Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of applying learning theories through a bulletin media integrated with character education to improve students’ literacy and numeracy at SDN 9 Mamboro. This quantitative study involved 21 students selected randomly. Data were collected through written tests administered before (pretest) and after (posttest) the learning intervention. The analysis results showed a significant improvement, with pretest minimum–maximum scores of 22.96–58.52 increasing to 64.26–98.33 in the posttest, and the mean score rising from 38.29 to a higher level after the intervention. The pretest (8.24) and posttest (7.98) standard deviations indicate that learning outcomes remained controlled. These findings are consistent with constructivist, behaviorist, and cognitivist learning theories that support active and meaningful learning. The significance value (sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 confirms a significant effect of the character education–integrated bulletin media on improving students’ literacy and numeracy. These results may serve as a foundation for developing innovative and sustainable instructional practices in schools.

Abstract

The low level of student learning activity in writing narrative essays in the Indonesian language subject at the fifth grade of SDN 20 Kampung Baru, Pesisir Selatan Regency, formed the background of this study. Identified problems included students' tendency to play during lessons and a lack of participation in discussions. Therefore, this study aimed to describe the improvement of students' narrative writing activities through the application of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative model. This study utilized a qualitative approach with classroom action research (CAR) consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection, conducted over two cycles. The subjects were the fifth-grade students and teacher. Data were collected through observation, tests, and interviews. The results indicated a significant increase in oral activity (from 69% to 82%), listening activity (from 68% to 83%), and writing activity (from 67% to 82%). Thus, it is concluded that the TGT model is effective in improving student activity in writing narrative essays.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Pop-Up Book learning media on the water cycle topic for fifth-grade elementary school students and to examine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4-D development model, which includes the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research subjects consisted of expert validators, classroom teachers, and fifth-grade students. The instruments used were validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and student learning outcome tests. Data were analyzed using descriptive percentage analysis and gain score analysis to measure the improvement in learning outcomes. The results showed that the Pop-Up Book media achieved a very high level of validity based on evaluations by material and media experts. Its practicality was categorized as very practical according to teacher and student responses. Moreover, the media was proven effective in improving student learning outcomes, as indicated by the increase in post-test scores compared to pre-test scores, with moderate to high improvement levels.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low beginning writing skills of first-grade students at SDN 04 Terandam, which were still below the minimum learning achievement criteria. This condition was caused by less varied teaching methods and students’ lack of attention and focus during the learning process. The study aimed to determine the significant effect of the Game Based Learning (GBL) method assisted by the Wordwall application on students’ beginning writing skills. This research used a quasi-experimental method with a posttest-only design. The population consisted of 30 first-grade students, with class IB as the experimental group and class IA as the control group using saturated sampling. Data were collected through a beginning writing skills test and analyzed using a t-test. The results showed that the experimental class achieved a higher average score than the control class, namely 82.67 and 77. The hypothesis test results indicated that tcount > ttable (1.722 > 1.701), meaning that the use of the GBL method assisted by Wordwall had a significant effect on students’ beginning writing skills.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop Student Worksheets (LKPD) based on an inquiry model to improve the critical thinking skills of fourth-grade elementary school students in science learning. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with a 4-D model that includes define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research subjects consisted of 3 validators, 1 teacher, and 5 students. The research instruments were validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and effectiveness tests. The results showed that the developed LKPD obtained a very valid level of validity with a design value of 93.75%, material 90%, language 95.83%, and lesson plan 86.25%. The results of practicality obtained a percentage of 91.66% with a very practical category, while effectiveness obtained an average of 92% with a very effective category. Thus, inquiry-based LKPD is suitable for use to improve the critical thinking skills of elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a conceptual framework for parent education through the integration of parenting style theory, the self-healing approach, and Structural Family Therapy. The study addresses the fragmentation of existing parent education programs, which largely emphasize cognitive and behavioral aspects while overlooking affective and relational family dimensions. Using a pragmatist paradigm and an integrative literature review, this study synthesized interdisciplinary literature published between 2013 and 2024. Data were analyzed through open coding and thematic synthesis using ATLAS.ti and NVivo. The findings produced a reflective–transformative parent education model comprising four dimensions: affection (emotional healing and regulation), structure (family roles and boundaries), cognition (understanding authoritative parenting), and relations (parent–child communication and attachment). The model promotes a transdisciplinary, pragmatic, and restorative approach to parent education and provides a foundation for developing family policies, training modules, and community-based interventions.
