi qirā`ah pada aspek naḥwu dan ṣaraf untuk memperjelas maknanya, kemudian menggabungkan makna masing-masing qirā`ah pada suatu lafal menjadi satu makna yang tidak berkontradiksi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan, bahwa perbedaan makna qirā`āt pada surah al-Takwīr ayat 24 berfaidah memperkaya makna, perbedaan makna qirā`āt pada surah al-Fajr ayat 18 dan surah al-Inshiqāq ayat 19 berfaidah menjelaskan hal yang sama dengan redaksi yang berbeda dan perbedaan makna qirā`āt pada surah al-Nāzi’āt Ayat 11 dan surah al-Balad ayat 14 dan 15 berfaidah saling melengkapi.

Abstract

Al-Qur'an sebagai teks yang hidup terus beradaptasi dengan dinamika sosial-budaya berbagai zaman, termasuk tantangan dan peluang yang dihadirkan oleh era modern. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi dinamika hafalan dan transmisi lisan Al-Qur'an di era modern, dengan fokus pada bagaimana praktik ini menghadapi ketegangan antara tradisi dan kemajuan teknologi. Penelitian ini didasarkan pada pertanyaan utama bagaimana alat-alat modern dan perubahan sosial memengaruhi praktik dan persepsi hafalan serta transmisi lisan Al-Qur'an. Metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Pendekatan etnografi dimaksudkan untuk menggali dinamika hafalan dan transmisi lisan Al-Qur'an di era modern melalui dua bentuk pengamatan, yaitu observasi partisipatif langsung di lapangan dan observasi dalam komunitas daring (online communities). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun alat teknologi seperti aplikasi digital Al-Qur'an dan platform daring telah memfasilitasi akses dan pembelajaran, namun alat-alat tersebut juga menghadirkan tantangan terhadap metode tradisional seperti interaksi langsung antara guru dan murid.

Abstract

Interpretations that explore social and reformist elements in understanding the verses of the Qur’an remain scarce. Social themes are usually used to portray religious activities contained in the study of the Living Qur'an. In fact, the ideal interpretation is to touch on clear social concepts as Rasyid Ridha's view in Tafsir al-Mannâr. This research employs a descriptive analysis method and applies Pierre Bourdieu’s habitus theory to examine the theological and sociological foundations of the Sunnatullah concept in Tafsir al-Mannâr by M. Rasyid Ridha. Ridha rejects mystical interpretations and the world of Sufism. He prioritizes rational and reformist interpretations. According to him, it is more useful and provides a positive contribution to the progress of Islam. This study also reveals Ridha's habitus and intellectual arena in implementing the Sunnatullah concept. Ridha’s habitus was shaped by his strong educational background and exposure to modern Islamic thought. His intellectual arena was formed through his close association with M. Abduh, his leadership in the journal al-Mannâr, and his authorship of Tafsir al-Mannâr. While his intellectual arena emerged in his opportunity to accompany M. Abduh, holding the journal al-Mannâr and writing the book Tafsir al-Mannâr. Ridha transformed the concept of Sunnatullah from a mere thematic subject in Tafsir Maudhu’i into a foundational interpretive framework for achieving a social reformist exegesis.
